Anyone has tunes for cars in a JGTC GT500 grid, such as the F40/Viper GTS '02/Diablo/R33?
I've been running them against the holy trinity of GT500 cars (Supra/NSX/GT-R) but its hard to match them because of the massive downforce. Was wondering if anyone had some decent setups before I start downgrading the Gr. 3 cars.
I have a JGTC ‘Legends’ championship, I don’t use any of the Gr.3 cars, they can’t be matched up correctly due to their fuel tanks being bigger, (I mean if you use pit stops).

I use the 92 and 02 NSX instead of the GT500 NSX, standard Supra and GT-R’s R32/33/34/400R.

If you use pits, just use all road cars with tunes, works really well.
It was actually good fun matching the cars in the game to the historical JGTC cars.
I found these cars were part of JGTC over the years, I just combined GT300/500 together for more variety.

Supra
M3 E30
M3 E36
M3 E46
Various Silvia's
Skyline
All the GT-R
Both NSX
Viper 02
Corvette ‘89
Carrera (both ‘95 & 92)
911 Turbo ‘81
911 GT3 ‘01
MR2
Celica
Ford GT ‘06
Impreza ‘04
FTO
Diablo
Countach ‘88
F430
F40
Sprinter Trueno
RX-7 (‘91 & ‘02)

There’s quite a lot you can work with and they all have the correct liveries in GT Auto.
Some of the cars might not be the exact model but they are close enough to have some really great, close racing.

I tuned all of mine to around 650 to 635 at somewhere around the 350bhp, not totally true to real life but good enough to enjoy racing.

Anyway, hope that helped in some way.

Ah yes this sounds like a lot of GT300 cars and Taikyu even. I have most of these cars, and yes it's quite funny I use Group A also aiming for around 630 PP. But I have seperate classes for GT300 and GT500 so even multiclass is possible. For GT500 I aim for around 700pp, GT300 (and everything else in Taikyu) 630pp.
Then a 450pp for hatchback.

I just need to fill the various grids.
Recently rediscovered the amazing 150bp competition with all hatchback. It's amazing racing. Really need to dig up my Suoabase database with all tunes and try to vibecode a website for custom races...

Today I tried to solve Sophy being unable to drive the 97' M3 and found out that you can't choose wide offset in GT Auto anymore (the car also has widebody). Why did PD take this option away? Any thoughts?

Furthermore I was not able to find a setup that the BMW's laptimes got competitive again. Could this be related to the missing wide offset option?

Seems they sorted out the rubbing issue with lowered suspensions. Have mine on the lowest setting and no rubbing during full compression at Road Atlanta. Plus, the wheels are more outboard. So, they’ve probably made adjustments to the front and rear tracks, eliminating the wide offset. I think.

Could you share a screenshot of your tunesheet please that is used by Sophy

IMHO, I use the old GT500 cars as part of a mid 90's Group 3.

Maximize the downforce of the street cars and minimize the old GT500 cars. FYI, The F40 now has a diffuser option in GT Auto which increases the downforce range.

If you want pitstops, I would turn fuel usage off and only worry about tire wear. The AI cars wear pretty much the same, and your driving will affect your tires. Also, when they boost, it seems to affect their tires, so there is a trade off there.

F40, Viper and R33 are done. But the Porsches, that's really a bit hard to make it competitive with Gr. 3 GT500 cars.

Ya, the Porsche is a handful for Sophy. Do your best. It also doesn't have the same power. It's like a different class of car. But, a few months back, I did a LeMans race with one knowing full well I was outclassed. I can understand better why back markers still race even when they know they won't be able to hang. It's the effort that makes it fun ;)

I have to find a good stable set up for it.

Yes, I now tried to 964, 964 Leichtbau with enginge swap, 993 with and without engine swap but all 4 are lacking a bit. Even giving it 737 bhp it wont win lol, whilst Im being 3 seconds faster it just wont go. This is my current GT500 test grid with 2 differnt kind of Supras and 4 different kind of GT-Rs to find out which one is best.

Heres the result of some quick Spa laps. What is also interesting, I had 1 Supra with lowest downforce (started 2nd) and 1 with normal downforce (started 19th) and they both finished podium. Sophy really seems to be going well on aero haha.

So still needs lots of balancing.

Yeah, GT SOPHY is good. Group A, 4 laps of N24 in the E30. The four R31s swept the top four spots. The R31 that started ahead of me in 19th, finished 4th!
Wasnt the case before the update. The R31s struggled with roadholding. That’s all sorted now. The R31s have better grip and SOPHY looks to be driving all cars more naturally. Using curbs and not slip sliding around. Same for me.

Rounding the karussell is much more planted and holds the trajectory. Good stuff.

Not so good stuff is SOPHY dropping straight line speed. It almost feels like the courtesy wave by. One the final straight that doesn’t happen, but on the long fast sections, SOPHY is slowing to let me pass. Not cool.

I had some damage on lap 3 and was only able to do 230 kmh down the final straight. An RS 500 blew past me and way ahead yellow flags waved. An E30 that was closing fast behind had slammed on the brakes not to pass me. That was cool.

Back to Super Touring. Did a race at Tokyo South Clockwise. Reggie was really fast on every section that was straight and from the parking lot to the chicane.

Did a race at Monza no chicane and again, Reggie pulls away. I capitalised Reggie being slower through Ascari and ran neck and neck with an Integra. Then, it started pulling ahead before the braking point. If PD can apply that speed to Reggie’s cornering, we all win.

With a JGTC field of road and race cars I find the new IA way too slow with road cars. Before the update Porsches, F40s, R32s, R33s were in the mix, now they are 10s behind after 2 laps.

And reggie still has a massive tire wear advantage over the player.

The last updated removed a bunch of downforce to the road cars when fully upgraded, so they have worse cornering potential now.

I was never really a fan personally of mixing race and road cars outside of the Alfa 155 in Group A-style races, but after 1.71 it's probably ruined a lot of peoples' mixed grids.

One of my more ambitious custom grids. Based on the World GT Series from TOCA Race Driver 2. Serves as the fodder series to my Group C Series

The XJ220s are engine swapped with XJR-9 engines while the 962s have their downforced reduced as much as possible and maximum ballast.

It creates an interesting balance with inbalance where the Jaguar's are better on straights (both top speed and acceleration) and slow corners while the Porsche's are better on high speed corners, technical complexes and fuel life.

Lowest PP to highest PP at Tsukuba with SOPHY.

Just added RH and a racing silencer to the BAC Mono and it sat at 668 PP. Had to buy lots of engine parts for the other cars to get close to it. Would be a fun series capping power to 300 BHP and adjusting the ballast of the BAC and R500 to help the KTM and Radical.

When I drive the road cars I am not as slow as the IA is.
