I fired up Forza Horizon 5 last night, and using a pad the new GT physics feel more like FH5's imo.
mental issues, like not joking, many gamedevs are stupid/have mental blocks. in their head they have some idealized picture which they strife for (but in reality will be never reached) i mean to make it work perfect out of the box and please everyone =)I can not understand why PDI cant let us choose our own preferenced deadzone - only way to make everybody happy.
That makes sense with the steering,a lot of other racing games let you tinker with steering deadzones to get it how you like it.I think what they did is a double-edges sword. They removed deadzone from the middle of the steering, so the forces start swaying the steering from left to right. This is very clearly felt in steering wheel FFB, and I like it. No dead zone means you have constant uninterrupted control on the front wheels, but as I said, its double-edged - no dampening/deadzone means oscillation when trying to go straight. This is a lot worse in some cars than others, and I can imagine its sub-optimal for gamepad users if the setting is the same. I can not understand why PDI cant let us choose our own preferenced deadzone - only way to make everybody happy.
Its a classic case of PDI patronizing players. Steering settings, on-screen gauges, view distance and fov.. the list goes on. Has been for years. Is this a cultural thing?
Thanks for sharing. I haven't been playing for long time and haven't tested new physics update at all. What cross my mind when I read your comment about "twitchy in the corner" only thing that crosses my mind to check is in data logger it is actually possible to check steering angle now as well (it wasn't when they just released it) anyhow, long time ago, when I checked it, my graph could look like a teeth on a saw. Something I was complaining about since GT7 got released, but ps support told me they will send my comments to PD and nothing happened after that. Anyhow... You can check data logger steering graph and see how it looks like now, smooth curve or saw teeth? that will at least tell you if it is gyro motion function bug or it's physics now?Yeah, I did the Espace F1 Circuit experience to see what it was like, and the ghost kept disappearing behind me on the 1 lap attack, each sector change put it even further behind.
Also I have been back on motion steering again on DS4 and it is ruined 😔
I have a major deadzone when holding the controller straight and then entering a turn, the red dot doesn't move until I've moved the controller at least 5 degrees.
I also have had to set all 3 settings (controller sensitivity, ffb torque, ffb sensitivity) to 10 just to get any sort of feel of turning.
Once I'm in a corner it then becomes very twitchy and over sensitive.
I get horrendous understeer but also I don't get the effect wheel users are having in Gr3 cars of steering more to gain traction, I just go further and further off.
I have tried a few different types of cars, tracks and tires, and nothing seems at all consistent on motion steering anymore.
Think I'm going to be sitting out for a while until there is another change 😔
@Barareklam thought I'd tag you so you see my thoughts on it.
Can't agree at all.I fired up Forza Horizon 5 last night, and using a pad the new GT physics feel more like FH5's imo.
Its insane. I just read a tweet of an actual SuperGT driver who has also playing GT7 a lot. He thinks the psychics are amazing and close to the real deal.I've found there's a fundamental lack of understanding in this community, about cars, and it's sad tbh. No idea why such an improvement is being seen as backwards. It reminds me of the football game community.
To be honest im not sure what youre expecting. Do you think the limitations of gt7s physics can be blamed on ps4? You'd be wrong about that. There are sims on pc like lfs and netkar pro with much much better physics than gt7 or a lot of modern Sims as well that will run on 20 yr old laptops. These free updates are great and all, but I'd like to see what PD can do on PS5 when they're not tied to making the game run on a 13 year old laptop hardware... we've been playing GT7 for more than 4 years and we haven't heard a single word about GT8.
For reference, GT4 had already been out for 4 years when everyone was going crazy why GT5 is taking forever and we only got GT5 Prologue. But at least we got something back then...
BigFax.Its insane. I just read a tweet of an actual SuperGT driver who has also playing GT7 a lot. He thinks the psychics are amazing and close to the real deal.

Actually, a lot of content creators with actual on track experience seem to be quite happy with the update. That tells a lot.
Is the positive change in the room with us right now? Because it's my experience that it isn't. Sure I'm super glad supergt is having a great time. I can't possibly care about steve, his experience, or whether or not he's having a good time.BigFax.
If you see WHO says it's better, it's people that are out there on the track with their cars and on the rig with the game. It's No controller player used to do the same thing with every car so it becomes a game mechanic.
I wish people would be more understanding and appreciating of positive change, not thinking about how it relates to them, but more about the direction of the change and the product.
Gt became a bit more realistic, isn't this good?
🤩
My point 👉Is the positive change in the room with us right now? Because it's my experience that it isn't. Sure I'm super glad supergt is having a great time. I can't possibly care about steve, his experience, or whether or not he's having a good time.
I don't care about "the direction of the change and the product" I care about my experience. I care about my experience because it's literally the only thing that is valid to care about.
I would love to watch some of those. Can you point me in the right direction? ThanksIts insane. I just read a tweet of an actual SuperGT driver who has also playing GT7 a lot. He thinks the psychics are amazing and close to the real deal.

There's Dirk, GT3 Porsche driver. His videos are pretty good. Just throw it on YouTube.I would love to watch some of those. Can you point me in the right direction? Thanks
Don't forget that GT7 is a game and that it has to be sold. If the rush for realism leaves only drivers and professionals as its audience, you will only be able to enjoy this experience once.BigFax.

I found Dirk but I can't see any of his videos referencing gt7.There's Dirk, GT3 Porsche driver. His videos are pretty good. Just throw it on YouTube.
It was a Super GT (racing series) driver who wrote that tweet, not Super GT (the Youtuber). Is the positive change in the room with us right now? Because it's my experience that it isn't. Oh I thought it was about real world racing, sorry. His channel is for irl racing only. MisunderstoodI found Dirk but I can't see any of his videos referencing gt7.

I haven't heard mass complaints. I haven't seen "pros" saying "wow this is bad" so why keep iterating when it was working fine?
That could just be PD making the boundaries for gold easier rather than the physicsBefore the update, I spent a week on each event to get gold; my hands were shaking from excitement, and when I achieved gold, I felt a sense of moral satisfaction. After the update, I got gold in both tasks on my fifth attempt and forgot about it — NO pleasure at all. How can anyone like physics 1.71???
I’ve been reading gtplanet for a few years now, and version 1.71 made me break my silence.
I welcome that but it's probably just me and a minority. I suck at time trials, licenses and Circuit Experiences so if it got easier then I'll definitely get into Golding some moreThat could just be PD making the boundaries for gold easier rather than the physics
Or you've actually improved enough to earn gold with less attempts
I took gold in these tasks quite recently. You can't fool muscle memory. it really got a lot easier. but thank you for believing in me)That could just be PD making the boundaries for gold easier rather than the physics

They just need to give up with Gr.1 and Gr.2 in general, they don't make any sense considering how different the cars are. LMDh/Hypercar should really be in Gr.2 given they're around that pace but then they throw extra downforce on them for whatever reason. The TS020 has extra downforce and power to make it more competitive but then they nerf the F1 GTR back to being nearly Gr.3. They also had to completely nuke the LMP1 hybrids and make those unrealistic to make them fit the category. They either need a new class structure or sub classes, or they need to add more stuff to the online BoP where it gets specific downforce levels or hybrid settings to make it work. I never race online so I'd rather have the cars as they're supposed to be.At this point PD should just give up on shoehorning the F1 GTR Longtail in Gr.2, and just shove it in Gr.3 instead. Its downforce levels are comparable to a GT3 like the 296 or Merc AMG.
Personally I think the moves are in the right direction and especially enjoy the road cars and changes in street tire feel. Some refinement is needed sureBefore the update, I spent a week on each event to get gold; my hands were shaking from excitement, and when I achieved gold, I felt a sense of moral satisfaction. It’s not just about the time; the point is that these cars have become much easier to drive. I wasn’t afraid to press the accelerator at all — sorry for the comparison, but it’s almost like in NFS.Personally I think the moves are in the right direction and especially enjoy the road cars and changes in street tire feel. Just because its now too easy to meet an arbitrary time is not the reason to revert just for the satisfaction of beating it. Its about how the cars perform and feel. If its too easy to gold then change the times
