Was looking at the stats (source: https://gtsh-rank.com/daily/), and by qualification leaderboard numbers this might have been the least popular week of dailies ever.

C (Yas Marina/Gr.3) is at 33k entries, B (Maggiore Reverse/Gr.4) at 28k and A (Roadster 12R/Daytona) is all the way down at 12k. For contrast, last week's B (Fuji/Gr.3) had 77k entries, so it had more than all three of this week's combined.

If that is a result of people's aversion to the physics (and those are all standard combinations that don't normally do bad numbers without a reason), and the numbers stay that low, I think PD might hit the panic button and revert the physics.

I think they should just throw in a weekly or two with gr3/4 on sport tires, and see what people think. Im pretty sure many would be pleasantly surpriced. Current high grip across the board works nicely with sport and comfort tires. Just remember to turn up the FFB if you wish, as it is inherently lower with street tires in gt7.

That said - I actually didnt test Gr WITH BoP on sport/comfort tires. 🤔 Now I know what I test next..

Leaderboards were reset after the update

As always when I do the weekly challenge, I was hesitant when it came to rally racing.

But out of curiosity, I gave it a try behind the wheel (I usually play with a controller).

Well, I have to say I really enjoyed it—the car was more fun to drive.

That said, when it comes to asphalt, as Haitauer says, some tires have way too much grip.
I tested the Giulia with racing tires, and the grip was as insane as an F1 car’s.
So goodbye to its playful handling—make way for the LMP1.
Then again, maybe that’s realistic ?

In any case, I don’t know what PD will do with the new tire—whether they’ll stand by their choice or make a drastic reversal… In any case, if they do reverse course, I’ll quit the game for good since I get so much enjoyment out of driving it.

Just like what happened once Sophy Beta was removed.

But the problem is that players who use controllers and those who use steering wheels are caught in the middle.
It’s hard to satisfy both sides, I suppose—though controller players are having fun, so I don’t know what to think.

Worst-case scenario, PD, just make the game offline so I won’t update it, and I’ll stick with my real tires while everyone else drives on concrete ones.
An idea I've got is that they could add Super Soft tires that simulate that handling but the rest could be different. Just my 2c.

I think they should leave the physics and fix the BoP for gr3/4. Make them fast and see how the physics work themselves out before throwing the baby out with the bathwater

Because frankly, with a dd+ and a road car the game has never felt better. And i used to find road cars completely worthless in gt7. Now, they have been, in my limited testing, a wonderful visceral ride.

Which is what it should be

I’m jumping in and writing this without having read your comments yet. I played for about two hours with the controller. The wheel is disconnected for now.

What did I notice? The first two things are:

-Controller sensitivity has completely changed!! What settings are you guys using now?
-The braking seems to have completely changed as well. It finally feels really enjoyable with ABS off in cars that don’t have ABS. Is that perception correct? The difference feels quite noticeable to me.

I think the brakes and accelerator changes and the dynamic grip are whats really making this fun. It feels as if i can out someone who enjoys back road driving in my rig // VR and say, just drive.

Same as post above. Jumped in and noticed a better feel for my driving style. You don't need to worry about seeing me on any leaderboard so for just my enjoyment of the game; it hit about just right for me.

It's also that the dailies are hot garbage. The Track Limits at Yas are junk. Maggiore reverse is not nearly as popular as the proper direction and the Mazda Roadster at Daytona is super niche in terms of who enjoys that specific type of racing.

I don't think it's a hatred of the physics I think it's more how late in the week the update came and how undesired these dailies really are.

That said WHY DID PD CHANGE ANYTHING?!

I said this in another thread but I can't see a reason why they would have done anything. Obviously this is all anecdotal but I haven't seen major complaints from players (pro or otherwise) about the physics. I haven't seen massive updates to the cars/weird tracks that would require revisiting that area of the code base. To me it makes exactly as much sense as when Microsoft continually updates the UI for Word and Excel.

I don't need a new ribbon I need things to work exactly as they have for the last 10 years. Don't change things just to change things. Change when required sure or when new ideas happen but ffs I have yet to see anyone provide a reasonable explanation as to why PD felt the need to do this.

Just did a lot more testing. Controller player, assists off. Still enjoying it a lot.

I've just reduced my steering sensitivity and this made a difference, even for dirt racing.

On asphalt it feels very good. Like I've said before I can finally use the grip on the cars at the limit. It's not just on-off anymore or with very small nuances. Now you can feel where the grip is. You can notice better a grippier car is different from a bad one.

But I'm more of a street car driver. For me, the update feels amazing. Like a whole new layer of physics was hidden. (Slip angle). Will test the racing cars too.

Also, drifting is damn good. Much improved.

Finally got to play GT7 after updating yesterday. I didn't get around to using all the cars just the Chaser. I drove it stock around Laguna Seca and it enjoyable. 8 did the engine swap for the Chaser and it was so quick but easy to drive. I need to test the rest of them out and will do so when I get some time

I finally sat down and spent 4 hours with the new physics update, along with fine tuning the pitch travel in my rig and I am absolutely blown away at the physics change. I think it's the single best update PD has ever done (mostly because GT4 didn't have any updates  ). Anyway, the tires are behaving as they should and do in real life. No more grip cliff, it feels analog and on a curve, finally.

As a result, I can make my two NSX road cars more aggressive in their setups, making things faster and more fun (~595PP). I had probably the best lap in a decade today (I don't have a lot of time to play anymore), it was amazing to finally be able to put a lap together exactly how I wanted it. It didn't take long to adjust either once the tune was dialed in for these two cars. Car control is fun and possible again.

I still have to finish out the power pack, but I think I'll make some tunes for the Historic and Nurburgring ones I have left.

That is very logical. I tried the new physics and it is more like an arcade game now, unlimited grip. I can drive like there is no skill needed. So it is logical that for casual players it is better as it is easier. For competitive guys ot is bad because of the same reason - no skill needed, you can pick up a pad and be quick right away

So, if someone doesn't like the competitive side is casual??🤔

I actually think the BoP changes have been very welcome. Felt like before some cars had BoP which was too high and some too low. For example, the McLaren F1 has been lowered to around 611 which is, IMO, more realistic for an early 90s car.
Same with the F40.

Most annoying part of a physics update is how I have to go select each car in my garage individually to see the PP change, unless I am missing an easier way?
As far as I know, it's the only way. Granted I haven't exactly looked for it, but I've been through the garage options for other reasons and haven't seen it.

I did not mean to put players in buckets and my choice of words might not have been perfect. I call myself casual compared to world tour drivers and top splot drivers. I do not practice racing for 6-8 hr per day

I drove the BMW Hypercar around Watkins Glen last night and it handled very consistently through each corner. It's what I imagine the car to be like straight out of the box - a neutral setup that doesn't have too much understeer or oversteer. Most people would be able to handle the car without crashing because it doesn't behave irratically like in some other games. You know what it's doing, and you can feel the weight shift through the tyres as you steer around the long, fast corners. It's not frightening at all. However I just know that some oversteer can be tuned into the car to make it faster. Won't experiment with it though because I'm not aiming for lap records!

I finally had some time to try the update and I have to say I really like the new cars (apart from the Hyundai at least).

The Chaser is awesome of course and I was pleasantly surprised by the Mark II‘s handling. But my favorite car is by far the Caterham. It‘s an absolute blast to drive and I haven‘t had this much fun with a road car in GT7 in a long time!

Hey guys, since the new update my ghost setting (0.3s ahead, resets every sector) has gone inconsistent — sometimes it’s ahead like normal, but often after a sector reset it’s behind me in the rearview instead, right in my line of sight. Anyone else seeing this since the update?

So far, my thoughts on the new physics so far is that even while I'm on a controller, the weight of the cars feel more pronounced on road cars depending on your steering inputs. I'm yet to try everything else though, but I'm hearing Gr. 3's and the Hypercars in Gr. 1 are slower?

And to think I did Nurburgring laps with all five Hypercars (BMW M Hybrid V8, Ferrari 499P, Peugeot 9X8, Porsche 963 and Toyota GR010 Hybrid) on old physics...

Hypercars are slower at Le Mans due to their even more absurd levels of downforce; that said, this could work to their advantage on a circuit like the Nürburgring... Moreover, driving them no longer requires even the slightest level of skill.

Bear with me on this, how has the downforce changed in the tunes?I dont really know in depth tuning, can we not just use previous settings,I dont generally mess with downforce settings so use very little downforce in the front to keep the PP low.Am I right to assume that the lowest setting,i.e 10,is now lower than 10?Forgive the daft query.😊

Tried the new 1.71 update on a controller with the gyro steering (how I always play GT7) and I like it! 👍

That was my first impression from the first 3 weekly challenge races to snag that 100+200K credits.

I am pleasantly surprised. Ran all 5 weeklies, and I felt everything was a bit more driveable. I'm using a full G-Pro setup, wheel plus pedals, and I feel like this update settled some things down a bit. I noticed my 599PP C8 dropped down to 581PP, so I gained some tuning room on it. The Caterham is stupid fun.

Controller user here, and while it's nice that they made most cars easier to drive, I think they could back this physics change, down a little bit. The brakes are too good, I found myself braking way to early, at first, until I got use to it. I think grip is a bit to high as well.

If they adjusted it to some where between this update, and before, it would be solid.

Also, rally is undriveable. I really enjoy rally, until now. Couldn't even finish the Colorado race.

I don't think there is a right answer for this as there's too many things that can or have been changed or are different between car(s).

Even if a car has the same aero, numerically, it might be affected because the min and max settings for aero have changed. For example, if there was a car with front aero vales from 50-150, and you had the aero value at 100, this would be half (50%) of your available adjustment.

But, if update V1.71 has changed the min / max values to 50-200, your '100' is no longer half of what is available, that would now be '125'.

This would affect your setup and how the car feels, except PD has really gone to town with screwing with people's setups as they have changed spring and damper values / ranges too. These are some of the values / variables that can be related to aero and subsequently how a car feels.

So even if you do return your car to the same aero levels of pre V1.71, unfortunately, there's no guarantee this will 'fix' the / any issue. The impact of this is also going to very according to what type of setup you had on the car, setups that had stiff springs will probably be less affected as these changes cater more for that type of setup, so you're less likely to feel a big difference.

This is made even more complicated as the aero changes across all car(s) affected are not the same, either numerically or statistically i.e. %. Aero updates are not +50 or -50 and neither + or - 50%.

That's just the setup, PP points / calculation also looks like it might be different, especially the WTC800 'grind builds' where having min / max aero setup was good for the PP rating.

Keep your eye on tuning section, I'll be posting something later.

In the meantime, I'm still going with this
Don't panic, save your old setup and try and be patient 👍

EDIT: without knowing what car and spec you're talking about it's hard to be specific with a right answer to or for the situation, if you post details or even screenshot of settings then that would make it easier to be a bit more specific

Really? Have you driven the Caterham? That is a slidey beast. Entertaining though.

If you mean unlimited grip in that we can actually catch and control (many) slides now, rather than just spin out into the barrier then you may be right. What I notice is that there is much more power understeer to lift off oversteer transition in the cars I've tried so far which is not many.

Well PD have massively messed up GT7.

I've driven road and race cars round Brands Hatch and Silverstone, have competed in karting for a few years (raced against ex F1 and Le Mans drivers) and have driven rally cars on rally stages (as an experience, rather than competitively) = I have some idea what good feels like.

The new update has brought massive understeer on entry, near impossible to get power overseer, even if you clip the grass. Steering weirdly heavy but also lacking in any feel.

No fun to drive at all and just a bit....odd.

They've ruined it and need to rollback the update quickly.

I've played Gran Turismo from the very start, but am now seriously looking for alternatives.

Any recommendations gratefully received!
