Speaking of the radar, it seems like this race just confirms it, the Surface Water has been starting at 0% for all Sport Mode races regardless of the weather for a while now. If there's any moisture before the start of the race it's what gets added during the grid/rolling start. Any chance PD are looking at this....?

I don't own the Power Pack, after seeing the kind of endurance races they built (dull, uninspired and lazy in many ways, no damages, no proper save), I didn't buy it.
The power pack is actually worth the money, many races, nice cars and a very healthy payout for those that needs the credits.

I haven't tried the endurance races, but from what i understand they don't suck as much as those you create yourself.

No, and that's just my opinion. Paying for a cheap version of what Career Mode should be? No thanks.

No, but this time it's not a matter of opinion, but of fact.

Has the pre-race weather radar always had what I assume is an accurate motorway/A-road network for the location?

Like here, as an example taken from this week's Daily C, you can see the proper real life major roads around the Le Mans area:

Probably yes and I just missed it. An odd thing to include though.
For what I remember, it was always present, if you zoomed in max

Yes it was always there. I think it's pretty cool to get a view on the actual location and environment of the circuit, for example the access roads to Le Mans.

Interesting quote from Nishino, PlayStation's CEO:

"We believe that live service games are content that attracts users on a global level, so we want to continue to revitalize the market through both first-party and third-party content,"Hideaki Nishino said in a new interview with Famitsu celebrating the magazine's 40th anniversary. "We are not only focusing on promoting new releases, but also considering what we can do with older titles in the medium to long term. Also, this year we are planning to release our own live service title, MARVEL Tōkon: Fighting Souls, and we hope everyone will enjoy it."
Bolding is mine.

they don't attract, they trap. Guess they still didn't get that time is limited at an individual level. Global users are a collection of individuals.

We're certainly not done with unfinished "long term" games that are unplugged once finished....

Unfortunately the Circuit Experience mode is driving me near-crazy. I check the demos and the car turns super fast and stable... me? It won't even corner close to that fast. Also how do they even accelerate/brake instantly when for players it takes half a second to do any of this?

Ugh. Good thing I know how to control myself nowadays. I just closed the game and meditated a bit instead of breaking a tantrum like younger me would've done.

I did still manage to get 380% on Circuit de Gilles Villeneuve but that full-lap gold is too much for me. I did 1:37:219 as my best.

I still love Gran Turismo though. It's just that some game modes are not for average drivers like me and most of the community.

Another edit: Am I the only one who thinks that everytime PD changes the physics that the target times become harsher and harsher? I'm having some hard time silvering some stuff that I'd easily gold back then.

Gr4 cars are too slow. Around Watkins Glen real GT4 cars were doing 1:45 laps and the TCR cars were doing 1:56. I can do the 1:56 in the TCR car but the AI on pro with boost set to mild so it's as off as it ever gets, in Gr4 cars where only doing 1:54 laps. Nine seconds off real world pace. On the upside Reggie got wrong at the chicane four time during the test race. That's almost as bad as the real drivers in last evening 6 hours of the Glen.

The same could be said about the time trials.. If you're capable of achieving <3% in them, you could gold the Circuit Experiences.

Perhaps you can look back on TGR Tidgney's youtube channel if there was a lap guide for the combo in Circuit Experience, so that you could use it as a guide to cut some time off your lap? It doesn't help they don't let you hotlap the CE but you should be able to use your ghost.

The demo ghosts might still be recordings made with earlier game physics versions. That was certainly the case back when the game launched, e.g., the Circuit de la Sarthe CE where your car couldn't enter the first of the Porsche curves flat out like the demo ghost could without losing the rear.

It's BoP.

PD have decided among themselves that Gr.4 and Gr.3 need to be balanced around a performance level way slower than how GT4s and GT3s run in real life.

The Cayman loses 75bhp and puts on 70kg under BoP conditions. No wonder it's slower than the real life equivalent.

Similarly a lot of the modern GT3s are 100bhp less powerful than you'd expect, because PD have balanced Gr.3 around roughly 450bhp for reasons unknown. It's really obvious when you compare laps in the AMG events, ACC/LMU/iRacing laps are multiple seconds a lap faster than GT ones.

It wasn't always like this, everything got a huge nerf in early 2025.

Did you check the assist settings and if counter steering assist is enabled?
It drove me crazy when I was doing the license tests (especially the test with the the suzuka hairpin) and that assist was enabled...

FWD cars would be wheelspinning too much if they had the power that would get them to those RWD 1:45 lap times, and tire wear and handling need to be factored in. They could alter the physics to give the FWD cars crazy tire life at the front and a grip boost but idk what their thinking is on artificial physics changes like that. They could also have separate BoPs for when tire wear is a component in a race but PD probably doesn't want to do all of that rebalancing. Another option is to just separate them out of the category but I don't think PD would do that either.

Personally I think the power the BoP is at is pretty fun for Gr.4 but I wouldn't be mad at a power increase either because it's maybe a little too low.

As for Gr.3, maybe they thought it was too much power for the average player? That would be a strange worry with all of the driving aids available though.

probably because only one of them is actually a GT4 (the Porsche), the others are all recycled stand ins from GT Sport. all the mock up Gr3s (like the Mustang, Corvette, and NSX) are well off the pace compared to the real GT3s as well.

I think that is just stupid. Isn't the point of BOP both in real life and in video games to bring cars into a similar performance window to where no one brand is completely out to lunch?

I know IRL things are a bit trickier, and in racing games there will always be a META car, but you'd think that the goal would be to ensure as many cars are competitive as possible, withing reason of course.

The fact that PD has a habit of nerfing both older cars, and what I'd consider "Dream Cars" compared to current real GT3 machines is stupid. Why even have them in the same class at all?

This especially sucks for fans of brands that don't have a current GT3 car IRL(Alfa Romeo, Jaguar, etc) or a car that would even qualify for GT3 at all(Mitsubishi)

I'm all for PD original Gr.3 and Gr.4 cars mixed in with the real cars, but not if they are treated like second class citizens :/

So we're now in July.
Given the last update we had was on the 11th of June, do we think the next update will also be in the first half of this month, or is it more likely that we'll return to having updates on the final Thursday of months? (30th July in this case)

End of the month. If we're lucky.

We're kind of in the Wild West in terms of update timing in general. Of the last six updates, five have not been in the standard slot:
  • September 2025 was on a Wednesday
  • Spec III/December 2025 was at the start of the month
  • January 2026 is the sole one in this set that was on the last Thursday of its month
  • March 2026 was in the middle of the month
  • April 2026 was the week before the final Thursday
  • June 2026 was again in the middle of the month (presumably aiming for Le Mans)
So who knows anymore, silhouettes could crop up at any time of the month at this point.

No more games with physical disc from 1 January 2028 so if gt8 release is in 2028 no disc version

Combined with this: https://blog.playstation.com/2026/07/01/an-update-on-playstation-store-for-ps3-and-ps-vita/
It makes a very clear statement on their view of ownership of games

No more physical game discs starting January 1, 2028. So if GT8 is released in 2028 or later, there won't be a physical disc version.

A shame to see things move to be so anti-consumer, whilst having no power to stop it.
This is horrible for everyone except them. Even if you've never bought a physical game in the past 15 years, this gives them total control of the PS games market.
No physical media means no used games to drive down prices. Things will be £50-70 for eternity and you'll have to suck it up.

Disconcerting to see the industry collapse around you and push you out of it.

Bolded is the main point for me, personally.

Going to be honest, it being digital-only on its own doesn't massively bother me. But there being absolutely no downward pressure on Sony's prices does.

Steam has downward pressure from the likes of external code sites, but you can guarantee Sony won't allow anything like that to exist and undercut them.

Worse... Sony could make the games all subscribtion based. Pay 49.99€/$ per year & title to play/have acces to a game or pay something like 79.99€/$ per month to have access to all titles. No more "unlimited" access and still regular profits with "live service" titles for sony ._.

So PD could go the route of having one team's F1 car in GT7 (or any other future GT title) or just do a fictional one based on the new regulations then?
This fictional f1 conversation brought a thing back to my mind. How and why GT7 still doesnt have fictional Nascars? It would be an easy no-brainer addition, as also in real life Nascars are basically separated by liveries. 80s, 90s, 00s.. just one model each just like the formulas.

Technically, you can turn the Mustang American Racer into a NASCAR. But it's more of an ARCA setup.
