I never doubted that helicopters would be back in the game. There’s no reason they wouldn’t be.

Girlfriends? Stupid. Not exactly glad they’re back.

I would hope that eating and working out were in the game, but since so many people don’t like it they could include it as an optional thing.

Thats strange about the eating and working out aspect, I would like to see that again with maybe some small changes, good to hear there will be girlfriends though, I wasn't expecting that to make a return.
I'm glad the having to eat "feature" is gone. It was just stupid and annoying. It didn't add anything to the game, it was just irritating to get that stupid message all the time. At least with the workout thing, you could take it or leave it, you weren't required to do it on a regular basis.

The girlfriend thing was also stupid and annoying, I'm not exactly thrilled to hear it's back in the new game.

About helicopters, was there ever any reason to think they weren't going to include them in the game?

No, people just heard no aeroplanes and started crying “Oh no, there’s no flying in the game!”

I am going to miss the eating from San Andreas. It added an RPG element to the game and allowed you to completely change the appearance of your character. No big deal but I am very happy there are helicopters. :)

I don't think you're thinking of the eating "feature" of San Andreas. The eating thing just meant that your character couldn't survive a certain length of in-game time without getting a warning to eat. If you didn't eat, your energy would go down until you eventually died. It had nothing to do with your character's appearance, which was a consequence of your in-game gym activity.

KM.

both the gym and how you ate would alter your appearance, if you ate alot without going to the gym, eventually you would get fat.

You don’t die from not eating. You will stay on 1 unit of health for the rest of time.

Don't get so antsy about the inclusion of girlfriends. It'll most likely be a side-feature, that if you don't want to utilise, you don't have to.

I'm annoyed my question didn't get used. I asked whether the clock would be in standard GTA time or real-time, or maybe even somewhere in between.

Nuts.

Oh, and what's this about Niko not liking prostitution? Must've missed that one..

I believe one member at GTAForums already managed to conclude that the game clock would run how it always has.

24 minutes=24 Hours.

Thats not true. You COULD change your appearance from very skinny to very fat to very muscular. All these changed looked completely different. I even posted pics a long time ago of how different each character looked depending on how you played the game. I started 2 different profiles and immediately ran to the burger place and ate the max. Then I kept coming back and within a few minutes I had my character as fat as possible and he was even a lot slower and extremely fat.
Amazing I searched for a couple minutes and actually remember when I took and posted the pics!!! Post 112 in this thread https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?t=50355&page=3&highlight=san+andreas+pics
That only took a few minutes to get CJ from extremly skinny, to extremly fat.

but things such as artificial intelligence and the behaviors of pedestrians reacting to things such as a weapon being pulled out in front of them has been worked on a lot.

Sweet.

I’m a little dissapointed that the character can’t be customised as much, but it’s probably a good call because that is probably one of the things that lead to the story in San Andreas seeming irrelevant for me.

"Virtually none" of the characters from the previous games are returning, and a lot of them are dead anyway according to Dan. "

I wonder if that means we'll at least hear about them?

Well "virtually none" doesn't mean none, so there's a possibility we'll see one or two familiar faces.

I'm wondering about the "multiple outcomes" addition. That should be a pretty nifty feature (if they don't do it how True Crime did it).

I'm glad he's not customisable, though. There was a certain shallowness about that addition to San Andreas, and it didn't seem to really add as much to the game as first thought. Besides, by the sound of it, his appearance and characteristics seem to have been pretty well perfected.

I'm glad they've fixed the loading (to virtually non-existant) and the "pop-ups" (also to virtually none). I really hope they also get rid of blocking off the path to each island, though.

I'm really interested in the mobile phone thing, as well. I'm not exactly sure what it means by "set up ambushes", but being able to call people to do things with or just "hang out" is pretty cool, as well as being able to call a taxi.

I'm not sure what they mean by "Staten Island" being "boring". I've never been to New York, so what exactly is that all about?

"Set up ambushes" Sounded to me like speculation on the editors side of the capability's of the phone but not from Dan Houser himself, from memory of reading the article.

Hahahaha, well, it seems that they hit the nail right on the head.
Staten Island has to be the most non-New York place in New York State. It is dead boring, no character whatsoever, nothing important down there, period. Last time I went there, was to eat at a restaurant that was supposed to be good, and it sucked. of course.

I think Long Island is more of a borough than S.I.

wow, i just read the whole story about gta 4. its looks amazing. I'm so looking forward to that game. I believe it might make it as GOTY?!

Didn't GTAIII and San Andreas get GOTY? I'm sure this'll be in the top three at the worst.

Magazine
"Rockstar is aiming to capture the craziness of NYC life - so plenty of aggressive weirdos inexplicably calling you 'buddy', then."
Hahahaha, I'm always calling "buddy" everybody around here.

Absolutely amazing. I can't thank you enough for that, McLaren!

The itch grows bigger, and this time it'll take more than a dab of cream to cure.

I was going to post them the other day when they were first scanned but as they are form a publication I thought it would be breaching copyright laws hence breaching AUP. So instead I gave a link to where they could be easily found.

The way you describe the non loading through the entire game is exactly what Crackdown did. And Crackdown did it with full co-op online. The telephone part of it is exactly how Saints row did it. You could call a "homie" and he would just arrive in a car to help you out. This was on top of all the homies you could get off the street to join you. You could also call an ambulance and taxi in Saints Row.
I am happy to see they are using some of the best parts of Crackdown and Saints Row and combining them all into GTA4. 👍
I didnt realize we were allow to post scanned images or I would have done this last week when I read all of this. lol
