Just tried the Honda RA272 in the WTC 700PP Le Mans race and it's surprisingly good. Very quick and very light on fuel. You could pretty much run the entire race with the fuel map set to 1. So, it's very good but a bit twitchy and skiddy. If anyone can provide a good tune for the RA272 to make it more stable, that'd be brilliant.

Whereas, this is not a lament post, but it is a post to understand:

what exactly is Sophy's goal? To drive like a human being? To drive faster? To drive at a level equal to those she is driving against?

I ask because reading your posts here and there it seems to me that they come from different assumptions.

Starting with one of the definitions of AI (there are a thousand more or less complex ones, but this one, from Gartner, seems to me a good compromise):

"
Here at Gartner, we define artificial intelligence (AI) as applying advanced analysis and logic-based techniques, including machine learning (ML), to interpret events, support and automate decisions and to take actions. This definition is consistent with the current and emerging state of AI technologies and capabilities, and it acknowledges that AI now generally involves probabilistic analysis (combining probability and logic to assign a value to uncertainty).
"

If Sophy wants to drive like a human being, then PD is not putting a real AI on our consoles, just a pre-trained version of it. In short nothing different from what is already there, just with better capabilities than the pre-Sophy AI (great thing eh, don't get me wrong, it would still be a major step forward)

If Sophy wants to drive faster, then it is certainly not by driving against me that she will learn

If Sophy wants to drive at a level equal to those she is driving against ( and this would be, in my opinion, the real killing app) then I understand that this can't be small stuff. PD would really be asking my PS to do machine learning and adaptively adjust Sophy's on-track behavior based on the training set that the races she runs against me offer her. This would mean that each car driven by Sophy would behave differently based on the owner of the PS in front of it.

In short, Sophy would always propose the same level of challenge over time to each of us, taken individually, but in the meantime adapt to us, getting better when we get better, relaxing a little when we get worse. I'm not talking about behavior within the single race, but across many races.

But I don't think that's what it is, at least judging by the different difficulties set with which the challenges are offered.

What do you guys think about it?

I guess a lot of people didn't like the menu gift lmao

In all seriousness though, no way this is a coincidence.

Having been away from the game for almost three months now, does this update actually fix and improve anything relative to game economy and game design? Because from what I am reading on the patch notes it looks to be just another content dump that people will drool over for a month and then forget about it.

Pretty much every track that has been added so far has been american, hopefully this becomes a pattern.

It’s the Honda SF19. Have you checked your garage?
OK. I guess that's it. There's an extra one there, I think. I had an extra one before, but don't remember if I sold it or not. Anyway, would have been nice if they would actually present the car to you like when you buy one. The game did nothing. I had no idea, no indication that I had acquired that car. Thanks for answering my question.

New Grand Valley is amazing. Love the Big Sur / Highway 1 landscape, and the track flows quite nicely for racing. Californians have been spoiled with good tracks in GT7, with Trial Mountain (Tahoe), Grand Valley (Highway 1), Laguna Seca, Willow Springs, and Blue Moon Bay (Half Moon Bay) all being some of the most enjoyable places to race in the game.

There's some good tracks outside of CA that I would like to see as well. I would love to see Road America at Elkart Lake, WI, perhaps with a Fall theme in the foliage. Of course I'm biased as I live in Wisconsin :) They do winter auto cross there. Now that would be a great addition to GT! We need a bit of snow and ice racing....

It did present it for me, with a little scene outside the cafe

Fun litte car to drive around. I found it much better handling without any turbo upgrades. And since the OG car didn't have it anyway, I thought it would be better to not use the upgrade parts.

Took it around Sardegna to find a decent working setup and found one that works for me. It's still a twitchy car, but predictable.
Without the turbo kit, I can't get it below 1:48 on Sardegna. With turbo kit a 1:44 was the quickest I got, but I think my driver needs to see his physical therapist soon.

I’d like to see some other courses set in scenic environments around the US like they did for Grand Valley as well. Going-to-the-Sun Road in Glacier National Park would be good for a mountainous track with a lot of switchbacks and elevation change. Or put Autumn Ring in New England. Maybe a tropical-themed rally course set on Kauai.

But other than that, I think it's time for PD to add another real world circuit in the UK, Australia, Argentina, or part of Asia outside of Japan.

I think the Citroen DS lets you adjust the ride height without any suspension upgrades - isn’t that how it was IRL, too?

Macau or another V8 supercars race track like the Gold Coast 500

"Algorithm" is a fancy word for "whatever Kaz decides"
Quite the conspiracy there.

LCD and UCD listings are usually generated months ahead, in a pseudo-random way that ensures each car comes back frequently enough (usually 1/2 months or so, and normally the same repeat order).

The Escudo was available again once (in July) after it was released (June). The July update seems to have erased the Escudo from the car pool by accident. It was not and won't be seen again unless they take a proper look.

I guess PD intern just forgot this car existed in the game.

Sounds great, so the RA272 could be a good car for Tokyo WTC600 maybe too, if it can handle the wet with those thin vintage race tires and not lose too much time on the main straight. I reckon Praiano will do a tune at some point on GT Planet, possibly. I did notice that increasing rear camber, changing roll bars to 6 at front & 4 at rear and putting the LSD values higher (to get more understeer, car felt a bit oversteery non tuned imo) certainly helped a bit in getting it more stable and solid to drive.

No conspiracy, I doubt it was malicious, just somebody typed up a list and left the Escudo off it, then somebody else (Kaz, or his proxy decision maker) signed off on it without reading it.

Yeah, the "free" update thing was done in response to some people saying the updates weren't free due to things such as "paying for internet and the game". and that was done because some people were defending GTSport content updates just because they were free. Which to be fair, isn't a great argument. But so wasn't saying "but I payed for the internet though, so it's not free".

With that said, I can at least say the bonus menu rewards are better than some of the ones we got in the past. I rather win 100,000 cr or a Super Formula car for my car collecting than some engine swap.

I can't say I have tried the Sophy A.I. yet on the count they would probably beat me, I still lose to some of the rabbit chasing A.I. that most people on this forum could beat easily.

As for rebooted Grand Valley Speedway, I like it, but also don't like it. I think for the idea Polyphony Digital seemingly had, it's pretty cool. They wanted to clearly make their own fictional race track based on California's Highway 1 (yes, highway 1 is real), but also wanted to bring back one of their iconic race tracks and give it a new look like with the other 3 tracks added. I honestly love the scenary, being able to drive on a bridge over looking over to the pacific ocean on the left, plus taking on curves on a mountain road, there's some fun to be had here. and plenty of great photomode opportunities.

However in doing this, they also sacrificed the original amazing scenery that GVS was known for and I still loved. I really wanted to see a 4kHD faithful remake of the original track with more detailed grass and textured metal on that blue bridge in the back. Polyphony choosing to reimagine this track meant losing that.

Personally, I wish they would just do both; reimagine the track how they want with the new California mountain road scenery, but also make a version that's a better graphical version of the classic track. Not just for this GVS, but also for the other legacy tracks.

Not that it would happen, fans can scream until the cows come home and Kaz will still just be focusing on whatever vision he has at the moment. He's seldom responded to feedback and when he does; it's never immediate.

Do you know anything about the Ford Roadster? That one has been missing for almost as long as the Escudo.

I never said the environment was too "dry, sandy or barren", I said I wanted more detail.

I especially dislike the repeating textures on the hills.
You've conveniently not quoted me in full:

I said I got where you were coming from and agreed that there was a lack of detail of the vegetation in parts, citing Willow Springs as an example of what could be done with that area detail-wise:

Look, I hear you and feel I know where you're coming from. More detail could've been rendered in some areas, I agree.

Willow Springs for example, whilst barren except for small shrubs, at least has a plethora of the plants rendered for a detailed effect.

This doesn´t look pretty IMO. Also those two random bushes above the tunnel entrance. Cmon.

Anyway. Don´t want to **** on the track or the game cause I like both.

Gonna check out Sophy now.
Agreed; they did a good job overall and we're picking out a couple of areas where they dropped the ball somewhat.

Hope you had fun with Sophy mate!

Why are there emotes on top of the Sophy cars? Could someone explain that to me, please?
I believe Jordan went over some of it in his GTPlanet video, but it's supposed to be the current emotion of Sophy as you race them.

I'm starting to think BugBear designed the new track .. Why do I say that ? Because bugbear has a long running cows and aliens easter egg going on and Grand Valley has .. Cows and aliens..
