I spent a lot of time getting a 2nd unit of most cars from the lcd. Miura, 911 strassenversion, 250gt berlinetta, f50, ferrari gto, 365gtb, 500 mondial, abarth biposto...etc. Because it makes sense for them to get engine swaps.
What does PD engine swap instead? The freaking suzuki escudo! One of the last cars I would ever expect to get an engine swap. Seriously...

I’ve given up all hope of ever getting the few engine swaps i’ve been wanting

I was very happy when engine swaps became available to buy in the car shop. I think that brought a little life back to the game.
But now...I think they are reaching the point of ridiculousness.

I am very curious to experience the Escudo swap. I don't like the twin-Hayabusa V8 TT at all, I think it has a terrible torque curve: very peaky in the middle, huge drop-off at the top end. But maybe that works for the Escudo - I don't know, we'll have to see. The option to replace its super-laggy original engine surely is welcome.

And the little Fiat with a bike engine surely will be fun!

Is the new C5 not compatible with Sophy yet? I can't load it into custom races as AI.
Not yet. New cars will take a while. I’m still waiting for my A70 Supra to race at Brands Hatch.

Edit:
@Famine Well, that's probably the nail in the coffin for the C8 GT3.R :nervous:

Edit: I'm thinking official event liveries "inspired by" the C5-R we used to have, the problematic C6 RM, and both home and away kits for the C8 GT3.R might be a self-defeating sign...
Yep, that’s bad. Like my earlier quote, just seems like PD are reverse engineering race cars using the engine swaps as a preview for options in the next game. Meanwhile, preparing players for less licenced based race machines, continuing to have players build their own. We’ll see.

Darn - kinda killed the update's hype for me as this was bringing me back to building custom grids after some time! Fingers crossed it happens soon..

I am interested in the T-GT dial response its soomething I complained about in the VR forum section as being of no use in VR with the HUD off as the click change can either be no move or 1 or 2 moves of the selection such as traction control or brake bias.
So you dont know what selection you have, basing it on memory of initial position.

I like the 812 Superfast. It's tail happy. Feels predictable. Sure a bit heavy but that is what it is.
Its just like I thought. After all, its not a track beast, but a grand tourer. F8 is faster, as it is in IRL. I was pretty suprised it actually has SM tires. I thought the stock rubber is Pirelli P-zero, but it may have had option for P Zero corsa, which translates to Sports medium in game.

Is there a rough real world translation for all the tyres then?

I.e comfort hards are Xijang remoulds, racing softs are F1 qualifying tyres, sports medium are P Zero Corsa etc.

Took my newly engine swapped Jaguar F Type R (V12 XJR-9) to European Clubman Cup 600 Nürburgring and in the last lap the game froze, had to shut the game down but was able to send error report to Sony:

Nevertheless, the engine swap was worth the credits (1,6 mill), the 7 speed transmission works well with the V12. :)

This!

Aww man, I can’t believe they didn’t use the opportunity the Superfast’s inclusion presented to toss in a few more Ferrari metallic red paint chips to the game. I’d love me a Rosso Magma Ferrari, or even better, a Rosso Fuoco one. Did they even add more real manufacturer colours in this update? :(

812 also seems a bit pricey, or pricey enough to render my attempt to get another draw of cars from my 4* ticket useless. 😕

EDIT: Apparently PD did add at least one new colour with the addition of the 812 Superfast, but it’s not red; the colour in question is Azzurro California. Weirdly enough it’s not available to purchase in GT Auto for painting separately though.

Others more attentive to this aspect of the game may be able to contribute and attest to this discovery, since I can’t say with 100% certainty (at most 80%; I don’t know what cars available only via dealership rotation I haven’t checked for their colour charts) that it is a new colour addition.

I took the 812 around the Nordschleife this morning. An increasingly wet track made things very interesting. It's competent, but you can't disrespect the throttle. I made sure it was completely stock, to get a genuine feel for it's handling characteristics. As someone said, it's a Grand Tourer, not a track focused machine, so I was able to forgive the way it understeered.

Well, my thinking is that Sports soft is top tier tyre, like Michelin Pilot sport cup 2 R or pirelli trofeo R. So in game cars like Porsche 992 911 GT3RS and AMG GT Black series SHOULD have SS-tires. And I've put those to the cars.
Pirelli P-Zero corsa is on cars like Laferrari, F8 Tributo and I believe Aventador SV.

Then Pirelli P Zero, or Michelin Ps4 should be sports hard tire, more common tire for most sports cars

Because we're car enthusiasts. Generational differences, drivetrain layouts, features etc. mean a lot to many of us. True car nerds sweat the details.

Gr3s comprise a LOT of sport mode and championship races. It's completely reasonable for motorsport enthusiasts to want the most recent and relevant versions of the cars they love represented in the game they love. There are many differences between a 458 and a 296 (in fact, a multi-generational skip from NA V8 to Turbo V8, then to an all-new chassis with a turbo-hybrid-V6)... and we can tell.

No, he didn't. He gave his opinion. An opinion that varies wildly from many of us here. Him not being able to tell the difference between cars isn't relevant to those of us who would be able to. He speaks only of his viewpoint, and that viewpoint is not representative of many others. His argument of "same-chassis" can be completely invalidated by my example above. The Ferrari 458 in GT7 now, and the 296 that exists today share nothing. And that's just one of many examples.

Precisely. It is crazy that anyone, especially in here, would expect so many hardcore automotive enthusiasts to not care about having the latest metal represented where we can "get our hands" on them. I mean, why read a new issue of Road & Track? They're all the same, right? Why watch a race tomorrow, it's been done before! Hahaha. Noooonsense.

I think I speak for many others here when I say I live cars. I have a fulfilling life filled with many pursuits, but my obsession and love of cars has been a constant that has never waned. I think this is true for many of you reading this comment. I love a Kangoo, or a Civic, or a Focus as much as a Corvette Z06, or an FD RX7, or Aston Valkyrie... and everything in between. I love cars.

Hell, I spent like, 3 hours the other night making a realistic beater Honda Civic livery, and I love it.

To tell me and these other car lovers, people that devour the latest news, follow manufacturer trends, listen to and watch automotive content, root on our favorite drivers and stay up late to watch our favorite race series, build and drive and race and run laps in Gt7 and enjoy our own real cars that we "shouldn't care about new race cars 'cuz they're all the same" is just... ridiculous on many levels.

At the end of it, the lack of these new racers isn't going to make or break my love of GT7, but don't for a second think that wanting them is anything other than a completely founded argument.
MIC 🎤 DROP! YOU 100% SPEAK for Me with Everything you just said in Fact I wouldn't have changed a single thing. As someone that Absolutely Loves Cars and Plays a Game in which your DR Rating is almost 100% Based On you Driving Cars that are Completely Outdated and when you think ppl have been doing Daily Races and TT's with those same cars for 8 YEARS ......."OUCH" 🤨🤔🤦‍♂️ Not a good look PD it would almost appear as if you are just taking for Granted that you have this super solid Fan/Player Base (and you do). However this Younger Generation these Days could give 2 💩💩 what you did 20,15,10 or 5 Years Ago it Means NOTHING TO THEM! It's about what are you doing Right Now and with Rennsport & Project Motor Racing just around the Corner as well as a Console Port for Lemans Ultimate and those Player Base Numbers PD might just look surprising this time Next Year and I don't Mean in a Good Way! I got on Assetto Corsa Comp. Yesterday and it's Insane the GT Car Selection they have Compared to GT7 and that game came out what seems like AGES AGO!

Release some GT Cars or at least be Transparent with the Direction so that your Player Base can either get super excited or understand that your attention going forward will be toward GT8 at which point you can rest assure that the GT Cars in Game will be Vastly Updated but Ignoring Us......Nah Nah Nah Nah Nah that's not a Good Look! I'm not saying That the GT Franchise will cease to exist NOT AT ALL.....I'm saying that Bank Account might start Shrinking that's all!

Sure but you can apply that logic to every sports and race car built in the world. That's a laughably unrealistic expectation to have of GT7. How dare GT7 not give us XYZ that was built 5 years ago! It's just unreasonable IMO. And given that there's an EXCELLENT GT3 game in existence (ACC), I don't really get it.
