I've beaten Sophy around Tsukuba. Won the first two races first time. Took two attempts to win on Expert and two attempts in the 1v1. There were some robust overtakes on my part.

According to my experience you only need to get in front and then exploit the fact that Sophy is designed to behave super-sportsmanlike. Just go around the corners a at a safe speed while sticking to the racing line. As long as you stay vigilant, she'll have a really hard time getting past.

Sophy is amazing. I've been away from GT7 for a bit so even on Intermediate it was tough to overtake. The skill jump between them in Beginner and Intermediate seems much bigger than Intermediate to Expert. Beginner almost feels like the standard AI we've had up until now. Kick it up to Intermediate and they are overtaking and pressuring all over the place. Maybe a bit too aggressive at times. Expert felt like I was driving against the best people I've raced against in Sport. Meaning, mostly they saw me as a spec in their mirror.

Nope the message of annoyance is still there even if you have it set to car info only. :banghead:

Welp, the events that haven't registered my completion from Dec still have not registered anything after the update.

Welp, strike all of that. I can't beat her on Alsace. The track is far too wide to keep her from overtaking and there's no way I'm resorting to punting her off. I've been pulling an all-nighter and it's almost 11 am now. Gonna go to sleep and try again later when I'm rested.

 ・WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca
  - Sunday Cup Classic (2 laps)

We're about two weeks short of a full year since GT7's launch. Why are PD still adding these "beginner" Sunday Cup events (that also require menu book progression to unlock)?

I'm not talking about payout, there's no point anymore. Just why such short races? Does it take more man-hours to make a 5/6/7/8/9/10 lap event? Are they designed to be VR demos?

Lemme guess, the 2-lap Nurburgring event is still paying out 25k too...

Looks like the Sophy prizes in the screenshot were a placeholder...

Race 1 (Tsukuba)
Beginner - 10,000cr
Intermediate - 15,000cr
Expert - 25,000cr

Race 2 (Alsace)
Beginner - 20,000cr
Intermediate - 30,000cr
Expert - 45,000cr

Race 3 (Trial Mountain)
Beginner - 25,000cr
Intermediate - 35,000cr
Expert - 50,000cr

Race 4 (Suzuka)
Beginner - 30,000cr
Intermediate - 45,000cr
Expert - 70,000cr

That's a total of 400,000cr if you can win all 12, and clean race bonuses apply. Handily that's around three times (over if you get CRB, under if you don't) the total indicated by the placeholder values for Tsukuba...

Maybe up to 3x what they are would be a decent middle ground.

So, where's the prize for extra menu 16? I spent 2.5 million on the Honda RA272 (already had the McLaren and S800). Got nothing. All 3 cars are filled in and the box is checked. Nothing. No roulette wheel. Nothing happened. What am I missing?

It’s the Honda SF19. Have you checked your garage?

I’ve been to that part of the world mate.
Yeah, and what I'm saying is it's like that in many parts around there.

I think of all those Star Trek episodes where it was glaringly-obvious they'd popped over the hills just out-of-town in order to film various "new worlds".

Then there's Willow Springs. Same dry, sandy, "barren" environment.

Can confirm as a California Bay Area resident.

... The brand new trackside prop cars are a nice touch too.
A resident agrees with me.

Look, I hear you and feel I know where you're coming from. More detail could've been rendered in some areas, I agree.

Willow Springs for example, whilst barren except for small shrubs, at least has a plethora of the plants rendered for a detailed effect.

Haven't had a chance to play today, but how does the grip feel on Grand Valley Highway? Would you say the surface has less grip than you'd expect from the 'proper' race circuit that was Grand Valley Speedway?

I never said the environment was too "dry, sandy or barren", I said I wanted more detail.

I especially dislike the repeating textures on the hills.

This doesn´t look pretty IMO. Also those two random bushes above the tunnel entrance. Cmon.

Anyway. Don´t want to **** on the track or the game cause I like both.

Gonna check out Sophy now.

Haptics feel very different, a lot more feedback.. especially in the wet. Losing traction and feeling the car grip again is something i dont remember.

The visuel glitches on SPA 24hr have been fixed for when its raining and dark. No more glooming brake lights and the spotlights have been toned down, the blocky garbage as you go past is no where near as bad.

Pretty happy with this update and Grand Valley looks incredible.

personally i am pleased with the update, as Sport mode is the only thing i care about. but its worth saying, again -

it is a joke how poor the payouts are and how few big payouts there are. they say they want people to help them build up sophy but i am not really seeing the incentive after one race - it pays as much as a daily race. not to mention, i have to think they could've taken 10 minutes to organize the races into some sort of 'championship' or something. the cafe menu's are also hilarious at this point - buy $15m of F1 cars (is there a race for these?) to get a $1m car. at that point they shouldn't really bother. i am also a bit confused as to why they couldn't include the grand valley races into literally anything. its just weird how they're able to get so much right and then miss truly obvious user-end things.

Following the datamined information, it is likely that the next original circuit should be Red Rock Valley or Tokyo R246. Tokyo shouldn't change anything in terms of the layout as it's based on real life. I'm really curious to see what they do with Red Rock Valley. From the name of the circuit, the environment certainly has to be Nevada. Curiosity is due to the layout, whether they will change or not.

Anyone did tokyo wtc600 or le mans wtc700? Any updates (good or bad) to the crb?
Just did some of the new races and tried some of the new cars.
I'm loving the new honda vintage race car. Very wild to control and its brakes are not good but its an absolute rocket.
Grand vallley ❤❤❤

Re: Sophy

I´m still catching the AI on the straights.

I don´t get it. In ACC even when you tone down the AI they will still drive at full throttle on the straights.

IMO the AI (in the easier modes) should lose time in the breaking zones and in the corners, but NEVER on the straights.

But Sophy is undeniably more fun to race.

Damn! R246 is one of my favorite tracks in the series, I really hope you're right!

I haven’t tried it yet, but are SOPHY using full throttle or the 95% throttle?
