Oh yeah, it's never going to happen, but still.

At this point I really have no earthly idea why there isn't dynamic time and weather on every track. I don't even know what additional information they'd need to slap the effects onto each and every one.

It's the one thing (racing related) that I want in the game.

I want to be able to race Bathurst in the rain ffs.

I'm now imagining The Esses turning into a waterslide lol.
Maybe that's something Polyphony want to implement with their rain system; rivers running across the track in areas of steep elevation.
I think I've seen some racing games try that, but can't remember which ones.
 
If I recall correctly, Kaz was asked about dynamic time and weather "recently", like in an interview before GT7 came out or maybe the GT Sport days idk. It was something about them wanting to keep the 24hr cycle accurate to races held irl and rain limited to regions that get it frequently?? I need to be fact checked on that but no matter how I think about it, there is no justification for it that makes sense other than lack of priority.

I don't know if he was trying not to embarrass Sony or what but it's clearly because of performance. Interlagos has had some of the most famous rain races ever. Performance was also the original reason for the much-hated wide rolling starts, if I remember correctly.
 
I think the limitation of rain options is due to lack of meteorology data captured at the time of scanning the circuit. The scanning team is entirely based in Japan, so theoretically it means they're limited in time as they're visiting the site within the scanning trip's schedule (per visa regulation).

I'm unsure if the detail to recreating the weather that was touted in the GT7 State of Play is to be believed, but in real life you can go for a month to a single location and you either have plenty of rain to log the location of puddles, rainfall intensity, drying lines, and cloud types to recreate the scene in-game, or you don't. It's unfortunate that notoriously rainy places like Daytona or Interlagos don't have them, and the loss of rain options for Brands Hatch, Monza, and Eiger, but it may also explain the lack of this option in their original circuits as well.

Still though, I don't understand why Dragon Trail Seaside can't have rain, while Gardens can, yet used seldomly in solo events.

Interesting; I had no idea any of the American tracks allowed weather. :dunce:

the Word Series gift cars ? I Did receive my credits for predicting one of the winners.

The stealth cars gifts of the viewers campaign are still on hold, pending fix of the issues PD experienced. Still plenty of time available to clic and win the cars until the end of the month once they fix the issues and enable the viewers campaign back again

This is two different things.

Credits for winner predictions ("Predict the Winner Campaign") have been distributed, yes. The credits will be a ticket in your garage's Gifts section.

For the gift cars ("Viewers' Gift Campaign") the portal was taken offline while the error is being investigated. It's currently offline still, but PD will post an announcement when it returns. You have until 0859 UTC on August 31st to click on the two buttons when they're available, so still almost two weeks.

I was able to submit my entries for the two stealth cars a few minutes ago, by going to the "Gran Turismo Live" button on the top right, then pressing the "Watch Programme" button and just watching the streams from there.

Not sure if it was properly registered, but the game does say my entry was submitted.

Quick note for everyone on credit tickets rewards for the "Predict the Winner Campaign".
Be careful that their expiration date is on 31st August, they don’t last one month as roulette tickets do.

PD is being very sneaky by hiding/combining the viewers campaign in the live button.

No theory quite fits tho, it's baffling.
Personally i think one of the reasons is something to do with the game code/older scans. The OG Dragon Trail doesnt have rain but Gardens layout which arrived later does have rain, Interlagos, Bathurst, all older scans.No rain.
Dont ask me why Deep Fofest doesnt have rain even though it showed up in a trailer 😂

Yeah…

Road Atlanta, Watkins Glen, Daytona, Grand Valley, Yas Marina, Eiger etc etc list go on. Most of new tracks doesn’t have rain so this theory is falling apart to be honest.

This is not GT7 news and Lewis has said this story before but good to see he is still repping Gran Turismo. Hopefully in the future, there will be more GT content in collaboration with him.
