I promise this isn't a lie, I was dreaming in my sleep about the update trailer/showcase, and in it was an M5 of this same generation. However, the headlights were different, but I put this down to a lighting thing (in my dream). The GT website article even said it was the same model Clarkson drove (E60). I also feel like the scape with the M5 was sunny/dusk, but that might be me imposing the Autumn Ring stuff onto it.

I think the reason I thought about the M5 was that I'd seem people talk about it on here before. The other cars in the update were not the same as Spec 4. I can't remember them now, though. But just funny timing lol.

Am I the only one that would rather have the E39 M5 over the boaty E60?
No. I really do not like this BMW:-) My fav is the one I had:-)

Theorycrafting a little bit here: We have the new "Experience" mode, which looks like it is basically more license tests but scoped to a specific manufacturer.

I wonder if that's tied into the concierge in any way? Like, maybe you have to beat the Mercedes experience to unlock being able to get Mercedes cars through the concierge.
Or maybe like the GT4/5 Manufacturer races?

Holy moly I just chimed in on youtube and saw this thumbnail and thought it was a fake lol. But thank the GT overlords, its very real nd ahappening!!! We finally have AUTUuuuuuuuuMn Ring back making a strong return, Hell yeah!!!! And I cant believe the added Sportsland Sugo back, thank you @Jordan for a great round up article on the new features of Spec 4. They all look awesome like the shuffle mode, car showcase and the awesome new modes to arrive.

I cant wait to now recreate all those legendary best motoring battle videos races at Sugo on a rainy japanese day. Bring on October!!LFG!!!

Thanks. I'll be binging those videos for weeks now!

We just need classic Fuji and the old Test Course back and I think we have the lot...

Tskuba - tick
Suzuka - tick
Sugo - tick
Fuji - Half a tick
Test Course - Quarter of a tick (Daytona and the huge oval)

...does the way it's phrased mean there's no Autumn Ring Mini :( ?
That's what it sounded like to me. Which surprises me, I bet it's more memorable to most people than the full version. But I guess it doesn't fit with the current car list....

Shuffle races sound awesome but as a franchise noob who has only ever played GT7, I have some questions about how it might work:

It sounds like a casual multiplayer mode like lobbies, and not something tied to Sport mode or based on DR/SR, is that right?

Do you think it will be possible to join shuffle races with friends or do you expect it to be random matchmaking only?

I assume the car selected will be a stock version of the car, it will not select cars from your garage or anything like this? So presumably there will not be a way to race with any of your own custom liveries?

How are the race settings determined? Is it a weekly rotation like Sport mode or does the track, number of laps, etc. shuffle with each race as well?

Really clutching for straws here but I noticed there was an Ascari poster in the background? Maybe that could mean some kind of return for them?

I don't know if Ascari will return, but I do have a fun fact about that: it's the plaque that was given to Kazunori at the GT6 launch party in Ronda, when he was gifted honorary membership to Ascari Race Resort. I saw it sitting on that shelf in his office in Polyphony Digital's Tokyo studio, which is where they filmed his segment.

I took this photo at the time:

Thinking about the "Vintage" section of the October portion of the update. Since that feature could be used for players to wish-list/'pre-order' any of the Legends cars through the "Car Concierge" feature, that presentation reminds me a bit of GT4's Classics section in a brand's dealership. Except with the Classic section, there are some cars that can be bought new.

Still, I wish that section could also be applied to the VGT cars, like how they did it back with GT Sport just for the sake of making things look organized. Then again, the parallels with GT4 extends with the "Experience" mode. It's so close to being the One-make races of the older game.

It's a setting for lobbies in GT5, I imagine it will be the same here as they only showed it off in the lobbies.
Host chooses "Shuffle Racing" as the lobby type, then can change the target PP range, the variance in car PP, and everything else works as a normal lobby does.
It gives the player a random car in the range in a random colour, it doesn't pull from your garage at all.

Going from my failing memory, it was specific to lobbies (sport mode wasn't around then). It was just a specific set of stock cars.

The E39 is my favourite of the 5-Series models. But if the E60's inclusion allows an option to swap it's V10 engine into other vehicles, then that will tip it in the E60's favour. The extra bonus being it will not blow up like in real life.

That's how it worked on GT5 but I would quite like it if they tweaked it to work similar to the cycled production lobbies on Forza 4 where it would give you your own car from your garage if you owned it so you could race your own liveries (but with the performance set to the same as stock).

Not excited somehow. Tracks I do not know. Cars do not like, especially another xiaomi. This BMW is my worst of BMWs, do not like this model
Tracks you do not know yet 😀Give them a chance when they're added and I think you will enjoy them, Sugo especially is a really nice layout, very technical at the start of the lap but then it opens up to race like a traditional fast flowing circuit, I've only ever driven it on PCARS but it's a nice layout

For those interested, here is a great video made by Roflwaffle last year about racing stories at Sugo :

Here I might be the only one complaining about this, but the first images we have give the impression of a track that is far too clean compared to reality.

Great news! I'm really liking the positive comments. I'm looking forward to the new content. One thing I haven't seen anyone mention is the possibility for 4 more stealth cars in October & December. I know a lot of folks don't care for them, but I really like them.

Do you think it will be 1 track in October and 1 in December, or will they both release at the same point? If so, this may be a bit extreme but maybe we're getting 4 new tracks total?

Also seeing as we saw 7 cars in the trailer that means we likely have another 5 to expect in December. Any ideas, people? (cough cough M4 GT3)

From what I understood, I think one in October and one in December.

Fair enough! One needs to be careful with words:-) To be clear right away - I always thought GT7 is insane value for money. I am VERY grateful PD is keeping the game alive and relevant. I truly enjoy it.

I was super excited to see the Hypercars added, GR3 new generation of cars and also 2 tracks that are on the Formula 1 calendar.

Pretty sure I will enjoy these tracks. I just wanted to say I have less excitement about those vs Silverstone, Portimao, Monaco, etc. But I am grateful they have added 2 new tracks.

Also, I would welcome more of up to date GR3 cars and Gt500…less the minivan or a smartphone on wheels:-)

But! It is still an update;-)

Well aren't you a bundle of joy? You have no sense anticipation for two new tracks? For free, in a already 4 and a half year old game?! You just want the same recycled stuff? When you must already know, one is returning favourite, so their must be something good about it and the other you passed judgement on without giving a fair crack and only brings gamers closer to a full Super GT calender. The BMW is another returning GT legend, which beyond it's mechanical issues , which aren't even simulated in this game for you to make any complaints about it's inclusion there, is a very capable and much lauded machine.

Maybe a pack containing the test ring, test ring reverse and 12 Skylines would be more up your street?!

Sheesh! The level of negativity and ungratefulness! And at such an early stage even.

I think You are definitely overdoing it, mate. I am grateful and always was. Check my earlier comments before you are going to pass your judgement. And also I was not criticizing it, never said it is bad as I am sure that for someone it is good. I merely said that I am not excited about this specific update and what is wrong with that? You might not like something but it doesnt make you negative or not grateful.
