Work on GT8 has seemingly started:
(From this Japanese interview)

Should be noted that this means planning and pre-dev stage, so it most likely wouldn't interfere with GT7 post-release content work.
And people have a go at us for (their interpretations of) our translations 🙄

I meant that maybe they have reached a stage where they stop releasing new content and will only focus on correcting errors and bugs. Nothing more.
It's way too early for that - by at least a year. If GT7's live support gets cut off anytime before 2024, you can bet there'll be riots across this entire website.

Gran Turismo users don't fear monger on forums challenge (IMPOSSIBLE) (LIVE SERVICE ENDING!?)

Come off it mate. You'll live life a lot happier if you don't take everything with an unhealthy dose of paranoia.

Let me guess, theme is about microtransactions

Honestly, I had the opposite feeling about all this.

I was thinking that working on the VR port this whole time was taking away from the contents of the monthly updates, and that now we'll get more content in each update, since there's more people working on them. I guess we'll see what's coming this month.

A GT solely on PS5 would be awesome. GT7 already looks stunning even though it's cross platform.

Personal opinion: I wish GT7 would've kept the original city like main menu that was shown in the first trailer.

Here's another example: Even as the disaster that was Dead Rising 4 was nearing completion, work was already starting on, you guessed it, Dead Rising 5.
IIRC, Kaz said the same regarding GT6 too (early work on it being done as soon as GT5 went RTM).

I LOVE GT7 SURELY 1 SINGLE 1 HOUR RACE IS PINNACLE OF PD's 25 YEARS, oh wait

Races

Makes you think how even adding one single event of racing on Nordschleife for 1 hour would make the game a bit better, but no screw that. Oh, PD is literally sponsoring 24 hours of Nurburgring and there is a ton of interesting cars that could be added into the game, oh...screw that too.
lol... did you notice how bad that paymant was for 1 hour events? :D Compare this to 1 000 000 for 1 hour Spa or 550 000 for 30 minutes LeMans :)

I did notice that in Tomahawk era we had 3,2kk per hour so I also can notice how bad payment for 1 hour events are now.

Now that they said GT8 is in development...
They didn't. The translation used for the article is wrong (and also it seems to be quoted through Google Translate; "I'm starting to run towards the next one"? Since when was that a phrase?).

That's not to say GT8 isn't in development - unless GT7 is actually intended as a GAAS title, it's likely that it was before GT7 came out - but that the basis used for claiming it is not accurate.

Most development work on GT7 is work towards GT8 as well anyway.

A lot of People here lack any understanding you see on the other gaming forums, I guess it's about GT being a niche, and maybe more "casual" game.

GT7 is definitely gonna be alive for at least 3 years from now. They haven't even dropped VR and I think that will be getting a lot of further support

I find most of the ill informed commentary is confined to the News and Monthly Update threads. I say commentary, most of it is borderline **** posting. PS VR2, the GT movie, and yes, PC release, are all going to be huge marketing beats for PD to hit. That will take us well into '24. At that point it makes sense to round off GT7 with a Spec 2 release. With a PS5 only GT8 targeting '25, that's my expectation anyhow.
