The only racing free roam environment that was legit to me was GTA 4.
Every other title I've tried had some sort of Flintstone (Cartoon) effect where you feel stationery and its the background thats moving, or where everything is essentialy copied and pasted.

I would love having the opportunity to have different garage. Like the hangar with all the supercars line up in the demo. Or an helmets and suits room, a trophy room ...
I think it would be great for a start don't you think?

I'd rather they spend their time on modeling cars and tracks.
Free roam is something I can do outside.

Sounds like a cross between Playstation home and gtaIV (without the violence). Great concept but it would be ruined with online idiots ramming into each other ect, also the chat features would not work with the over strict filter system pd implement, every conversation would end up looking like this ********

Well if I had the Money to take several 100.000$+ Cars out for a spin every other day, I´d agree

Thats gonna be a real problem. But if there was a real good AI in offline traffic I couldn´t care less about those "idiots"

Well you could have responsible people who are willing to be bobbies... I wouldn't mind being a bobby on a free roam like this. Spending some time watching out for idiots to improve the experience for all...

With bobby you mean cop, right?

Yes there are people like that, I don´t like them IRL nor in forums but they do exist. Thing is I believe they are a vast minority and not easy to find.

They could do it with an enforcer rank for those people, the higher the rank the more serious a enforcer he/she is, so when you enter a lobby you´ll know if there is a serious person playing cop or not

Yeah, police... It wouldn't be hard really. Either you could patrol in a "police vehicle" or you could just free roam like everyone else, but have the power to kick people out or warn people. But it'd be hard to get unbiased people...

IMHO there is no such thing as an unbiased cop!

No but seriously, what do you think about about my idea with the rankings?
Let´s say you have an enforcer in your lobby, and you think he´s doing a good job, you are able to rate him/her. >So if you find one thats rated very high, you know you have a "good cop" in your room. lol (if there is such thing as a good cop) ;)

Police have to be as unbiased as possible, it's not easy though. But yeah, that sounds pretty good!

You sound like you know something about the job ;) ha ha sorry if I accidently insulted your occupation m8. My personal experience has just never been really positive, thats why its giving me a hard time to believe the un/biased issue here. :)

Haha, no offence taken. I'm not a copper, but my dad was. But policing anything is hard...

but yeah, I think if this does get implemented, you will need cops around, just to make sure that everyone who wants to use this properly gets the best of it.

I agree, I posted before that I´m afraid Forza Horizon will be unenjoyable in online-mode with the lack of something to stop rude behaviour beeing one of the reasons for it.

yeah, could very well be the case...

This is good. Kind of like having GranTurismo HOME. A social freeroam driving experience could open up oppurtunities to get acquainted with players you wouldn't normally meet under good circumstances, in a race lobby due to the possibility of there being undisciplined racing styles going on in there.

While I like the idea of a free roam with the graphics of GT5... I would feel realistic physics would ruin the experience somewhat... Hear me out.

Unless youre doing sensible driving the realistic physics on crowded, bumpy and narrow roads would just result in so many crashes. I mean 99% of the time someone is driving like a hoon they become unstuck... thats why I think for open world street racing a more arcadey feel would work best... because that way you can recreate the close shaves and frankly death defying moves that the street racing game is all about.

I read a reviewer saying how one of the funnest things about FM horizon was smashing head on into on coming traffic... I personally dont see the fun in that, and I feel the GT crowd are a classier bunch than to go slack jawed at crashing.

Check out our idea for "enforcers" then; the players that make sure the online experience stays somewhat enjoyable, of course as with pretty much everything else in existence there is still the possibility for failure.

This is why In free roam mode when you are hosting it should only be your friends allowed. Just as when I do one lane racing on my created tracks online. I don't have to worry about bull crap because all my buddies are mature. People who are not in my group are not allowed in. With the ability to set this up with the Help of GTP, and many people loving the Ideal of free roam I don't see a problem with gathering good people to drive with. 👍

i think its a great idea but only if they have real roads like mountain drift and go get something to eat with your friends but no NFS stuff like forza keep all i said with GT physics and it will be great and also alot of people like to crusie with ther g25 g27 or DFGT or any other wheel so put traffic lights and penalize them if they go over 150 or something

I never stated in the OP that there would be traffic; the island is ours; the Gran Turismo drivers, the laws are our ours. Did you read the OP?

When I first thought of this when Kaz mentioned it, I imagined city driving. No city driving would be a huge letdown.

City driving, countryside driving, hillside driving, dirt trail drving, runway driving and many other areas of driving were what my original idea encompassed. ;)

I'll laugh to see how much hate the game will get for all of that being done. I can see players doing at that very moment.

Anywho, I adore GT Free Roam. I still got many ideas to share. :)

Maybe they can do what Turn 10 and playground are doing. I think the best in house studio to work with would have to be evolution studios.

It'd be a great idea, but I can't see Sony or PD moderators getting involved. Any policing would have to be done by the community, as with the GCA we have now (but better, because free roam).

Oh, and it really would need larger maximum lobby sizes for any map bigger than GTA III or Vice City. Hence, it probably wouldn't work too well with this generation of consoles.

Unfortunately, someone doesn´t like the many ideas we have unless they are stick to the OP. So I´ll keep my ideas for myself now or will post them in another thread, if I find one.

I agree it will need some serious control settings to stop it being ruined

I would love GT5 physics with the rules in place, but I do think that if you wanted to do need for speed style street racing like Horzions seems to be going towards it would just result in endless crashes because you cant barrel around with total disregard for the laws of physics and expect to fit through tiny gaps then take a bumpy main road corner at 80mph. So yes I think it will have to be a place GT players go to unwind than live out the fast and the furious fantasies

GT doesn't really have a choice now that Forza is going to release a free roam like game under the name "Forza Horizon" in my opinion the free roam game that GT should make should be similar to what "Forza Horizon" is trying to do but maybe with city's here and there for different scenery's and environments.

If we were to get the runway, motorways, and other high speed environments then the high-speed fantasy is viable with realistic physics.

@Flaco13 I agreed with your statement and reminded you that we have a solution to problems with nuisances online. You made a statement and I put forward the existing solution for it. ;)

Like NFS Hot Pursuit 2010 and Burnout Paradise with its city. :) What GT needs is Forest, Coast, Mountain, and Deserts. And than there is City to add to that. But the mountain area should have a grass area with some snow near the mountains.
