The concerning point for me is how every time is more slow the release of tracks, from getting a track every 1 -2 months in GT Sport, to a track every 6 months the first year to have to wait an entire year for a new track 3 years later.
A way I look at this is:

GT Sport wasn't a full Gran Turismo game. That game didn't have nearly the level of stuff we have in Gran Turismo 7 (PSVR2 support, Cafe menu, Classic Car dealership, etc.) so when you just have the focus on e-sports with a single player mode hastily crammed in afterwards, focusing on new tracks make sense and is easier to do.

Granted, that's just my opinion.

Motegi is a possibility.

The Dutch PD track modeller that was posting on reddit (to later erase everything as he got on trouble) said that there were surprises coming later in the year on the next updates ( I don't remember exsctly but I think that happened after the January update missing a track) so I think we will get at least another track this year.

With cars we have a well stablished output (3.5 cars a month in avg) but tracks is not stable and as time goes is more amd more slow and scarse the output.
Are we gonna keep ignoring that in comparison, GT Sport was also a far smaller game on release next to GT7? To the point where people actively complained there wasn't enough content.

Is not the content at release, is how the continuous development of new content has been behaving, cars is stable and we know that the expected output is 3 cars per month, but the fluctuations on track development are not only being unstable but also not improving over time; caused by licensing, modelling, PS4 hardware limitations?? Obviously we will never know the background, but the cold numbers are there and quite concerning for tracks output🤷‍♂️

I think PD should add the offline livery editor because livery editor is now part of GT Auto unlike in Gran Turismo Sport which made it; it's own separate thing.

I think an offline livery editor would be a great idea.

In the forza games for an example, You still have your livery even when the game is offline.
Right and it should be an option for whenever the gt7 online servers end after gt8 is released. I was so mad when I got my 700 liveries when GTsport died in Feb 2024. I put a lot of work and labor into designing each car and suit livery, but then to have them all taken away!! Is bullcrap.

Interestingly, Formula E are in Tokyo for a double-header the same week as this unusually-timed upcoming GT7 update.

I seem to recall something about a Gen 2 car (possibly the Jaguar team) being scanned years ago, but it never showed up. That car is outdated by now, but that doesn't seem to matter much to Polyphony.

The update timing could be entirely coincidental and unrelated, but it would be a pretty neat marketing play if a Formula E car of some kind was being added.

Surely they would have transferred to GT7 beforehand? There was kind of a big deal about that.

They did transfer over to GT7, but only liveries that you had "shared" in GT Sport. That uploaded the liveries to the servers; otherwise they were only stored on the local system.

Except that is exactly the difference in why GT Sport got content over its lifetime compared to GT7 right now: Content wise, GT7 on release was basically GT Sport with all its combined DLC content at the end of its life (Minus the Mercedes W08 and Fittipaldi EF7 VGT for some reason) just with some added content.

I get it, PD keep us in the dark about their plans but Its been 27 years at this point. How is it not figured by now that they are simply moving to THEIR own schedule and not some "Unstable" development?

Well see, I didn't share any car/suit liveries to anyone in GTsport. Dang, well it's too late for that now. I learned a lesson about that.

Yeah, I think PD should incorporate the livery editor when GT7 goes offline. Instead of the livery editor being it's own thing, it's part of GT Auto.

I think PD should be notified about this.

Then the liveries were deleted when GT Sport went offline, including local ones. I think PD should keep the liveries when GT7 goes offline.

That's what I thought, see there's already enough layouts for some circuits here, Maggiore for one. Also, I think the Kei Truck will be an interesting twist to the usual Kei and lightweight cars that already exist in gt7. It would be fun to do a custom one-make race at Tsukuba in that special truck. For beginners...

This level 50 collector with 550-560k collection rating (Me ) is definitely gonna drive this Kei Car. 👍

Is it because PD cant get a license to model a new track or do you think its too much work and they only have capacity for cars and game features
Well on that first point it's also noteworthy that the last 3 new circuits have all been fictional:
  • Eiger Nordwand
  • Lake Louise
  • Grand Valley
These of course don't have any issues with licencing.

On the second point I would imagine the track modeling people are not the same ones that model the cars.

It makes me wonder, even though we talk about how Kaz said they release content as soon as it's ready and don't hold stuff back for the next game, does that mainly apply to cars, or does that equally apply to tracks not being held back?
Due to how much more development time a track needs compared to a car, it would make some sense to hold them back in order to have more new content to show off at the next game's launch.

It applies to all the content, even though they should have programmed relesases (content ready in certain treshold of time)

Not sure if it's just me, but I'm having a hell of a time loading liveries tonight. Almost every single one fails to load at least once. They're also slow to load in the GT Auto showroom.

I bet the new Kei truck will be an attraction for a lot of gt7 players. They can use and expand it in a lot of modes in the game. PD might do a one-make daily race A with it for all we know. Maybe coming in the near future...
