I am just checking to see how much of a nerd i am on this. How many of you guys/gals are going to get your pre-order at midnight monday? I am going to be at gamestop at midnight to get my copy, then again i have a pretty bad sleeping disorder so i will be awake anyways. Why not go ahead and get it and start killing?

Same here with Australian retailers, but not such a high ratio, Game Traders is reporting a 2 to 1 PS3 favor for GTA 4.
 
Well, i think ive only got PS3 games on backorder... not sure if anybody has pre ordered a xbox 360 version...

And yes jay it would be very easy for a game to be leaked at this stage, if a small town in north queensland can have the best part of 40 copies sitting out the back a week before release date, it would be very easy for one to go missing somewhere around the world.

I would, but I'm not positive on my class schedule yet for next week.

My week has flown by plus I'm going to Brighton this weekend (Which member is from Brighton? I'm sure there is one)

I'm going to a Gamestation midnight launch and will play till the early hours. I'm going to do the first dozen missions then I'll have to go online.
 
I heard so much trouble from xbox version. textures are skipping, slow frame rates, late texture reading etc. I dont want to discuss about that. all I care is if ps3 version doesnt have any kind problem like that I'll be happy and it will be a good score for playstation. hell yeah!

It depends on where you read about the "trouble". Remember alot of people are playing the leaked pirate versions which could have all sorts of compression problems which could be causing the game to have problems.

I also believe that Rockstar would have carried out a thorough testing programme to make sure that both versions are equal. I haven't read about any problems from official magazines.
 
The Official Xbox Magazine review apparently just mention what it called "minor grumbles" with the game. I'm not too worried, it's be nice to have a 100% bug free GTA game, but I'm use to these issues with GTA games, and fanboys on both sides are going to exaggerate and make up nonsense anyway, so I'm just going to buy and play the game and decide for myself what it's like.

I really don't see there being much trouble with the game. Rockstar knows how big of a launch this is and there is no way they would just throw it out there without proper testing and debugging. There will always be some bugs with games, you just can't prevent it. But i bet anything there won't be a bunch of bugs, its just too big a release.

Well, after arriving at work and walking down to the docks to get my truck, I noticed that every bay had a pile of boxes with yellow security tape on them. I'm pretty sure every driver visited an EB Games store around Sydney today (Thursday) to deliver these boxes marked "From SONY/TAKETWO". LOTS of boxes.

Just out of interest TM, I'm picking up two copies midnight Tuesday, one was for a friend but he has now bought a copy from Fleabay. If you want, I could send you my spare copy in exchange for some genuine British pounds (trade price of course). Is it too late to cancel your pre-order?

I pre-ordered assassins creed from the gamestop that is in the mall here and i went to pick it up on release day and they said, oh we didn't get our shipment.:ouch: I was pissed. I asked him why didn't they call people that had it ordered and tell them, he didn't have an answer for that so i canceled my order and got my money back. Then i went downstairs to another game shop and bought it and went back up to gamestop and told him, hey look at this, this is called customer service. If it were me i would just cancel the order and go get it locally.

That's a kind offer :) I just had another look at the order status and it now says that it will be dispatched on the 1st May, which is not as bad as the 7th May it said before, so I'll keep the order for now. I'm sure with the amount of places selling out, however, that you'll have no problem shifting the spare copy, but thanks again for the first refusal 👍

I'm generally pretty happy with Amazon, and as I found out by not pre-ordering Prologue, relying on my local stores to have the game in stock is a bad idea around where I am (obviously alot of PS3 owners in Glasgow!)... Despite my moaning, I can handle a couple of days extra wait!

Well at least your loyal to them, thats a rare and good quality these days:tup: I try not to say i don't like a certain company just because of one store. But there is 3 gamestops here where i am and i only goto one of them. The other ones are just horrible. I never rely on them having it in stock on a game like GTA coming out. If you want it you are going to have to pre-order that bad boy:sly:
 
Well, I preordered mine from Play.com since we've ordered literally 100s of games from them before with rare problems.

I would have done it from Amazon since it was only £34.99, but since they aren't totally reliable with their delivery times, my brother wanted it to come on the day of release which Play should stick to...
 
Jeez, I haven't even preordered a copy yet.

I had Vice City preordered, but when I showed up that morning, the shop had either lost my preorder record or hadn't bothered to honor it. I can't remember now, but I think I ended cancelling my order with that shop and slogging around the town until I found a shop with a copy in stock.

However, when San Andreas came out I didn't have copy ordered, I just turned up on the morning at a local game shop and joined a queue of teenagers who legally shouldn't have been able to buy it, and walked out the door a few minutes later with a copy.

I think I should phone my nearest game shop tomorrow and book a copy, just to be sure.

some of my friends told me that. they tried the leaked version. but ofcourse a proper release is always better than a pirate one :)

BTW, MS & Rockstar said they're finally looking into the gamertags that are playing GTA IV early. Take2 also said they are extremely disappointed through all the hardwork they've put into this game, folks would suddenly just pirate it less than a week from a release.

Hopefully most of the people playing pirate copies will buy the game once released. £40 isn't much for something that is going to give you a year or more of gameplay, in fact I can't think of anything that you can buy for £40 that is going to have the lifespan & entertainment value of GTA IV.
