I can't believe I had something planned for this thread... then lost it in one of my RTF files or accidentally deleted it all. So let me make this brief. GTA4 looks to be pretty fun, but I fear the arcade charm from GTA3 (and subsequent mini series between GTA3 and GTA4) will be gone and kind of dilute GTA4 for me. It will be a different experience, but I have some of my doubts that I may not like GTA4 as much as I liked GTA3. Just doubts at this point. Most of the other material I've read looks and seems amazing.

John, while the game is touting realism, just be sure that it is normally applying to how cars will drive more realistically, and how a city would really work than in GTA 3. Other than that though, you should still be expecting the same type of gameplay GTA III felt, but just more solid and improved. :)
 
Usually if a game went back to it's roots like GTAIV is doing with GTA3(in a way) I'd be skeptical if I were going to like this game or not. But one it's Rockstar and they probably made it feel completely different but all at the same time familiar. That and I really didn't get into GTA until Vice City. I played a little bit of GTAIII but never all the way through.e

Not to mention every magazine so far that's reviewed it gave it a perfect score.

On a side note: I started playing GTA when it was still a top-down game. I think it was GTAII. I guess I completely missed the third installment and then saw alot of publicity for Vice City and decided to get it. The rest, as they say, is history.

I wonder if this will be the last great GTA game since EA is planning on buying out Take Two. Since everyone thinks EA games are crap. (Well mostly) Or am I overreacting?

This is rubbish. I sincerely hope nothing big is removed from the game, if we are talking modified cut scenes I wouldn't be too bothered but still.....

That commercial is excellent, I had to keep hitting the replay button to see everything that was going on in the background of each shot.

Hardly going to happen. April 15th was the deadline for the shareholders to elect new people. They didn't, and now the current board will remain unopposed, and deny the offer.
 
The extended Uk version of the commercial is excellent. Easily the best video of GTA4 that I have seen. I cant wait!!

GTA 4 Social club is open for pre-membership, I joined and are already member 38800!

It records and displays all your stats and rankings online, I think a bit like battlefield does. It also allows you to buy songs you like in the game on the social club, and many other things we don't know about. Quite sure the Social club website is available in the game internet (internet cafes etc)
 
Unfortunately there are no features available until GTA IV is released. Can't wait to see what R* have waiting for us.
 
Some info on the Social club taken from Wiki.

On 27 March 2008 Rockstar games announced that they would be launching the Rockstar Social Club. The Social Club is a website that will display the gameplay statistics of registered users, and it will also feature competitions and awards based on player activity within the game. On 17 April 2008 the Social Club site was launched. http://socialclub.rockstargames.com

The Social club will initially consist of five parts, including the LCPD Police Blotter, The Story Gang, The 100% Club, The Hall Of Fame and The Liberty City Marathon.

There is also a feature called The Zit - users of the Social Club will be able to dial a number on their in game mobile phone to mark a song and when they log on to the Social Club they will be able to purchase the song via Amazon.com 's music store and download it to their computer (as long as they are connected to Xbox Live when they mark the song).
 
Well, my Xbox360 arrived back from Microsoft today and it seems to be working fine. It took less than 2 weeks from when I phoned them about it, and 10 days since it was collected by UPS. That's not bad, as long as it keeps working...

I just sent my brothers in on Monday and no joke it is already back today!! 4 days I couldnt even believe it!! Microsoft paid to Fedex overnight both ways. :dopey:

That's a good turn around time. Just don't play it until you get GTA IV. I've never had a problem with my 360 but I'm worrying about the marathon gaming session I'm going to have on the 29th.

Lucky you! Mine took a month. Then again, I was during the summer. And I noticed we now have 3 Niko avatars! :dopey:

As for the Social Club, I am member #20113. The numbers, though, don't necessarily go in order, because 1 member on GTAForums registered an hour after me, and was #10,6xx.

Uh I'm having no luck registering. The registering form is 2/3 off my screen and there's no scroll bars so I can see it... WTF
