Round 2 of the Sophy GT4 series is going live in 10 minutes as I type this. (7pm MST US)

Edit: Stream link below. Race was going well until I had a couple incidents after the pit stops with a certain Lamborghini and it cost me a lot of time. Ended up finishing P8. Caught the lead pack of cars just as we got to the chicane for the last time. Unfortunately we lost a lap due to me switching the pace car to a GT3 car and it ended up being too fast and lapped us. If I had that last lap, I may have been able to get 1 or 2 more spots. Oh well.

Here is one of the incidents in question... 😄

Question: we know that if we add a faster car to a Sophy grid, it removes/smooths out the catch up and slow down issues. But is Sophy pace correlated to our pace?

I ran a test on this weeks Daily Race C, and Sophy's best lap was a 1:441.4xx. I wasn't pushing and just hanged back in last place (I swear I wasn't pushing 🤣). If I improve my pace, will Sophy improve as well?

As a reference, A+ drivers are comfortably doing 1:37.xxx in this race.

Here's a recap I did for a custom race of my touring car championship. It's inspired by modern BTCC and also features some "What if"-entries. As you'll see, I had to make that Golf as wide as possible at some points, cause Sophy AI gave me quite a good challenge :D

Some facts about the custom race setup:
  • Sophy AI
  • 18 laps with fuel set to 2x and tires to 12x, boost set to weak
  • I only used road cars that I fully modified to race cars with racing hard tires
  • to take away some traction of the 4WD-cars, they are equipped with diff settings to make them a bit more "FR"-like. Redbull Ring definitely is the track, where they are still hard to beat, as you'll see in turn 3:lol:

Honestly, this was one of the most fun races I've ever done in GT7 and for me it shows, why this game is so great, seeing all this cars and liveries come to life. Thanks at this point to all the decal and livery-makers!. Hope you enjoy

Did you do a wide body for your cars? I’m messing around with creating my own “TCR” races with hatchback cars that aren’t 4wd

All cars are widebody except the Impreza, Lancer und Atenza. For the Atenza there's no widebody available unfortunately. But it would need one 😅

I REALLY REALLY REALLY hope they change the boost.

I'd rather see "boost" simply be each car race for the position. Seeing how Sophy can race us for position, I think they should extend that to all cars. Especially for the custom races, because there's no game progress issue with it.

Mind you, I'd love this for all of single player as well.

It's been puzzling me fore month because, I’m finding my muscle car grid the biggest challenge yet. Any car I choose, SOPHY is coming at me for position. This is last place through mid pack.
Yes, McLaren F1 SOPHY having 1/2 finishes are still a thing. However, I've done a few rage quits because SOPHY has been giving me the business. Yes, at times doing dirty moves. Thing is, I'm trying to really beat the AI. Even outbraking myself taking myself out, trying to pull off desperate moves and looking too much in the mirror.
I've also done races with Reggie with various results of me getting no where near the front! Don't know what's up with that. Whether PD have done tweeks to Regular AI I don't know.

I've tuned the cars to be more drivable for me and SOPHY. The Camaro is the only one that gets out of shape during hard braking the most. All cars run Sport brake rotors and stock pads, but I think the Camaro is going to need Racing rotors or Carbon rotors to help it stop better. I'm also finding the Chevelle is struggling to pull up as well. The Corvettes have no problem on Sport rotors.

Anyway, when I get the Boss 429 back on the grid I'll share the settings. Using the four speed(and three speed for the Chevelle) have been real joys for as authentic an experience I can make racing these cars with SOPHY and Reggie.

Been doing test races for the next next race in my Sophy GT4 series and Red Bull Ring is giving me fits. Any less than 30 laps and there are a handful of AI cars that don't pit like they should. Any more than 30 laps and everyone pits, but then a handful of cars at the back of the field end up pitting twice, some only a couple laps after their first stop. Not sure what is going on.

Had one race where the AI were being super aggressive. Got taken out by an NSX once (video below) and then made a mistake by trying to pass a car before pit entry and got hooked when they dove for pit lane and spun me out again.
