OK so I've been trying to gold this event for about 2 weeks now, and it simply isn't possible! the tires are awful, the engine is too slow revving and I can not catch up with that F430. what am I doing wrong?

Is this the Tuscany rally where it gets dark after a while? Yeah, I didn't manage to gold it as well. But it isn't really necessary, because you don't get any prize for it:sick:

Yeah that race pissed me off, after it got dark because you couldn't see the road properly any more, but after I did the race a few times, I tried to stay as relaxed and calm as possible during the race and I ended up getting the gold for it

Just keep at it and you will beat it. Was like that for me until last night. Everything at zero except abs at 1. Goodluck.

Adjust the brightness so you can see (Lambo has s h i t e lights)
It's basically just a matter of repetition. If you did the Alfa - Eiger test with ease you should be able to gold this aswell.
Be careful and try not to go sideways as this will make you slower.
Overtake effectively and you'll get it. Took me maybe 10 attempts.

As mentioned above, changing the brightness of your TV will help. Most flat screen TVs have a display mode that you can switch between "normal", "dynamic", "gaming", etc. Pause the game and mess with the settings until you can see the turns better.

Here's my video of barely getting gold. The run is pretty clean but there are a few places I over cooked the tires and it slowed me down. You've got to memorize the turns and brake zones so you can link them together and keep your foot on the gas as long as possible.

I don't wanna sound cocky but that's amazingly easy (when compared to Eiger Time Trial & Vettel challenges) and if you can't gold it you should stop aiming for the all golds then.

I golded it in under 20 minutes, it wasn't bad at all.

I stuck the racing line on and golded it after a few goes. Nowhere near gold on the Alfa challenge though.

This is the only event where I had to put the driving line on. But I golded this back when I was using DS3, i've yet to attempt it with my wheel. All I remember is it was a pig to drive and did not like the bumps/crests at all.

Let me get this straight, if someone can't gold a race as fast as you can, they should stop trying?

It took me about the same time as the Eiger time trial...but I think if I had set the brightness properly it would have been easier from the start. You need to get a rhythm through the first section so you can pass the cars at the same points each attempt. Otherwise when you catch them in odd places it is difficult to adjust your line without losing speed.

Nah, of course not.

But if they get stuck for weeks on something which is nowhere near as hard as some other events - they should stop trying. It'll save them time & nerves.
I advise people just to play the game in the way they'll have fun. GT5 is a huge game and there are plenty of ways 'round it. 👍

It's hard. Darkness that you can cut with a knife, twisty course, sloppy car on bad tires, and a lot of tight turns at the top of elevations. I thought about turning up the brightness, but honestly, I felt like that was cheating. The driving line helps if you don't view it as cheating, but like other courses, it isn't always the best line for a particular driving style. This and Eiger took me the longest, and even then I passed the last car about 50ft from the finish line.

If you just want to get it done, adjust brightness, turn on the driving line, and you should be fine after a few runs. If not, practice the course until you can drive it in your sleep. I have found that I can gold a lot more things now after having played the game more and using different cars in varying states of tune than when I first got it. I used to think that tuning every car I had to the max to get events done was the best way and my reward for earning all those beautiful shiny credits. However, the more I play, the more I realize that while grinding has its place, the real enjoyment comes from taking a piss poor handling car on bad tires and taming the thing with driving skill until you can beat challenges as close to stock as possible. Of course, I still taunt the final Enzo at Sarthe when I pass him in my <insert tuned Ferarri here>. :)

Well, that SOUNDS better than the initial post, but I still think he should keep trying. I was stuck for weeks on Eiger and this. If I followed your advice, I would have just left it silver. I have golds on both those challenges now. If he really wants to get gold on everything, he isn't going to be happy until he gets there, so telling him to just give up isn't exactly the best advice in the world. That said, I DO agree that people should play the way that is fun for them.

Once you figure out how to gold it with the brightness up, you'll be able to do it with the brightness down. The issue is learning the track, which you can't do in pitch black. No one would ever drive 100+ mph down a dark road they didn't know, would they?

I just golded this after giving up on it long ago. It doesn't help that the course changed after an update making it more difficult I think. I decided to give it a go again after getting a new wheel. I set driving line on, ABS on 10, and Active Steering on to help tame the beast in the corners, and in game brightness up. You really have to sling it around the corners and have throttle control at the same time. Good luck to all.

im pretty sure the game comes with 2 variations of this particular stage and one is a lot harder than the other, ive heard people say it before and ive got to agree with them as on my first playthrough i golded it with ease but on my second account its a lot harder.

The Darkness plays very little part in this. If you are A good racer you will know you wont get it first time. Also A handy tip, Dont use the racing line. You find yourself slowing down 95% of the time you dont even need to! The best way around this track is to have a few go's and learn the best route through. It is very easy once you get the hang of it without losing you're patience. Sometimes the obvious line is the wrong line. I'm not being stupid, I can gold this all day long after spending A lot of time trying to gold it!!

You may find old replays on youtube from the original release. One of the patches introduced changes to the generated tracks and as a result this course changed. As long as your game is properly patched, everyone has the same track now.
