2 player garage races.

The ability to RE-equip stock wheels.

2 player full-screen replays, and make them SAVEABLE!

Garage races in LAN mode.

Yep I cannot beleive my eyes when I saw this features was missing! Wtf..?

Since GT1 these have been some of the best features of the game, 2 player full screen replays especially! Garage races in LAN mode missing, thats ridiculous.. First they don't include Online play and now you can't even use your own cars in LAN play, thats ****ed.. some people will have bought 2 PS2's and 2 Copies of the game to not have this (already got 2 PS2's but that includes me, we will buy 2 copies of the game(maybe not anymore though)) thats pathetic.

But IF they do re-include these features, definately will buy, but that's a very big deterrent!

i think people fail to see that this thread is originally for people who have played GT4's japan release and any bugs and inconsistencies that they may find.

as soon as someone mentions "working for SCEA" or "working for PD" then the flamers jump onto the band wagon and start blasting away. whether the info is real or not is not the point. point is this thread is not a wishlist thread or a BS thread. like others who have actually read Hyde's original post has said, this thread is for finding bugs in the japan GT4 release.

Even better, it's RR. With all that steel it's on the heavy side though, so it may not be ideal for drifting.

Actually, that's a common misconception.. the car is actually pretty light. 2712lbs (1233kg). That's less than a Ferrari Enzo, which weighs in at 1365kg. Less than quite a few Ferrari's, actually, and less than a Ford GT. And just a hair less than a Pagani Zonda. (I'm comparing it to supercars intentionally, since they're often known to be pretty lightweight).

Most people think that the car's body is steel... it isn't. The body itself is fiberglass. The stainless-steel panels are actually rather thin, and are simply laid over the underlying body. As a result, they have surprisingly little impact on the car's weight.

So, combine that with a RR engine.. the car's weight balance is 65% to the rear, so it would definitely have a tendency to want to break loose under pressure... I'd say it'll make a great drifting car. And at only 200hp, it's not overpowered, either.

Oops! I remember reading about its doors being too heavy to open efficiently, and I guess this carried my mind to remember that the DeLorean itself is a heavyweight. Also, my friend owns a toy DeLorean model, and it's pretty massive: uses only good quality steel. That may have something to do with it ;).
Two hundred horses is pretty decent, even for modern vehicles. Most street-stock "sporty" cars these days sell with smaller engines: GTI, Celica, etc.

Yep. The car was actually pretty quick, compared to other cars of the time, even in it's 130hp iteration.

As for the doors.. that was just cheap hydraulics, that.. That's one of the first restoration pieces DeLorean offers, is new hydraulics that can hold the door up without blinking. :)

Well, considering 43 THOUSAND members from MULTIPLE countries visit/participate in these forums, I'd say it would be a good place to find out what your hardcore supporters would like to see in your game. Is that really that far fetched? Of course, it makes me wonder if there is a primarily Japanese site like this that they would end up listening to more....with all the Skylines in the game.... :D

Anyone taking market share is best served by looking into the larger forums and gauging opinion there.

Of course, who's going to take a forum seriously when all the members are bickering and flaming each other, instead of actively participating in the discussion in a manner that can show respect for other peoples opinions, and sets up guidelines for the kinds of posts that attract the responses you see ( flame baiting )

Honestly, the childishness displayed here at times really makes me wonder if sticking around is something I want to continue to do.

can't believe anyone thinks that a forum will influence/help/hinder...whatever the game in any way to be honest.

even car manufacturer looks up in forums now and see how they can improve their product....

whats ur point???

we are the customers, they are suppose to keep us happy.

Ferret, if you honestly believe that a forum will do nothing to influence the development and content of a product such as a video game, then you have come to a conclusion that couldn't be further from the truth.

Go visit www.simtropolis.com. It is the largest fan-based site for the SimCity 4-family of products on the internet, with 56,377 members as of this post date. Maxis and Electronic Arts, the developer and publisher of the previously mentioned game family, frequent that website, it's chat rooms, AND it's forums on a regular basis. In fact, many people involved in the modification section of that community have developed very good, functional relationships with both the developer and publisher, and as a result, the countless number of additions and modifications of the game came to exist. In fact, the entire staff (unpaid volunteers, mind you) of the website were invited to Maxis' offices back when they were located in California Plaza, previewed an expansion pack and even provided direct input for improvements to the game.

The truth of the matter is that most game developers, as well as a good amount of other companies, pay close attention to their target market, what they do, and what they want. It's how they release a product that said target market actually enjoys. Unfortunately, doing this isn't always easy, and such is the case for Polyphony Digital, who operates under the delegation of Sony Computer Entertainment. I think that someone from Polyphony Digital has visited these forums at least once. They would be very stupid to ignore the community they rely on to purchase their product.

what's my point ?
people are naive.
e.g - GT5 'wishlist' thread...allll righty then :D

i dont think u know anything about marketing. or even product development for that matter

you are just pointing out how unknowledgeable u really are

You do that, because you know, every other game out there is perfect
I love how all these great new features are included in this game, yet, one or two things are left out, and everyone is up in arms. Would you rather not have GT4 at all and have your bottle?

We're not talking about some wishful feature that I'd hoped they would include. We're talkin about something that every GT game up until GT4 already had. Fact is I got the majority of use out of GT3 (and all other previous GT games) when competing with my friends with our mod'd cars... since PD, inexplicably, took this feature out I'm gonna keep my $60 in my wallet until they come out with a version that has proper multiplayer (and by proper I simply mean having the features that all previous 'inferior' GT's had).

ok...if you're happy to spend time putting ideas on to the board fine
with so many ideas it would be hard for some of them NOT to be included ;)

edit - just think about how many games they hope to sell worldwide, compare that to the number of users on this board, I'm not saying developers etc dont view these boards but you're living in la-la land if you think it has any great influence over the game, especially at this late stage

Worst thread ever.

Give Hyde a chance, it's not like he is saying anything revolutionary or really stupid like "OMG Ferrari! it's in for the US!!!!!" No he is simply asking for help for a friend. Whether this person exists or not really doesn't matter, I think it is good to compile all of the flaws so buyers from other countries know what they are getting into.

Ok look i have a US copy of GT4 now. you guys just dont get that the game is out. Sony just wants more hype.

Really? Prove it. A picture will do, with a close-up of the "NTSC U/C" logo in the corner, and the "Made in USA" on the back.

Yeah, that's a statement that demands proof. Especially considering the lack of advertisement in any of the circulars or papers. The week, or a few days before, any highly anticipated release....there is an ad for it, and usually right up front so you don't miss it ( usually with a "released on such and such date" next to it in bold black print )

This one's easy to do, put the game in your scanner and click "scan"

Hell, I'll host the picture for you so it can be prominently displayed on the site if you don't have the means.

Well lets see... on one hand I want to believe shempowers :cough: see location <-- :cough: but on the other hand I don't quite think it needs any advertisement if you know what I mean...

i could believe about the beta version that hyde is talkin about, but not the actual game... please don't turn this into some "IGN style" spamming

The Mini S has a 6 speed gearbox since it was relesed so thats not an Error.

I think he knows that... The way I read it, he was telling the programmers that it had six gears.. apparently, the one in the game has only five.

That's the way I read it, anyway.

Are you sure UPS isn't active on Monday? I'm expecting a package through UPS, and the site says that it'll be delivered on Monday the 17th. Not everyone has federal holidays off.

Personally, in regards to this thread, I see no reason not to believe Hyde. He's not spouting off the usual newbie "EBGames says....", he's just giving us a bit of information which, in the end, doesn't speculate about anything at all. I think too many people here have become so jaded and bitter towards rumor that anything even remotely hinting at a release, no matter when that release may be, is met with outright hostility.

Same here. Would it happen to be a DFP? :D

So long as there's no spelling errors like in GT2, I'll be fine. High Speed Ring and Autumn Ring were frequently called High Speed Link/Rink and Autumn Link/Rink. Annoying.

i've just talked to my friend at SCEA about GT4, he said they just received a beta copy of GT4 in english, but incomplete cuz its on a Single Layer DVD instead of dual.

they are currently looking for bugs in the NA release and i've told them the following bugs/mistake i've found

1) NO Garage in arcade mode
- hopefully my friend can find out whats happened here and might have a chance to get it back in the NA release

2) Mini Cooper S have a 6 speed gear box not 5

3) Ford SVT Lightning is FR not 4WD

4)Mercedes Benz E55, SL500, SL55, SL65, SL600, SLR does not simulate as an Automatic transmission

if there are any more mistake and bugs, pls post here, so i'll forward it to my friend

cuz we might help change GT4

5) Wrong rims on Volvo 240.

I dunno, I've seen a few posters around town. They really don't say much more than 'Gran Turismo 4', though. They DO NOT have a release date on them (I checked).

But the fact that there are publicity posters and signs out has to be good.
