I'm seeing many rumors about motegi being added to gt7
You know that's from May 2024 and we reported on it at the time, right?

If they scanned it in May 2024, then they've had around 1 year & 9 months of development time up to now.
I recall the car development time was said to be about 9 months, but can't remember if it was ever said how long a track takes.
I'd imagine that Mobility Resort Motegi is quite far along in development by now though.

Still hope it includes a digitally-restored/renovated oval, given the real world oval is too damaged to use for racing.

When Bathurst was being scanned, it was back around March 2012. Was announced in October 2013 for GT6 debut in December 2013. So, that’s about one year and nine months.
Not sure how much harder either track would be to replicate.

Wonder how long the turn around for CGV and Abu Dhabi to be in GT7

Also I thought car development took about 3 months to get things scanned into the game and what not

2024 post, just @Famine have said, that's a old story, It's rumored to be in game, but it's been two years, and again no sign of Motegi in game.
Just Montreal Circuit, the only thing is... wait... :-P

Just because they scanned the circuit doesn't mean they're actively working on modeling it.

Wasn't someone on this forum able to date when they scanned Yas Marina and CGV based on certain trackside elements present? I can't find the post but while Yas Marina was quite recent, CGV was a few years ago (I want to say 2021-2022).

It's likely to be 2020 or before for CGV, as in the CGV Scapes, part of the F1 pit equipment was pink like the Racing Point team, who became Aston Martin from 2021 onwards. Scapes don't always mean the date which they captured the track, I imagine, but it does make sense if possible to do both at the same time and avoid the cost of a second trip.

🤔🤔🤔🤔

Since Kaz & SIE don't want to pay out for Monaco or Silver Stone, Twin Ring Motegi is probably one of the best alternatives for us who played GT from GT3&GT4, apart from some other F1 track. But I guess this is a good option if we'll get it. The expensive [real world] track money could be saved to GT8??

Seeing how we just got Yas Marina and CGV, a safe assumption would be that Motegi would be released late Spring or early Summer.
The time difference between a track being scanned and that track appearing in a GT title can be more than 5 years.

If Motegi was scanned in 2024 then it'd be a little optimistic to assume it will appear this year... Though that doesn't mean it's impossible.

Where is this coming from?

I usually don't remember 2 year old articles about a game lol

I did a post sometime ago about that:
From a post I wrote in September:

The Yas Marina we got seems to be from 2024, at the earliest, if we look at the runoff in turn 9. That Alfa Romeo banner you pointed out was present in 2024 too:

Yas Marina is quite recent (2024), but we could assume that it was heavily pushed by the Abu Dhabi government.

Doubtful that the same will happen with Motegi, even if that tweet is correct. So we shouldn't expect it to come anytime soon, unless we want to get disappointed.

But you do remember two-year old Tweets about a game lol?

And then present them as if they're new and current lol?
Pretty sure it was retweeted/quote-tweeted recently, though I can't remember by who, or if there was a specific reason/context as to why it became relevant again to now.
That'll be why Motegi has come up in conversation again though.

Edit: found it.

I feel like, for clarity, it needs to be stated, because people will make assumptions otherwise: Motegi liked that tweet in 2024.

There are no new developments here other than that Twitter user going "remember when this happened?".

We talk about it semi-frequently on the GTPodcast...

The "new" Tweet only notes that the original was "Liked" by the official Motegi account. Since the ability to see what other accounts have Liked was removed in June 2024, this too is old, old information - as noted by the actual source ("Collection from back when you could still see other people's likes").

For something a bit more recent, Motegi is currently being resurfaced (ongoing since December, due for completion February 22), so any scan prior to the present will be... old, with Motegi noting it's the first full resurface since 1997.

Here's the latest on the construction work 👀

The new surface is starting to take shape!

Well the Twitter account you linked is a notorious troll and ****poster in the GT community, so it's best to avoid his contributions entirely.

Does this resurfacing include repairing the oval track to make it suitable for high-speed racing?

I can't say, really. From what I understood, the damage to the oval is structural (from the Tohoku earthquake in 2011) rather than on the surface. I've seen no images of the oval in the various resurfacing posts either. I'd probably guess at "no", but it's only a guess.

The name switch from "Twin Ring" to "Mobility Resort" could imply they only intend to be a single-track circuit from now on, that being the road course, but I hope that's not the case.
They would need an actual reason to renovate the oval though.

IndyCar had been considering making a return to Motegi as part of a future international expansion. It was believed to be on the road course, however that would be the best incentive for Honda (the circuit owner) to eventually renovate the oval at some point.
Honda's also been considering joining NASCAR, another series looking into international expansion.
If they also want a domestic series to use it, I'd personally like to see Super Formula have a round on the oval.
