The issue is, that is basically part and parcel with the Car-PG experience Polyphony, and Forza as a matter of fact (Horizon certainly has it worse in this regard) and the only way you are going to get that to change is if you completely changed how the career mode is played, probably into something that is much more akin to a driver's journey like in PCARS 2 or even 3.

So how do you make those 400 cars get used, ultimately, when the very foundation of the game basically makes these cars fire and forget?
I think the easiest way to get people to try more of the cars that are available is to a larger/more diverse campaign mode or event list. I personally think that GT4 was the best for this in the GT series (similarly, I think FM4 was best for it in the Forza series).

As an example, I really don't like the Nissan Micra, so after picking one up for the collect-'em-all completionism, I would never have touched it again if not for the March Brothers series of races specifically for cars using the Micra platform.

There are so many ways you could flesh out an event list this way, with championship restrictions based on, for example: manufacturer, model/platform, by nation, by decade, by engine size, by engine type, body style, rivalries (e.g. Ford vs Holden).

Why do they need to reply to a fake rumour?
It would take 2 seconds and would show that PD actually care about their fan base, their shareholders, their reputation..

Obviously you wouldn’t care enough to defend something that you’ve dedicated your career to?

Kaz said like two days ago that the game will release March 4th...
That video from the Taipei Gaming Show was pre-recorded from first week of January so things may have changed considering PD’s history with delays. Oh also like I said it would take 2 seconds of someone’s most precious time to do so.

They aren’t obviously marketing their product very well but they should at least protect it and do something for their most unhappy fan base.

I thank PD for not responding to every BS made up "news" story and tweet about their game. If they did that, that's all they'd be doing.

Also "A prominent member of the leaking community...."
What a time to be alive.

Yeah I get that they can’t defend everything ever said against their product, that’s impossible. But the game has suffered two huge delays already and is over a month out, considering the circumstances is it really unthinkable that they clarify something so significant and basic. It’s not as complicated as saying it’s for PS5 only and has dynamic weather on every track with ray-tracing to boot, now to say that and to take it back is complicated. But a release date is not a hard thing to clarify.

Lowering yourself to bat away the idiotic internet vultures trying to print a reputation off fabricating rumours around your company when you have a perfectly good product in hand about to come to market should be thoroughly, thoroughly below any company with faith in its product.

Running around busting every baseless rumour would look like plugging the leaks in the sinking ship. That they clearly don't care and feel no pressure to address these tweet-iots (new word, roll with it) should be confidence inspiring, not a source of anxiety.

Twitter just kind of doesn't matter, man.

Hello racers !
Of course, I red the latest pages of this thread, but you can imagine I didn't read the 300 pages !
So, soon we will be able to play GT7, that seems to be a GT Sport able to play at 120fps... with few tracks added.
I will not talk about the "single player" without internet connection here, because it's not my part, I always play online.
So, because it seems to be a better GT SPORT, I think I can like it, I like GT Sport vehicule physics, it is realistic enough for me, the trees apart... the livery editor... it's really a great game for online racing and I love it !
But ! You forget to talk about all the bugs of GT Sport, that are not still solved 4 years after its launch.
And when you play Online it's a problem, lets list the major bugs that are not still solved today.

About the lobbies :
- Everybody know the "pit bug", when you are in the pit, and when some drivers after pressing throttle, the cars become crazy and are crushing in the pit walls. Most of the time, after a host reset via a track condition/hour change, it solve the problem. But if it happens in a qualification mode, it's messed up !
But you can be forced to leave the lobby and come back if it continues after a track reset ! Bug never solved !

- The same situation appears with some launched starts, after the race start, some cars are becoming crazy, doing little rounds, and blocking every racers that are behind ! Bug never solved !

- The "cars that are locked on grid at start", when you stay locked and can do anything else than leave the race ! Bug never solved !

These 3 bugs are maybe in relation with the internet connections quality, that's what you will maybe say. But when 8 or 9 cars have the "pit bug" at the same time in a lobby, it's a more a problem of synchronization, and why it persists after a reset ?

There are things that are impossible to explain why they are still here in GT Sport :
- The way we have to erase penalties, with this forced transparency, with a good example RedBull Ring : if a racer behind you get a penalty in the very last lap, or in the very first one, he will be able in in 2nd turn, to brake lately, crossing you by transparency while he's erasing his penalty ! That's crazy !

Don't you ask yourself if these "bugs" and bad penalties "management" will be still here on GT7 ? Because it's a problem.

In time trial mode Online and Offline and with the attempts in qualification mode for daily races :
- There is a bug that kills my motivation : After I did few laps to get a good laptime, I leave the track to save my best one.
When I come back to load this laptime, there is a bug, it is never synchronized with the start I do each lap. I checked ghost settings but there is no way, it is really a bug. So, when there is a new world time trial, I have to do a new best laptime every session I do. Bug never solved !

Will it be the same in GT7 ? Mr Yamauchi is doing videos and interviews... but who asked him this question : Are these bugs solved in GT7 OR NOT ?
You maybe don't know I lost few months last year to do youtube videos with the bugs and report them on Kaz Yamauchi Twitter ! I made more then 35 videos with the bugs... and ask him everytime to solve these bugs. NEVER ANY ANSWER !

Some things are not logic and I never had any answer from Mr Yamauchi :
- Why when the racers are voting for example Dragon Trail Seaside, the result is always 10h00 ? There is no draw in the multiple hours/track conditions that are available ! Now, because of this, the players are so used to the "nice weather" track condition that they are unhappy when you set it to a less common used hour/track condition ! So, the most part of the time, we are racing everytime with the same hour/track condition per track ! It's a pity. Will it be the same on GT7 ?

- Can Mr Yamauchi explain us what is the relevance of a World Time Trial with a Tomahawk on the Nurb ? A "Real Driving Simulation" experience ?

- On a recent World Time Trial on a Tokyo track, there was a bug with the way the penalties for a wall contact were applied ! Every latime were faked, but nobody was able to correct it and it remained as it was ! And this problem appears very often these last 4 years !

It seems that the daily races are like the result of an AI draw of a lotery, nothing really serious ! Will it be the same with GT7 ?

...and I'm a gentleman, I didn't talk about the other things that are not logic, or missing... or about the way some players are using the game, like with the controversial use of the "reversed grid" parameter that became a fashion...

Can somebody ask Mr Yamauchi if everything I described will be solved with GT7 ?
Because if it is the same game as GT Sport with few graphic improvements and 4 or 5 more tracks and all the bugs or illogical features, why to choose it ? (Sorry for my poor English)
Hey hello Sylveris

The first 3 issues you refer to aren't bugs. They are all related to online client desyncs.

The others you mention with the exception of the dailies, like messed post-race laptime are due to people disconnecting before right after crossing the line or before. Then the game seems to have issues calculating the final times + STUPID penalties applied.

GT has always had very few issues with the exception of the ps3 era (that console was a nightmare for developers, even for insiders like PD with the right dev tools), which is one of the good things about taking your time before release, as it allows you to ironing things out.

If it would be the case they can’t make happen the date, the would have stopped bringing out this vid and wouldn’t have started the Asian marketing campaign. I think than they weren‘t part of this show. When they can stop a plannend marketing conference from one day to another, than they could do this of course, too. So, very unlikely.

Two huge delays? Its been delayed once.

I don't think PD need to clarify anything given everything they've put out recently states its releasing on 4th March. Responding to nobodies on the interenet should not be something they entertain.

I guess I find the silence unnerving. So many components and facts about this game have been falsified by PD. Silence to you gives you confidence. China have been silent on how many covid cases they’ve had the past two years and that doesn’t invoke any confidence of China in me.

I don’t think it’ll be delayed but I am just gob-smacked at PD’s silence in general - very unnerving.

No it’s twice as in GTS was actually GT7 but then they changed their production strategy to make GTS the foundation for GT7.

Like I just said before, I find PD’s silence in this rumour and in general unnerving.

Ermm, I think I was lost already, but you definitely lost me when you compared a game developer's PR strategy with the Chinese Communist Party's foreign policy...

Personally I prefer an assured campaign of "it's coming, it'll be on this date, we have shown you some gameplay, enjoy it when it comes" more than the modern/western approach of WE MUST HAVE A TWEET EVERY THREE HOURS WITH SCREENSHOTS OR EVERYONE WILL FORGET THE GAME IS COMING. It's old school, but it's refreshing - and quite typically Japanese/PD.

EDIT: also, heads up, double posting is not kosher on this forum. Use the edit feature.

Since the release date was announced on 9th September they've put out 15 videos and a web page that has a fair amount of information on it. I wouldn't call that "silence".

It seems like they haven't given you the information you want, but that does not equal "silence".

Mental gymnastics. GT7 has been delayed once. GTS is a different game.

I was making the point that silence does not always invoke confidence.

The majority of Sonys consumers aren’t Japanese as Westerners don’t understand that particular mindset

The videos they’ve shown haven’t shown anything new besides original tracks. Where’s the video about the new features?

“Wow Kaz! You can actually put liveries on your car now? No way! Wait a minute! You can collect cars in this game?! Wowsers!”.

Half the time the videos are just Kaz sitting on a barstool congratulating himself.

And no, not mental gymnastics.

That video from the Taipei Gaming Show was pre-recorded from first week of January
And even if it was recorded in 1863, if it was an outdated info it wouldn't have made the final cut of a clip released

Dude if you keep double posting you won't be around here to discuss this for very long. It's quite frustrating to be typing a reply and get the mid-paragraph ping that you have attached more to your baseless diatribe prior post that I then need to click out and check to make sure I'm not writing anything redundant... Etc, etc.

Ohhh you stroked out the words baseless diatribe .. wow how elitist of you..

My point was, and that you've proved, is that rather than the claimed "silence" PD just haven't told you what you want to know about the game. And that all started because PD haven't responded to an entirely baseless claim from a "prominent member of the leaking community" (I still can't believe the article actually said that).

Say what you like about the marketing campaign but saying there's been silence is clearly not true.

The problem isn't that PD isn't responding to these rumours. They indeed don't have to do anything if they're really just based on one guy's lies. The real problem is that their general silence when it comes to the game is fertile ground for rumours. The release is just over a month away and we only really know the basic features and most of the car list. We don't know if there are any real new features (except for the leaked "music rally") and we have no idea if we've already seen all the new tracks. That's going to lead to rumours and it will make people more likely to believe in them. See also: the Albert Park rumour.

I remember the good old days when you’d crack open your new monthly issue of PlayStation magazine and there would be a load of pictures of this new awesome game that was coming, then if you were lucky you’d get a demo (And sometimes it wasn’t even a playable demo!) of it either the next month or a couple months after and that was it, and they would always hold back some features from the articles! I don’t get this constant need for new information these days. I’m more than happy with the information we have got so far from PD!

I'm sure I still have some OPS2M demo discs! Simpler times...
