I actually have the AUS version pre-ordered at EBGames. But I'm seriously thinking of canceling it and getting a US version from Play-asia, hopefully they say exactly what has been cut before release.

I suppose its its really not that much is probably not worth canceling, then again anything cut is bad enough! :sick:

I had it pre-ordered at JB for $115. Went in, got the money back and have pre-ordered a PAL, R-18 version from a UK online store for $95 including postage. Only downside is that i'll have to wait about a week for it to get here after the local release.
 
I can image AUS sales will literally drop off the cliff once people realize they are getting a chopped game...

Which UK store did you get it from? I'm thinking about getting the US version from playasia, together with CoD4 for about 160$ shipped. But Small_Fryz said that the US version may not work with Aussie players online. It'd be something I'd like to know before I got it.

UK version I doubt would be any different, if the US version wouldn't let you play against aussies then the Uk version wouldn't either.
 
Anyone, specifically UK-wise, gone with ordering the £70 special edition since the regular edition is sold out for release day delivery???

Dion said it was NTSC/PAL issues or something. But if he is wrong it doesn't surprise me.

Why wouldn't it? Online gameplay is generally, not rated.
 
I thought I read some issues with Aussie gamers with US CoD4 copies had trouble connecting to Aussie Servers.

Also, I just had a thought, what if what is cut from the Australian Game affects the Online Compatibility with uncut versions.
 
Wow, and I thought we had it bad with games. For what it's worth the only region locked 360 game online I've had was Army of Two (stupid).

It can't, nor it shouldn't. Online doesn't have anything really that can be cut unless the Aus. govt. doesn't like helping mobsters or dirty words from online players. The cuts are pretty much offline stuff.

BTW, here's a rumor of what is told to be cut. And it seems pretty scary. :scared:

Yeah I read about that, If that is the only think cut then I will just buy and keep a local version, I can always see the uncut scene later in a video if I wanted to.

I can't believe I had something planned for this thread... then lost it in one of my RTF files or accidentally deleted it all. So let me make this brief. GTA4 looks to be pretty fun, but I fear the arcade charm from GTA3 (and subsequent mini series between GTA3 and GTA4) will be gone and kind of dilute GTA4 for me. It will be a different experience, but I have some of my doubts that I may not like GTA4 as much as I liked GTA3. Just doubts at this point. Most of the other material I've read looks and seems amazing.

I'm just after seeing that on TV here in Ireland, just a few minutes ago during a commercial break. First GTA:IV ad I've seen on TV.

I wonder if the same commercial is running in the UK but with UK XBox prices advertised at the end.

It's an interesting commercial, because it's not just for the game, it's also promoting the Xbox version specifically. Obviously Microsoft are behind the commercial, and not just Rockstar.
