Also why was Kaz in the PS4 reveal video if we arent going to see a game from his team for years? Then you have amar212's source telling him GT6 was in deveopment for PS4, and that he was surprised it turned out to be a PS3 title, as his source is very reliable.

Then there is Kaz's quote 'We aim for the latest technology and expression' when asked about which console GT6 will be on, about 9 months before the official unveiling.

So I believe they are further along in development for the PS4 then many may believe. I definitely think we'll see a teaser or trailer of some sort at the next E3.
👍👍

From everything I've seen and heard, I do believe we will see GT7 on the PS4 IN 12-18 months.

My opinion is that GT6 was originally going to be a PS4 game, yet Sony pushed it back to the PS3. So I believe Polyphony Digital already has Gran Turismo up and running on the PS4 in some shape or form. The GT7 tech demo of inside the cockpit of a car at night in the snow leads me to believe this. So GT6 on PS3 is, IMO, a PS4 GT game downscaled to PS3, so thats why its having some performance issues. I dont believe PD simply bit off more then they could chew with the PS3, they're just having trouble downscaling a PS4 quality game to PS3.

Also theres no way we would have heard Kaz say TWICE now GT7 could appear in a year or two. Obviously he has confident in their ability to produce a game on the system quickly, as the foundation on PS4 is likely already in place.

Why would GT7 on PS4 in 12 months be such a bad thing? Sure, alot of content will be cut. Maybe half the tracks and 75% of the cars. But since when did amount of content make a game? 4-500 cars and 16 or so tracks is enough to make a great game. GT3 had 180 cars and 12 or so tracks, and its still the highest rated GT game to date.

I know the other guys had to cut the Nurburgring, but you have to remember that version of the Ring was terribly inaccurate, and will have to be built again from the ground up. I dont see GT7 having such issues. Just give it 3D trees near the track, smooth out the barriers, and add higher res grass and road textures. They dont have to rescan the whole thing again like the other guys.

Bring on GT7 2014. Why not? Nobody is forcing anyone to buy it, and it gives PD plenty of time to patch problems and produce DLC for GT6.

I agree with you, makes sense. I even remember @amar212 saying something about the GT6 going to be a PS4 game, and then things changed towards PS3.

But I think that the tracks need to be redone to match this.

No other place to really post this from what I saw, though I'm not a frequent poster...that said, as someone looking to purchase a PS4 next year, should I just hold off and get GT7? Releasing GT7 next year seems VERY early to release said game. Maybe it's the '7', but I would rather they release "Gran Turismo 6: PS4 Edition" or something. Thoughts?
Great news, IF it will happen. Oh, and if GT6 deserves to be called GT6 and not GT5.5, why should a new GT title on the PS4 be called "GT6: PS4 Edition"?

What's with Polyphony and their occasional over-compensation complex? GT3 was criticized for slashing the car count, so GT4's list became hyper-inflated (and Standard cars live on because PD is afraid of dropping any). GT5 was criticized for its glacial development period, so now they're striving to flip sequels out the door like pancakes?

I believe the tech demo is real, it's probably just a few cars and a track. I highly doubt it'll be leaked so no worries there.

I agree with this as well. The PS4 has been with devs for sometime now and as PD are one of Sony's golden children they would have more than had enough time to string together a starting point. This makes sense based on Kaz's statements re the release of GT4. I am of the opinion of a few others here thinking 18mth mark as there really is no need to rush it out the gates. We don't want another PS3/GT5 release scenario so I think what get's done here with GT6 will have some solid bearing on what they do with 7

here is hoping that nascar is not included in the ps4 version. its the main reason i stopped playing gt5 and why i refuse to spend money on the gt6 for ps3. if you want a nascar game, buy one and enjoy driving in circles all day

So because of your inability to avoid the NASCAR cars, you stopped playing GT5 and won't get GT6. That's just reeks of sheer logic.

That's the worse reason to not play a game, especially GT5, that I've ever heard. Just skip those events (or slave through the few that were required. So, in other games, let's say you dislike the color Purple. Does that mean you're going to avoid all games that have the color purple???

between hackers and nascar, online racing pretty much died. a year ago you would have hundreds of rooms to choose from, now you might have 50 on a good night. im not counting the rooms where a guy makes a room and sits all night waiting for others to join. driving in circles does not take any talent. as for tuning a nascar, you can find all you need to know right on these boards. like donovan mcnabb said, nascar drivers are not athletes.

Not sure where you get this from. According to many posts and threads around here, PD don't respond to criticism.

Perhaps it's just a coincidence?

Speak for yourself. You have no idea how hard I'm biting my tongue right now.

I find it weird that most Americans either
A. Hate NASCAR in real life and in the game
B. Hate/have no opinion about NASCAR in real life, but think it is cool to have in the game, even if they choose not to use it
C. Love NASCAR on both occasions

But, I have played with a bunch of Australians and the all think NASCAR is the best part of the game, especially when online.

I personally find it weird that the ones who have it don't like it, and the ones who don't have it want it... hmm...

Yeah, I had to "ignore" him Dave...pure ignorance. Aside from reaching speeds of over 200 MPH, inches from the wall and/or competitor, NASCAR still requires skill to win. But I digress.

I just hope that IF NASCAR is in GT6/7, they improve the speeds/realism.

NAH. Holiday 2015.

being i would never buy one of those garbage ea sports nascar games, i would assume this is possible in those games

I thought Kaz was going to refrain his talk on release date expectations, at least that's what I remember.

Oh well if he wants to set himself up again it's his choice. They have lots of DLC for GT6 to work on in the meantime. Be interesting to see how long the support last for GT6 post launch.

Calm yoself! :) I saw the news/post and felt it was important enough to post here on GTP. I mean, if Kaz is already talking about GT7, it can't be too far off (for better or worse). I think it's clear the Sony wants Gran Turismo on the PS4 as soon as possible, so as others have mentioned, a Prologue-like game makes sense.

EDIT: I'm personally still hoping for at least a Gran Turismo demo for the PS4 sometime next year. Not a full release, but at least a demo.

Ya I'm calm just... jeez you know? Top Gear... go home you're drunk.

While Top Gear's title was clearly wrong, Kaz was still the one that suggested GT7 could be coming next year. ;)

riving in circles does not take any talent.

Is that so? Take the Sprint Cup car for a race on iRacing at your average intermediate track. You'll change that tone real quick.

As for the whole "not athletes" deal, let's see you in one of those cars at 200 MPH, inches away from others with air pushing yours all over the place, wearing a thick firesuit with 130+ degree temperatures, not to mention 30 lbs of G-forces trying to break your neck every corner. Oh, and make sure to keep enough concentration to let off at the exact same spot in the entry of the corner every single time. If you drive in a foot too deep, you blew the whole thing before it started. And if you make that mistake once, whatever rhythm you were in is now gone, and it may take you 30 laps to find it again, if you even do at all.

Yeah, definitely not athletes.

Edit: A bit off-topic, but I couldn't let this one go.

Yeah, it's basically impossible to have a competitive offline NASCAR race at an oval.

They might release some tech demo in Q1 to boost sales of PS4 (remember GTHD). Of course the real game might also come next year as he says. I do not believe that even though PS4 is easy develop. It was slow modelling car/track process that made GT5 take so long hence we got a compromise with premiums and standards.

Kimi Raikkonen sure had his hands full with such a talentless motorsport

It says on the website that although they have decreased the amount of time it takes to put a car in the game it still takes about 6 months to make one.. they will just have to employ more people!

These are slower than the sprint cars too. :) Marcus Ambrose was a V8 Supercar Champion that races sprint, we said he will quit if he doesn't do well next year.

Your biggest mistake right there is saying you don't like Nascar. You are not allowed to have an opinion on such a matter around here. I know because I made the same mistake here on this forum before. Just smile and pretend you love Nascar. Oh and before people get their panties in a twist I am not saying its a talentless sport. I'm just saying that watching cars going around a track in one direction is not interesting to me.

His biggest mistake, I would presume, is arguing for his opinion to be literally forced on everyone else. A reasonable person would appreciate, at least, the presence of NASCAR if only because other people will love it, no matter what his opinion of NASCAR is.

As for a 2014 release date, the only way I see that happening is if GT7 is pretty much a PS4 port of GT6, with some changes, at least at launch. Maybe they could patch in major things later. Now, I wouldn't really call that GT7 as much as a "GT: PS4". Hell, that could be exactly would PD is planning, for all I know. Have they actually confirmed the next game will be GT7?

Even if you don't like the racing in NASCAR, the cars themselves are surely fascinating. That Nürburgring event in GT5 (I think it was a seasonal, actually) where you had to do two laps chasing was actually a lot of fun. I went in cold, default setup (no ABS, so I used a suitable brake balance at least, also less downforce, probably / stupidly), and it really loved being grabbed by the scruff of the neck and muscled through the corners, which is amazing when you remember, the car is heavy! :)
