I know that feel.
Just don't get psyched out. Think of the potential comicon wild card cosplays. PEOPLE DRESSED AS PONYS AND BATMAN VILLAINS, FIGHTING FOR THE CHANCE TO BE THE NEXT GT ACADEMY SILVERSTONE FINALIST! AND STOP... HAMMER TIME!
And...

The Flash
Dick Dastardly
Sonic the Hedgehog
Some random character from Initial D
Ricky Bobby
Lightning McQueen
A Hot Wheel

Seriously, if there was a chance for a wildcard, I'd go. If nothing else, I'll learn something by having aliens all around me. :)
I'm so miserably close to a .0-.1 but keep shooting myself in the foot. Full car length ahead, me "I got this" ghost- "lol SIKE"!
That's why I try not looking at it. Once, I had pulled half a car length away from my ghost after the second overpass when I took a peek. Told myself in my head not to screw up. Guess what happened at the next corner. :dunce:

I'm nowhere near as fast as the top guys but last night I turned off the ghost and the map (too tempted to look for the arrow) and I finally got into the 31's by doing so. I truly believe not worrying about where my ghost was enabled me to stay calm and run that 31. Before that, too many times I was ahead of my ghost only to get nervous and screw up a corner or two.

Try it.

Good advice.

Edit: Was looking on the internet for hotel prices in San Diego. My face at the time =

Then I learned that one of my cousins works for Comfort Inn hotels, and and he can get me a room for $40 a night. :D

Is hotel fare not included in the prize package?

It is for the finalists.

Obviously I'm not eligible, remember? ;) Have to get there and stay there on my own dime. Getting help for entry into the event. 👍

Forgive me if this is a painfully dimwitted question, but why are you going if you're not eligible?

Just in case y'all haven't noticed but I'm seeing this ending 6/24 23:59BST. I don't know what that equates to in American time depending on what coast your on. Just thought I'd point that out. Forgive me if everyone already knows and has done the calculation.

Edit. I got that from there fb page. Not the NA one though. So take what I say with a grain of salt.

Gah I was running a 1:31.1 (34.4 sec at the start of the curbing on the second straight) lap until the second to last corner. Ended up with a 31.7. GAH!

It says one day remaining, which seems a bit early considering it will be over in 2 days starting at 11pm tonight

I read those also. But it also says 1 day left in game now also. Like I said take it with a grain of salt. But I would be prepared for it to end tomorrow night. I know that's how i'm looking at it.

Maverick beat me to it.

Gotcha, I hope it does end tomorrow, I know if I was on the outside needing more time I wouldn't be saying that though, such a tight competition.

I'm on the outside right now and have to work tomorrow and naturally its storming really bad here and the electric went out. Guess I can only go uphill from here. By my calculations it will end around 8ish tomorrow. That will give me a solid 4 hours if I don't get my electric back tonight.

Wow. I can't believe how many people are in the 31s right now. I got a 31.971 on the second day and now I am 150th in the US and 1100th in the world.

If you go to the rankings in the quick menu on 8-5 it says 06/10/2012 18:00 - 6/24/2012 17:59 in the top left corner. If that's translating into my time zone, it'll end Sunday at 5:59pm CST.

After paying closer attention to my times as I cross the start/finish, I realized the time it shows on-screen when it briefly freezes/pauses (like it does every lap) is ALWAYS 0.027s lower than what registers on the right-hand side of the screen (and what ultimately gets submitted to the leaderboard). Admittedly, 0.027s isn't much, but depending on your rank, that could cover several places. As it stands, that's enough to separate 33rd and 32nd. I'd be furious if I missed out because I got screwed out of 0.027s.

I've heard of other players experiencing the brief freezing. If it's consistently happening to every single player, it's fair game; however, if it's occurring to some but not all players, that's no good. Can anyone confirm that the freezing is not regularly happening on their system?

Actually my 8-5 Rankings menu says 6/10 16:00 - 6/24 15:59 so ya it's translating the time into my west coast zone. I've got the next several days off so it's time to get busy. I set a 31.9 last week, worked, and then last night started in again and set a 31.702 for 77th in US so far. I hope I can string together a clean lap, I see the cut off being .2xx. I've already got a blister on my hand so I'll bandage up and keep on keepin' on. Good Luck Y'all!

Oh, wow. The ONE time I checked my 31.69 ghost is when I was TWO car lengths ahead of it coming into the final corner. Naturally, I blew it. :(

Just got my time down to a 1'32.145 after laps before I screwed up a guaranteed 1'31.xxx lap.

I know that feel. I screwed up a 1:31 lap time twice, lol.

I'm probably not going to make it in the top 32 at this point, unfortunately, but will keep trying to the end to get a 1:31 lap time.

...San Diego? that's a 2 hour drive from where I live, damn, would've been great to compete with some of you. :dopey:

Hopefully next year (assuming there will be a GTA next year), I'll have bettered my GT skills and be able to keep up with the top guys. 👍

Im hoping my times holds up because im coming to realize my wheel seems a little funny. I think it might be on its way out. :grumpy:

This happens to me almost every time. I know when I crossed the line on my .208, the clock said .18x, but it did that brief freeze. I'm not complaining, and if this is happening to everyone or if the clock is actually off a little then fine, but that really is frustrating.

I'm hoping my time holds up, I'm currently in 14th with a .203...

After catching up on the last 5 pages of this thread, I'm guessing it's safe to assume that Nationals will be in San Diego...if so, not much of a trip for me, I live 12-15 minutes from Petco Park and the Convention Center :P

Will I be able to get a limo ride at least? Parking in downtown is ridiculous and expensive.
