My thoughts on the update

Cars

First i got Toyota Levin for a try. Nothing special same specs as the regular ae86.
I don’t understand why the did add this. Another gen gto would be better.

2nd car Nissan Silvia. This was great car to be honest. The tuning levels are great was able to hit n400 pretty impressive.

3rd Honda s2000 very good trackcar but it was not the best part of the car, becouse the way it sounds is incredible. The tuning was lacking but what we know about gt sport that is not to supricing, but being less Powerful than s13 is a bit strange.

4th car Subaru impreza. I don’t see this as duplicate its to me a lot different to 22b. Levin as far i am concern is more of duplicate. Goes to n500 at max level not to bad Considering gt sports lack of tuning.

And to final and most intresting cars to me to finally have a premium form. Finally we have our first gto even the 96 model being My favorite i an glad wee finally got one. Its heavy but i just thought we can upgrade this car so high so it would make up for it, but no they don’t let us bring it over n600. How is that fear when skyline models have n800 and above. I really hope the add the later gens soon. And hopefully they don’t get nerfed this badly. And this is one of the reason why i hate this broken upgrade system.

But as far as the cars go its pretty good overall. Its a good sign they added this. Seems more and more cars that would fit in gt7.

[/SPOILER]

Rofl the trailer says that the game had 1000+ cars but didn't indicate that more than a quarter of them are standard cars that were mostly carried over from the previous generation titles.

I hope GT7 will be a lot better than that but nevertheless, GT5 is still a good game.

Had a nice and clean five-laps battle during one of my first lobby races on the rainy Red Bull Ring.
It´s hard to adjust your brain to the slippery conditions but thit causes good racing action because of the small mistakes most players make.
Never thought rain races would be so clean from the beginning ( apart from that small chaos in lap one ).

Now all we need to complete the Silvia lineup are the Zenki and Kouki S14s, and the S15 Spec-R

Just relaised the Viper Gr.4 only has one wiper - on the driver's side.

I've only driven the 3000gt and the WRX coupe and they're cousins being turbo JDM 4wd cars.

HOWEVER... the standout for me this time is the s2000... I took it up against the professional GT4 class and even though its about a ton and with about 370hp untuned its wasnt as hard as I expected.

I think the GT4s have about up to 440hp however the s2000 has such a nice chassis even untuned and its so economical so you rest easy when you refuel.

I dont even like Hondas except the old NSX but this thing... its the best representation of the s2000 in any game... and the sound when VTEC kicks in... y0?

Car modeling and that extreme fidelity makes GT Sport stand above everyone else this gen.

I tried out one of the events in the beginner class. I ran a samba bus around.

The thing that amazed me was that the low power bug used comfort tires instead of rain tires! Huh????

Yes, these tires are ready for rain. We don't have to make a pit stop to change our tires when it starts to rain in real life. ;)
But in the previous games before that had rain in them, standard tires used to perform questionably because lap times, braking distances and handlings of cars are severely affected negatively when the track is 100% wet. If rain tires are equipped, then at least they would offset those factors.

and it is just as scary as today there are people who do not understand why gts cannot have a dynamic time.
I will say it for the umpteenth time, if you want to keep that visual fidelity at 60 fps, practically fixed, with a dynamic time you have to go down to big compromises. just look at gt5 / 6, pc2 and also fm7 to understand where the problem lies.
You could create an 60FPS dynamic time and rain racing game on PS4. The game would look far worse than GTS or any other racing game this gen, but with enough headroom to accommodate for rain and intense situation this is doable. Obviously Ray tracing for example wouldn't be possible.

It's already exists. It's called Project Cars 2.

Sure its not as smooth 60 FPS as GTSport and in max settings it actually runs like Gran Turismo 6, but still.

Sure, however i meant rock solid 60FPS. This is all about the devs approach and targets.

810 standard cars of 1031 total GT5 launch cars are well over a quarter. In fact they are more than 3 quarters.

Yup, 810 cars and almost all of them actually sound so awful in-game. But I still loved playing it, regardless. :D

I believe we have new avatars in this update

If you've gotten gold on the GT League Gr.2 event race @ RBR Wet, what settings did you use? I've come six seconds behind the leader. I'm using an ABS setting of 2 which seems to help me more than having it at level 1, and I'm using a Brake Balance where it's three levels to the rear. Even when the downforce for the front & rear are each set to nearly being maximum, (around 75% of the way towards the right on the scale) I still can't get gold. My average lap time is about 1:35.

Look, I enjoy a challenge and that's one thing, but this is getting genuinely frustrating. I think someone earlier ITT said that the rain races are a good example of the AI being a bit wonky. Did they mean that as in the AI is too slow, or did they mean it more in-line with my experience, where it's way too fast for the weather at hand?

The biggest part of winning that event is just staying cool and being consistent. I got it on my third go yesterday, with a spin on lap 4. The previous two tries I spun a couple of times and finished second in both. I just used a dead stock Nissan with ABS (no other aids), on whatever tyres I was given.

Yeah but how are you getting an average laptime of around 1:33.5? I can only muster around 1:35. Sorry that we can’t all be aliens. Maybe I’ll just give up and cut every corner while ramming everyone off-course in frustration. Maybe now you’ll see why most GTS players don’t even touch Sport Mode. I have other media I want to consume and other goals that I have for my life than being one of the best GT players.

I hate it when I’m not having fun! When it’s this hard, I feel like I’m wasting my time, and for nothing at that!! I could be working to have my first gf!

Just by driving smoothly, applying the throttle slowly and picking the right spots to overtake... and I'm far from alien pace

I’m using ABS at 2. I can’t use it at 1 because I keep slipping. Idk what you’re doing that I’m not because it sounds very similar.

You know what? I’ve been playing this series since GT3. But maybe I’ve been in denial all these years that it just may not be for me. I feel like it just keeps managing to piss me off in one way or another. I’m not asking for this game to blow me, but games are meant to be entertaining and fun, so maybe I need to move onto a different game. And maybe it’s time for me to hang up the driver’s gloves when it comes to GT. I don’t really know what I want, really.

Do you mean Traction Control? If that's the case it probably isn't hurting you that much so I'd say it's down to me carrying more corner speed onto the straights. That's where most of the easy-to-gain time is.

Yeah, I meant TCS, sorry.

I’m still angry enough to just go for gold by cutting every corner and ramming everyone off-course. Not that I’ll get any penalty for it.

I’m sick of all this. First I pretty much stopped bothering with the “Race Entry” tab in Sport Mode because I was sick of losing all the time, and now this. I think I’ve begun to realize that maybe GT was never really for me. All this thinking and analysis over what, pretend racecars? It all seems worthless, as if I’ll never get anywhere particularly special in life with the useless crap I learn from this overly-technical series. I don’t even care if I get called a brainlet - I’m just burnt out. I’ve had enough. I haven’t even touched Ace Combat 7 yet, and I bought it months ago. I’ve been perseverating on GTS, and likely for nothing! I’ve already made peace that I’ll never get those trophies for total wins/poles, nor the in-game achievement for consecutive clean races. But now I can’t even get gold on GT League, against the AI? Even after trying to beat Gr.2 @ RBR Wet for over an hour and a half? I’m done.

GT has been living in my head, not rent-free, but paying too little and too late. It’s potentially time for me to evict it from my head. GT simply does not “spark joy” for me these days. Even in the context of playing videogames, I sometimes feel like I’m wasting my time. I’m gonna pick a good bourbon and start drinking. Maybe Woodford Reserve. I’m done with GT and racing sims.

I just can’t keep doing this anymore. I’m just not having fun.

If that's the case, then why are you still here ranting then? And what are you trying to prove, anyway?
