Damage model has improved, especially in terms of mechanical damage (things going wrong with the car), losing gears etc

There are some BTCC cars (and tracks) in the game, along with a lot of other cars from other real world series. Unfortunately the reality is now that if you want a licensed game then you're only ever going to have that one license.

We'd love to have the full licenses for BTCC, DTM and more all in one game but it just wouldn't be possible.

From a content side we simply wouldn't have the resource to officially replicate all these series to replicate the real world.

Man GRID Autosport is looking great. THIS, is how Codemaster should be and always be, not like GRID 2 because that's not their style. I also like how the colourpalette and replays in GRID Atutosport are relaxing, whereas in GRID 2 there were... Crazy. I'm so excited for this GRID game. :D

True it's a very late announcement. Damn I am excited too....just listen to that sound broahhhhmmmm brbr broahmmmmm :D Finally a racinggame to my taste again!

Touringcars so far:

* BMW 320
* Chevrolet Cruze
* Ford Focus
* Honda Civic

Considering that Grid was around long before Project CARS... ;)

No doubt that they're similar though, especially with this 'choose your own path' career. Seems like an extension of the regional career in the original Grid.
Rip-off was perhaps a strong description.:D
This might be the first codies game I'll play since TOCA '98.

This is the Codemasters that I've been missing for quite some time now. What took them so long?!

Looking forward to more gameplay footage, as well information regarding the track and ar list and the career mode.

Doesnt really look like a 6 year newer game.

Cockpit looks pretty dam fine though. Great FOV.

I'm thinking this game must have been started quite some time ago, quite possibly even before GRID 2 was released. I can't think of any other reason why they would announce a new game so soon before it's release and also releasing it on old gen. It surely has to be an 'old' game.

I have to wonder if they started this first after GRID but then somewhere a money decision was made to also start on what actually was GRID 2. Now they've finished this game up and putting it out before moving on to a new project, on next gen.

Could it be a "second route" upon GRID2 development? Maybe even a "rejected concept"? So they failed with GRID2 and well, the other one was the right one. Anyway, GRID2 had some stuff I liked: the tacks. The point-to-point routes are some of the best I've seen. Big Sur - California was outstanding. Hope those are in.

Glad to see they coming back to their roots. The gameplay feel smooth and the racing feel incredible. Also, i'm very happy this is on PS3.

Looking forward to this.

The "original" GRID for the PS3 was the best career mode I've played. If you wanted to do touge and drift, you could. If you wanted to do racing only, that was pretty much possible. I thought GRID2 totally lost the plot and online was just torture. I've got a ton of respect for CODEMASTERS, so I'll be buying this and hoping.

Nice, I've got GT Academy from now until just about when this new GRID comes out.

^ my feelings exactly, looks promising, I am interested, going to wait for more news and announcements before deciding to buy or not...but I'm liking it so far 👍

Overall, I'm now actually interested. There's not too many devs that'll admit they screwed up so for them to do that AND make perhaps the game that Grid 2 should've been, Its definitely a step in the right direction. For now, Codemasters has actually gotten some of my faith restored in them 👍

A little more information regarding the 5 different disciplines:
Touring Cars - packed grids, trading paint, race weekends
Endurance Racing - long races, night races, tire wear
Open Wheel - precision racing, standard spec, slipstreaming
Street Racing - aspirational cars, tight city roads, aggressive racing
Tuner Competitions - car upgrading, time attack, pro drift

About the Career:
the single-player career mode allows players to choose their own goals, competing in non-linear fashion across as many or as few disciplines as desired. The object is to get signed by increasingly better teams to drive better cars, but other than that, the racing is the focus. Competitions can range from two events to full seasons of 16 races, and the practice and qualifying sessions on race weekends are optional.

Within races, drivers can get real time feedback from their crews, order teammates to help them and use a flashback mechanic to rewind time and fix mistakes. A variety of difficulty levels and driver assists can be used to tailor the on-track experience to any set of preferences.

And finally the online side.
For gamers looking for online functionality, there will be 99 levels for each of the disciplines that will constantly have things to unlock, with around 30 to 50 hours of content here alone. Cars will also need to be maintained, and with enough miles under the hood, there may need to be a decision about whether to run a powerful but fragile vehicle or retire it to the garage for good.
