I just saw a gameprogram on tv and there was a presentation of GT4 and they said the PAL version will come out in march and will have more european cars than the japanese version and also a lot of other different stuff.
The gameprogram had the Japanese version and they said when you got the PAL version that its going to be so different that you have to start from zero all over. The AI will be much more difficult and there will be an other OST.
So they made me curious. As long as there are enough subaru's, pick-ups and SUV's in it its all ok.

So if the PAL version is maybe changing a lot, the US version will be changing as well. Maybe in the US version they put more US cars.

One thing I really hope is that they just add stuff in our versions instead of changing!

Making the Game region specific is not bad.49 Skylines work for JP.However 35 Skylines and 8 more Elise and 6 more TVR's Tamora's for the EU.

more cars? this is defenetly a posiblility, a different OST? of course...

better AI? doubt it, would be nice, but they can't make significant changes this late into the game with out having huge delays.

And I suppose the other reports of GT testing done by SCEA are also false?

Come now.. do you really think that SCEA is going to spend all that money to print up a game that they didn't test to make sure it works properly? If there's a problem, SCEA pays the bill.. they're not going to trust PD or SCEJ with their money.

Fact is, imported games ARE tested by SCEA. And I can prove it right now. You own GT3, yes? Go look at the manual. Look in the back, under "Credits". Right after PD's listing, you'll see a section called "Sony Computer Entertainment America, Production". In and amongst that group of people, you'll see a few with the label of "Quality Assurance". Including a group of no less than eight people with the title "Quality Assurance Analysts".

Now, are you trying to say that all of those people, who are listed as employees of Sony Computer Entertainment AMERICA, are all secretly working for PD and are actually located in Japan? Puleeze...

When the game is gold, it's gold. PD is no longer working on GT4, they haven't been for several weeks now. Game goes gold, they turn it over to SCEJ, and it's SCEJ that tests it and sends it out. The same holds true for SCEA and SCEE.

you bring out an intresting point.
the game took months to come out after the japanese version had hit the shelves... so you'd think they would have a bug free version after all that time right? how bout MORE bugs than the japanese version? i owned both versions, and there was a driving force bug on the US version wich i can't understand for the life of me how it made it to retail, wich WASNT on the japanese version...
the wheel would pretty much stop working completley and to get it to work again you'd have to unplug and plug it back in... great in those endurance races or LAN parties (doesn't happen often, but when it does. it sucks.)

lets hope that GT4's testing isn't to make it more buggy instead of less... a la GT3.

i dont think they mean to go back to program, probably just raising the compatition level a bit.

Liquid Li0n does bring up an interesting point. It seems that everyone forgot about the SEMA winner's car being placed into the NA version of the game. 💡 And if GT4 NTSC/US has a Mazda Concept in it, then all those PLUS possible bug fixes could easily explain the US delay. :ouch:

I, for one, wouldn't mind a version with less bugs a *few* more cars. The more the merrier! But not to the point of never releasing the game! :nervous:

-Cheers!

H my god, I hate being in the PIT changing my tires and filling my tank for 3 times while the AI goest once only!!!

Why is that?!!!!
Where did thier tire damage?!!!
Is the gasoline tank superfull?!!!!
Even with mode1 in B-Spec!!!!!

I hope that it will be fixed

Hey Hyde, Thanks for the info. . . .

Be a better man and not reply to the people that don't respect what are doing and have to say or better yet. . . . don't know what they are talking about. All they know is what they read. . . . you know what I mean?

Thanks,
Jeramy

Polyphony,
PUT at least ONE FERRARI INSTEED OF 500 NISSANS MITSUBISHIS AND OTHER $4!+s

HAHAHA!!!!! no kidding

It’s because of legalities, topped with a few more legalities, followed by a few handful of ‘technical’ legalities…when these get resolved (if/when), then maybe in GT5…until then, I’m sure you’ll live!
(Doesn’t anybody read postings on this board anymore?)

SimRaceDriver, it seems you have no sense of humour.
On GT4 being CHANGED for the NA and PAL release, :scared: :nervous: I certainly hope so, but I doubt it's possible. Bugs fixed, maybe. More cars/tracks/more/better AI? Doubtful. Well, this works either way for me. If I'm right, I told you so. If not, I get a better game .

With the more additions and changes I guss its worth the wait. I mean what would you rather have and uncompleted game with in your hads or a completed on with 200+ cars and some other crazy stuff!

Quality Assurance Analysts do not play video games in search for bugs for hours. They load it, make sure the game does not crash between menu's, and look for translation errors and things of that sort. They do not spend their time playing the video game for weeks on end in search of bugs and glitches, this is handled at Polyphony.

Food for thought people. SCEA is OWNED by Sony Computer Entertainment Inc.

Sony Computer Entertainment Inc. OWNS Polyphony Digital.

Now what makes you think Sony doesn't trust Sony? Again, polyphony does all bug controll and testing in their own offices, with their own analysts, at SCEA, the Quality Assurance Analyst ensures the game does not crash, and that it doesn't read like a poorly translated foriegn film.

To hyde - Your story isn't believeable, and I'm not really calling you on it for any reason in particular, but it's bothersome, you get peoples hopes up for nothing, they post a bunch of problems they think the game has, that will never change, ever ever ever, and then they are let down again.

Just to put this in the air. Once SCEA gets a copy of GT4, it's a final build, they run thier quality assurance, if the game runs fine without a hitch, it goes into production. If it crashes somewhere, it goes back. This is all they do. They do NOT say "hey..you know they didn't make this car in these colors" orrr "hey, you know the other GT games had a memory card battle feature...send this back". No.

Is it possible these could make it in? Yes, but highly unlikely, and this thread would have nothing to do with it.

Basically all this thread is, is yet anohter complaint thread....full of a lot of people who are going to bicker about stupid things. If you are unhappy, don't buy it, it's an awesome game, your loss.

i agree with tha_con.
also i might be mistaken about this, but he doesnt speak (or type) english very well.
theres an even slimmer chance that some one OUTSIDE of the US will know an SCEA QA tester, sorry but again its just not believable.

You must have missed the last few years where the internet world got pretty small. I know a visual effects guy in England, even though I live in the U.S. Is it that hard to believe? I know people from all over the world, in all walks of life.

Or did I miss the memo that said I was only allowed to communicate with people in my own country?

You're right? You don't even know what you're right about. How in the holy hell could you possibly know who Hyde communicates with online? I've talked to SCEA testers myself, does that automatically make me a "liar"? Or is it somehow believable because I happen to live in the U.S.?

read my posts buddy, i said "i might be mistaken about this".
plus, i dont care who you've spoken to, this story is just pure BS, a tester cant change the game content at all, all he can do is say "oops heres a show stopper that needs to be fixed"

PS- Why do you have to be such an ASS HOLE all the time?

Because of those big letters in that post, that's why. You're a troll, nothing more. I've yet to see you contribute anything useful to any thread on any forum. You seem to excel at stirring up trouble, though, just like right now. You found this thread easily enough... saw an argument and jumped on board, calling Hyde a liar. No different from any other troll, using the internet's anonymity to his advantage. For example, you call me an asshole. Something you'd never do if we were face-to-face. Because you know there's not a damn thing I can do about it here. So you take advantage of it.. insulting people at every turn, knowing they can't do a thing about it except insult you back, which is precisely what you're after.

No, youre mistaken, im not the troll, im merely stating my opinion on this subject. yet you come here ONLY to attack me. you see the name "wolf8218" and you automatically say "offensive mode on". i didnt stir anything up buddy. also, about the insult, it wasnt to make you feel bad, im sorry if i made you cry. it was only to see if you could start being nicer around some people (like me). but i guess you cant do that, either.

this is stupid.

Hyde made a repeat thread about complaints, say's he knows people, he doesn't.

You two are arguing about god knows what, it's stupid, and you'll get banned if you keep cursing.

Just let this thread die, or have someone close it, there are tons more like it, without the lies, storys, and bickering.

Just to put this in the air. Once SCEA gets a copy of GT4, it's a final build, they run thier quality assurance, if the game runs fine without a hitch, it goes into production.

So, in this equation, when PD announced the game had gone gold back in what..November...wouldn't that have been an indication that everything was done?
(Example: Game menus translated into the correct language based on regions, game tested & bugs, if any, fixed?)

If so, then why was the Asian market the only region to get the game, while everyone else waits 2-3 months? And if this isn't the case & PD is doing some additional 'bug fixing', wouldn't that be somewhat of a slap in the face to every one else who has already purchased the game?
(Think about all those users who have already had the game imported...if PD/Sony is doing some additional bug testing wouldn't that be a hint that you bought a less then perfect, possible flawed game?)

If the game was 'done' back in November, I don't see how it could take two or three months working on translations by PD to get the game out, especially when translating a game, given the staff that PD has, shouldn't take longer then it would take to model a car, which from what I hear, takes up to about a month per car.

So, I guess what I'm trying to ask for here is 'clarification' to:
What is it called, if anything, when a developer of a game has completed the game, done its testing & has everything regarding translations done & ready to go into production...does such a name exists? If so, I always thought it was a term called 'gold'...(as told to me once by a friend who once worked for EA)..and didn't GT4 go 'gold' back in November?

T.I.A. any clarification!

sorry if what i said led to turning this thread sour, but i believe jedi is making things very difficult for me around here for no apparent reason. (well maybe because hes senile  )

seriously though guys, just chill and wait for some news from Hyde!
We could start speculating many things, but all of that results to loss of energy for no reason. Patience is a virtue. Hyde will come through for us, wether it be good or bad!

I cannot imagine a situation where a game going gold would mean that it has been translated into other languages.

I don't care about a "slap in the face". I want my GD garage battle!

lol wolf. Lets see if Jedi will just let it end there and not reply. uh..

Anyways, I hope he's telling the truth about GT4 being fixed. I dont understand how these bugs got past the testers.... i guess they dont have hardcore players for testers, or maybe they had deadlines to make. :indiff:
