Though we haven't heard anything else about it since then to my knowledge.
If/when Motegi does come back, I really hope it's not a Yas Marina situation where we only get 1 layout, despite the alternate layout road surfaces already being modelled.

Who says Yas Marina will remain with just the one layout? The entire compound is modeled and it’s just a matter of whether or not alternate layouts are in PD’s update pipeline. Catalunya had extra layouts added.

Unless you have direct knowledge of the development team, no one can make that statement. The Bugatti circuit at Le Mans and Suzuka West are also modeled, yet they haven't appeared in GT7. Of the latest additions, Eiger only has one variant, whereas it had three extra rally tracks in GT6. Polyphony's ways are inscrutable.

Which is really odd in hindsight, because that show otherwise felt like it was put together assuming only people from Japan would ever watch it. Like it wasn't even targeted at overseas viewers who were fans of Japanese games.

But it does mean don't discount it as a possible announcement avenue.

I think there is a good chance after what Jordan teased and with the current update out the way, I think State of Play is best place to provide an update on what is in store for GT7 later this year.

I realised what happened, GTPlanet got new affiliate Fanatec posts and made me assume I had already seen the last post when scrolling on mobile.

Anyway, I wonder if Sony will do a U-turn on disc plans, if not and they extend GT7 support, might not get a proper next-gen GT on disc unless Kazunori-san stamps them.

Unfortunately the plan for disks seem rock-set, unless something drastic happens. GT8 will probably come out digital only, and I'm not happy about it 😭

In the meanwhile GT7 might get an extended lifespan, it might not. I wouldn't mind either way personally

They did get pushed into extending PS3 and PSP support. Seems crazy own goal to me to not to keep disc support getting rid of their USP. They only launched the disc drive add-on less than three years ago. They struggled to keep it in stock for a long time and still have the following mentioned on listing: "Due to high demand, there is a limit of 1 per order."

Console with disc drive is their best selling SKU even though digital is more subsidised, yet they are trying to fast-track end of disc production probably due to new leadership obsessed with ways to increase profitability and convenience.

I think only new hardware Sony have coming out soon is DualSense Edge V2 so availability of that might be announced.

Personally prefer they announce end of GT7 support ASAP, it will be good if this is the last hurrah leaving GT7 as a better game for PS4 and PS5 players and they can fully focus on their next game. It would be great if they can announce their next title this year so they can start talking about it.

I see the vision, but I probably keep one eye closed and one eye open. I can see a big update, but nothing like a spec 4 type of update.

As I said, it’s a matter of whether or not PD will do something about it.
 
I'm really impressed with the custom parts available for the new Caterham! I didn't even install a widebody and you can even install three different tape patterns on the headlamp lenses! Not to mention that I think there's like, four or five roll cage options. Makes a lot of sense that you can't make it any lighter, but I can't help but to wonder how insane it'd be with all the power-related upgrades and racing brakes! Heck, I only put Sport Softs on one - plus a ballast and power limiter - and its PP is already above 600!

Looks like the Tracks Suggestion Forum has started going through a bit of a visual update.

Some threads have had titles adjusted & flag emoji's added (might be all of them eventually?), and it seems that 🎌 denotes a Polyphony-Original circuit.
Pretty neat, but wondering what prompted the update to happen. Could there be more search tags on the way, for example? Like having all 🇺🇸 tracks appear in their own sub-section as well as in the big combined 19-page list? Or countries grouped by continent/region like the World Circuits map?
Or is it purely making the threads all follow a uniform title format with some added visual references?
Thought it was cool either way.

I've tried to make sense of the new PP values and from what I can tell, they changed the calculation in a way that results in a bigger impact of weight. i.e. heavier cars have lower PP. However, the effect on laptimes is negligible, which means that these heavy cars with lower PP benefit now in races where PP is limited.

They also seem to have decreased the impact of top speed in the calculation, which becomes apparent especially in muscle cars where default gearing is often way too short, and it used to change the PP value quite a lot when adding a custom gearbox. This effect is almost gone now, so muscle cars especially are hugely undervalued in terms of PP.

Effectively, they seem to have made the PP value much more of a handling score than indicative of laptime.

I was looking in there to update Sugo to "Done (GT7)" at 3am after some whisky and thought "well that's a bit of a mess", so started tidying up the titles in the first page by recent posts (some of which turned out to be bumps, so there's now some outliers) and by vote, and that was the first thing that sprung to mind. Nothing deeper :D

I think that emojis are alphabetically sorted too, so to tidy it up further and get rid of the parentheses that I don't really like, I'm tempted to shove the flag first and see what happens with the alphabetical sorting. Edit: Apparently it just sees the emojis as [OBJ] and sorts them without consideration for what they are.

I already did... I think the first ten pages by recent, A-Z, and Likes in the Cars forum a couple of years back.

Wow, yeah I can't imagine even attempting to sort out all 278 pages of the Cars Suggestion Forum lol. At least the Tracks Forum only has 19 pages, though that's still a lot of work.
