It's been a few years since I played GAS so my memory is rusty, but IIRC the BMW is the fastest car in its class. The rule of thumb can always be broken if your opponent is an alien though :lol: As for racing lines, it looks like you can use a bit more road width on entry to T1, otherwise everywhere else is pretty much perfect 👍

Well I didn't know which one was fastest so I took BMW and all other fast guys took it too so it's really weird that thing with that Honda dude. I wanted to take more road on that 1st corner every time but every time I do this. It's just that if you brake too late and take it narrow, you can catch little bit of sand inside the apex that will slow you down and actually make your corner faster. Idk really..I took all the upgrades off, I'll lower the car and give it one more go before event ends but I don't see doing 48.6. :(

edit.. this is the setup I used when I did 49,0 + 4/5 upgrades were installed :banghead: (I still really don't get this things with upgrades 🤬)

edit2.. tried one more time.. seems like I didn't caried enough speed in last 2 corners.. specially the last one.. Did 49,001 and am 1st with BMW, 2 Honda's in front

edit3.. I know what happened, he used other car on T1 to bump into, it happened me accidentally and I got 2nd split 0.5-6 faster than my best so I guess I'd do 48.4 but I failed to avoid another car.. Am done with that because dont want to chase the cars to bump into them to make me faster..

edit4.. had only half an hour to play, and yes.. bumping AI was unfortunately way to go.. Finished 5th out of 145..Not bad but am little bit angry about this game :banghead:

lost to 1st by 0.289 but lost at least 0.4 on final corner of my fast lap.. Now I'll have to play until I beat them in some other event :crazy:

Managed to do only P3 out of 150. whatever, will go for P1 next time.

Figured it out...the Switch edition has the Sprint maps too. It’s funny I’ve only played career, but the game has so much more than I expected.

Reading another thread about the Xbox 360 version...did the Nintendo Switch get the Sprint tracks DLC too?

I've been enjoying Grid Legends, so I've picked up the 2014 game Grid Autosport which surprisingly is still up for sale on the Xbox store (usually licences run out for licensing cars in driving games). I already have it on PS3 disc, but not previously on Xbox.

Obviously the Xbox360 graphics have dated a lot, but the handling model and core gameplay still hold up well.

It's a 7GB install - how I miss those days, especially with the "tiny" HD on the Series S!

Even more surprising, the servers are still up, and the 5 weekly events (1 for each category) are still running. There are approx 11 times currently listed for each event. Obviously, they must be set events which continously cycle round at this stage, I am interested to find out how many weeks are in the rotation and will keep playing them as this week's were a fun mix.

I hope they keep these events up and running for a while yet.

Looking at the DLC, which ones do people recommend? It looks like the Touring Car one (with the 2 new tracks) and the Sprint one are the best ones, the others seem to just be new cars.

Servers are still up?

The Nintendo Switch version barely lasted a month before it was impossible to enter and they never bothered fixing the problem so its now locked off.

I never brought the DLC on PS3 but the Switch version comes with it. I really only used the new tracks.
 
Aaaand it has been delisted on 16 March with no warning (to my knowledge and from what I've read on TrueAchievements site) - I'm sorry but that is rather poor and has probably cost Codemasters a few DLC purchases as, with warning, people would likely have picked up stuff before it was delisted.

Lucky I bought the game and the two extra championship dlcs when I did!

I had planned to buy the other DLCs soon, but now cannot, so that's atleast £40-£50 in revenue lost from me alone.

Sorry about the tone of my post - its not about the delisting itself (not a massive surprise for a 10 year old game obviously) more about the zero notice which is never going to be impressive.

Also, Racenet Challenges seems to be down on Xbox as well the last week. @PJTierney is this intentional/permanent? Are you able to ask please?

I note the online lobbies still appear to be up, so this might be the last chance for a :gtpflag: online event...

Last week I asked IT about Racenet connections in Xbox 360 games and they said they’re investigating. There’s no intentional server shutdown at the moment, probably just a security certificate needs updating so hopefully back up soon 🙂

Uhh, anybody here willing to gift their copy of 2019's GRID? I totally missed out on the delisting deadline and now I'm stuck with the extra DLC content but no base game, haha.

Great game. Wish they'd make a really realistic GRID game, kind of like the Dirt Rally 2 equivalent of tarmac and circuit driving.

@PJTierney Thoughts?
 
If you have the Switch version of GRID Autosport, some bad news.

GRID Autosport is having compatibility issues with the Switch 2. Which makes transferring your Switch 1 data to Switch 2 a bit of a dilemma as it might render the game unplayable and there isn't any other good car racers on the Switch.

Last week I asked IT about Racenet connections in Xbox 360 games and they said they’re investigating. There’s no intentional server shutdown at the moment, probably just a security certificate needs updating so hopefully back up soon 🙂

Some good news, I tried this morning, took 2 goes but got to the Racenet Challenges 👍
No one on leaderboards yet, trying to spread the word that they're back.

In slight positive news. I found out the Switch port got a patch so its now playable on Switch 2 via backwards compatibility.

Still the only good car racer Nintendo fans have, so at least they aren't left high and dry again

March 2026 was an error, November was always the correct date.

The reason is that a bunch of legacy Codemasters titles are on old servers that are being decommissioned.

I guessed old servers might be the reason, they don't last forever and obviously there's little value in trying to move those games onto newer ones after all these years.

But how you get the dates wrong by 4 whole months... that's rather a big oopsy by someone....

If I were to guess, some other EA games were getting sunset in March and somebody copied the wrong cells in a spreadsheet or something.
