Endurance Racing - long races, night races, tire wear

"Endurance". Codemasters, or generally a lot of racing games these days endurance racing is simply a minute or two longer then the usual stint. I'm not too hopeful for this unless they really are digging into their Toca roots.

For gamers looking for online functionality, there will be 99 levels for each of the disciplines that will constantly have things to unlock, with around 30 to 50 hours of content here alone.

Awesome. 👍 Always hated levels ending at 30 or 40. Seemed pretty stupid and this is much better!

Overall, I'm going to buy it. I loved the first Grid so much, and despised the second. What a good come back this is! Maybe we'll finally have a Codemaster's game that doesn't have the online playability last 2-3 months.

I'm hoping Endurance racing implies Pit stops, otherwise I can't see the point of Tire wear.

Me too, except the physics... :yuck: Hopefully the new GRiD Autosport will have a good physics model.

Their F1 series has pit-stops obviously so they should be able to easily implement that.

The Le Mans races in Grid were stretched over 24 minutes, and you could run a full 24 hours in quick race. Fingers crossed this is the type of "endurance" they mean.

But it had no pit-stops which was my biggest gripe. Otherwise it was staggering!

Grid has never featured pit-stops so that's why I'm hoping they have them. Then again, they never had tire wear either in Grid so there's something interesting.

That's true, but maybe Codemasters will look at their other games (F1, for example) to get inspiration for Grid.

Looks decent actually, hopefully Codies start to steer the series back on track.

Surely it won't be full price? Thinking £30 tops.
It's available for 45 pounds at Game UK. http://www.game.co.uk/en/grid-autos...Size=20&categoryIdentifier=722619&catGroupId=

I was going to post that there aren't pit stops in this game but my post was too late. Anyway let's see other stuff worth mentioning.
  • There will be split screen.
  • PC version has 4K textures
  • You can change the length of races, maximum is 20 laps. You can also set up your own custom cups with multiple races, each with practice and qualifying should you wish.
  • Demo Derby is in there from start but it's not part of the career although it's there should you want to play it. Offline, online or split screen.

Jesus. What last-gen game even touches that price-range after a few weeks? SIlly move.

Can't wait to try out that cockpit view without the steering wheel and see how it looks from my POV as I sit in my rig, hopefully my G27 wheel lines up nicely with the screen and the FOV they set it at and it looks like I'm sitting in a real car with only one steering wheel!

All it takes is for Spa, Silverstone, Bathurst, Suzuka, Nurburgring GP, Brands Hatch and Doningtin to be confirmed and it's a pre order from me...even 4 out of the above 7 will do!

I have a feeling that except for online series commitments, I'll stop playing GT6 on June 24 2014!

I see the returning cockpit view is still plagued by the thing that (I think) contributed to the 5% usage rate -- the horribly erratic and distracting wheel animation. I would have always used cockpit view in GRID and DIRT if not for that, but I was forced to play from the chase cam instead. The rubbing-is-racing-minded AI also require you to be more aware of your surroundings.

Considering it's for 360 and arriving soon, if this game is at least as good as the first GRID I could see myself picking it up to hold me over until PCARS in November.

I'm hoping for Imola to be included, that track would be great in all these racecar types.

They have confirmed 22 locations and around a 100 routes which is certainly a lot on the variation side but I was hoping for more diversity location-vise.

Unless i'm mistaken, Spa and Bathurst are already granted since both of them have been in Grid 2.

Yup. I absolutely hate it. Wish they would realize that. Probably why no one was using it thus getting it removed.

Let me guess, two or three other retailers will have their own exclusive bonus meaning nobody can have the full content game. Really getting tired of this practice.
Actually no, the Codemasters Community Manager said that they learned from their Grid 2 scenario and this time they don't want to fragment the community.

Why is there a Suzuki Liana behind the F3 car...?

Nah, back in normal perspective it looks kinda like a Merc to me... pretty sure it's C63.

One behind the 370Z could be an Impreza hatchback. Though I'm more interested by the one behind the RX-7...

Working across left to right (on the next row):

Ariel Atom (easy), Subaru Impreza wait is that the Cruze, McLaren 12C?, Audi of some description please be Robb Holland S3 please be Robb Holland S3, Merc C63.
