Worth noting that he never said the game was delayed.

He said the last time a media event from Sony was cancelled on such short notice it resulted in a delay. (TLOU2)

You’re actually drawing your own conclusions from that.
Did you ignore the part where he deleted a tweet? Have you even checked other forums? People there are worried that the game might get delayed because of his tweets. Just like I said, he's creating unnecessary confusion for people who aren't following this preview event. Also, in that tweet he mentioned that the cancellation of this said event is "concerning". How is that tied to the actual state of the game? Sony probably delayed it for technical reason but that doesn't mean the actual launch date of the game is affected by it. If there will be a delay so be it, they will make an official announcement about it, but there's no point confusing people for social media clout.

Nope, as I said before the delay tweet was about TLOU2, but had many people (like you) confused - hence he deleted it.

I think calling a short notice cancellation of a preview event without giving a reason a “tad concerning” is fair.

He never said it was delayed.

He said the event was cancelled - which is true and he said the last time that happened on such short notice the a game was delayed - also true.

🤷‍♂️

For those who don't know him. Tom Henderson is pretty accurate with Battlefield 2042 leaks. So he isn't dude from nowhere who doesn't have his sources. He is pretty well known insider in gaming world.

He said the same for GT Sport.
Looking at most tracj racers on consoles around that time it definetly was, pulling off a iRacing style structure on consoles was definetly new ground.
I think the prospect of Daily Races with dynamic weather is exciting

They also added the livery editior which was a great addition to the series. Sport was highly ambitious.

One thing I would like to see happen in GT7 (even though it's unlikely)

Is for the Gr.1 cars to be split up, so that the group c cars are in a race car category of their own.
Because I just want to have group c only races in arcade (the GT7 equivalent) and online.

Releasing a racing game with a livery editor in 2017 wasn't ambitious. It was adhering to the standard. It was ambitious when Need for Speed did it 14 years earlier.
With graphical fidelity never seen before on console + the ability to use upload vector images to use as liveries on cars? Sounds ambitious as hell to me 🤔

it's not uncommon that there's not only an embargo but an NDA - and an NDA for the NDA, so you can't even talk about the NDA or the embargo.
But what abo it talking about the NDA of the NDA? :D

... that were then converted to bitmap images again :D

PC games have done that for years. It being on console doesn't really make it any huge achievement, nor was it particularly ambitious for PS4 hardware. It was more than capable.

Dynamic time/weather on PS3 hardware. THAT was ambitious.

To be clear I'm not saying the GTS livery editor wasn't good, it obviously was/is very good. But I wouldn't call any aspect of it ambitious.

Doing it with a Jaguar CPU that's weaker than our cellphones CPU still sounds ambitious to me 🤷

Why? It has nothing to do with the CPU and everything to do with writing the required API and IO tools and are using existing standards for graphics.

Livery editors are not ambitious now and they weren't when GTS' released, the SVG import tool was a nice addition, but certainly wasn't a revolution in terms of livery editor tools overall.

The GTS livery editor was a classic example of standing on the shoulders of others, PD did it really, really well, and its a fantastic tool. What it's not is ambitious or ground-breaking.

Now if GTS had given us the ability to directly extract wireframes and then build and import full liveries via .dds (as per most PC livery editing, allowing the use of any format of graphic, including SVG in the creation), that would have been ambitious for console.

You had to upload a vector image from your PC, on which that image was made on your PC, and then a PC from Polyphony had to interpret that image so that it could be uploaded to its servers. I'm pretty sure the Jaguar CPU didn't do anything, only load the converted vector image in the game.

I'm definitely looking forward to GT Cafe, and all the possible collections that could be there. I'm hoping that some collections have more than just three cars, but even if they were all just three cars, there's still a ton of potential for what sort of motifs could be used. For example, there could be a collection where you have to get the three 2016 LMP1 racers. And as the release date trailer may've implied, maybe there'll be a four-car collection focused on the Nissan Skyline GT-R.

EDIT: And if the updates are anything like GT Sport, where we eventually got tons of cars added, maybe we could see additional GT Cafe collections get added, too!

It looks like we're going to have to collect certain cars to access certain tracks. Not sure I'm fond of that idea. I want to collect cars I actually want, not collect for secondary purposes only to just have them collecting virtual dust and taking up space in my garage.

I can't really see the appeal of GT Cafe personally, unless Ive missed something. It suggests you acquire X cars to complete a collection and.....then what? Also this isn't an open world RPG where you have to go hunting to find items to collect, the cars are all sat there in the dealerships just waiting for you to buy them. Maybe you have to wait for a used car to come around, but that's about it.

In past GT games some cars could not be bought only won in certain races/missions if I recall correctly. Could be something like that. Also earning enough money to buy certain cars will obviously be a challenge in and of itself.

gotta catch em all

That was already part of GT though. I'm just not seeing what GT Cafe is adding to the experience, other than as @warp9engage says, it seems we have to complete collections to unlock tracks, probably in Arcade Mode. But in terms of collecting cars, what does it add other than encouragement to collect certain cars?

I agree that the car collecting seems a bit weird and not very appealing. Especially when it comes to the grandma grocery getters we’re told to collect in the example.

I actually love small cars in GT and I was already looking forward to day one Demio racing.

As for the car collecting part. It’s possible they just want to add a bit more fun around what we already do. In most cases we win and buy cars just for one or two races and then they sit forgotten about, maybe PD want to add a what they see as value to unloved cars and make us get a collection of cars to unlock extra things and some form of achievements.

I can see this being a bit of a Marmite feature. Personally I don’t mind as long as it doesn’t get too much in the way of the main game.

I can see the appeal in GT Cafe. The issue is, I have no doubt in my mind that Polyphony will make the ultimate end goal lackluster, and it will be completion for the sake of it.

For what it's worth, FH5's Car Collection is decently fleshed out in terms of an idea, and at the very least has a hard cap for cars you need to collect and exclusive cars for completing certain marquees. It also helps that more are added after each season to flesh things out.

I don't know what GT could seriously do to make GT Cafe ultimately appealing to people who aren't going to be naturally completing it for 100%. Test cars ala' GT4? Kind of pointless with a livery editor able to pantomime these vehicles.

Kaz mentioned something similar in an interview. About acquiring a handful of cars, in past games and The other 400 just sit unused.

The issue is, that is basically part and parcel with the Car-PG experience Polyphony, and Forza as a matter of fact (Horizon certainly has it worse in this regard) and the only way you are going to get that to change is if you completely changed how the career mode is played, probably into something that is much more akin to a driver's journey like in PCARS 2 or even 3.

So how do you make those 400 cars get used, ultimately, when the very foundation of the game basically makes these cars fire and forget?

I've read that launch of Gran Turismo 7 will be postponed by a few months and will probably be available in stores in October. But This need's to be confirmed so we all have to wait for few more days untill final release date will be established. October is not final date, cause September also might be considered.
