What do you mean with AI traffic? Did they also add cars other than Civics with limited speed?
Sort of, yes - in the current Weekly Challenges:

How do Google Maps get around this? I can 360-degree street-view the whole track. Am I breaking the law if I use a Google Maps image?
Google doesn't get around it, they just ignore it, and Monaco ignores it as well.

A country like Germany mounted effective legal challenges and public backlash as soon as Streetview debuted, way back in about 2010. That caused Google to pause and simply never expand further. But despite Monaco's law, they have never actually challenged Google's activities, and at this point a legal challenge would be prohibitively complex and expensive for both parties.

Wow, didn't read the article, just sent the picture of the weekly challenges to my friends to give them a heads up, since I can't race myself, well, this is indeed a great addition. Is it the first time they do so? In the old civic one-maker special event were there only civics? (Also, is the field different from the first such events? I think I remember a TC-civic event in Suzuka which made me sweat a lot to get 1st)

Definately the first time they've done this as the last time was nothing but Civics (Still have the replay and video from it)

To add to the above replies, PD gave us a teaser in the Spec II trailer. We haven't seen any traffic since that update, but we'll see if this becomes normal. It's been a year and a half since that Spec II update.
Nah, what these cars(R33, FD, A80) are doing, we can’t do alone.

If that’s just showcasing multiplayer with AI traffic(regardless of the slow cars as traffic for this clip), cool. If it’s linking cars together by cruising(a la Forza), that’s something that may be in a future update.

Image is one thing BUT the laser scanning that PD needs to do for the accurate measurements of track width, the height above a known level point, the radii of turns proper, and such is a lot more than the "Google maps" can provide....

I dont think the initial question was about "how do they do it technicall" but instead because of the related quote "how does google not get sued for breaking rights of image" - and the answer has been given already: google simple chooses to ignore breaking laws (up to a certian point) like corporate greed dictates them to do.

It strikes me that Suzuki suddenly have a very "Gran Turismo 2" style of car lineup in the game with how they've fleshed them out.

Lots of modern small JDM daily drivers, a historic version of the same in the Cappuccino, and then the jump to the extreme race car Escudo. Only car that doesn't fit is the VGT.

Anyway, I like the Suzuki VGT because it reminds me from GSX-R/4 Concept.

Know what having the AI traffic in the Civic One Make does? Opens the possibility of Multi-class racing.

First time we saw that was in GT Sport Mission 6-8. Using the Gr.3 Porsche RSR. Navigating through 15 Gr.4 cars and trying to place P1 in front of the other 14 Gr.3 cars. If PD can add traffic, plus another 10 grid slots for this update, that would be bonkers.

The safe assumption is multi-class racing but the implication of this particular race is street racing...which is the first time PD has ever presented anything as street racing any at point in GT history. Something like "traffic" has never happened, and all tracks including road circuits have been closed courses up to this point. They've always left the obvious street racing to NFS and Forza Horizon, for better or worse, because there are a ton of real-world roads that would fit well with GT and the new Grand Valley seems like they know that.

Seems like the Honda is not getting represented in events. Sad.

Carry gets a K-Cup race. Strange I expected it to get a Sunday Cup race.

4 new cars but only 3 new events
Disappointing, but not unexpected.

There's a giant hole in the game's event structure for Japanese 4WD cars like this Honda where if you're too fast for the Sunday Cup the next event up is the Japanese Clubman Cup 550, which has R34 GT-Rs and GR Supras in it. So I'm not surprised they couldn't find a good fit for it.

Very midling update for GT7 but this does (hopefully) mean GT8 at launch will have a C5 for me to use in a (hopefully!!!) better career mode. So that's nice!

Also more cars to bulk up a much more fun early game. If all is according to my absolutely not delusional expectations of what GT8 could be like, it would be fun to see how far you can drag the Carry through the game.

New events' tie-in cars:
  • Lightweight K-Cup / Eiger Nordwand: Suzuki Carry
  • American Clubman Cup 700 / Autódromo de Interlagos: C5 Corvette
  • Ferrari Circuit Challenge / Deep Forest Raceway: 812 Superfast
Note the CR-V not having a new tie-in event.
