Just did 2:17.503! Was fastest in the world for about 2 minutes and then some italian guy has done a .490 :grumpy:

Also, I'm the fastest from México ATM with 2:21.135, I think I have a spare second out there, it's pretty hard to finde the correct braking point at dusk 👍

GT academy should have the "hardcore" mode that was mentioned in an interview with GT6 SCEA producer. This way, heated tires will take longer to cool down and can't be abused by drifting it around often.

Kaz, why did you forget to turn on hardcore mode .... :grumpy: It's GT Academy ...

Lol congratulations this must be a great feeling but I must correct you on something though. REsuperG is not some Italian guy. His name is Enzo Bonito and he is a driver in the iRacing Driver World Championship, and is doing quite good there. Maybe I didn't get some sarcasm you had in mind while writing this though! Great job again and keep pushing so maybe for the first time it's not "that French guy" who's gonna win the competition!

I did my first 2'17 a couple of hours ago, but it sure is tough to keep up with the leaderboard.
 
Great times Bandit, Spurgy & Wes 👍. I've got some catching up to do when I get home from work haha! I would say if you can see a 17.1 now your going to be talking high 16's by the end. I would still say a 17.7 maybe a bit less at a 17.5 for qualification for the UK still.

No worries with the videos guys by the way, glad you enjoyed them 👍 I've got another 5/6 uploaded today of all the relevant stuff (My broadband must be on fire by now as I live in the country so internet speed not the greatest :P!). But I'll get as much out as I can :)!

Well done and way to beat Ti-tech! 👍 I'm catching up to you now. I'm only 1 second behind in 137th. :sly: Also, it's nice to see IMMORTALPILOT try this out. He's currently the fastest German, 14th in the world. Very good for someone who only races F1 cars! :D

Edit: Well that didn't take long. Ti-tech is back up front with a .476!

Obviously he is very fast, I've just never heard of him before :) At least I had 3 minutes and 31 seconds of glory before I was knocked off the top! :lol:

Thanks :) It should be a good battle with Ti-Tech 👍 I think pace in GT5 is irrelevant, it's a more realistic and different way of driving now, much more like finding the limit on a real race track 👍
 
Hey guys, first time really taking GT Academy seriously as I finally got myself a good racing wheel. Currently on a 2:20.0 after being stuck at a 2:20.6 for a few hours (between last night and this morning). My biggest loss is through Stowe corner, its so hard to take it quickly, and as a LONG time F1 fan, I expect that turn to be super fast and only like one shift down haha, so its hard to go from 6th down to 3rd and blast out quickly. I'll keep aiming for you top guys!

I've been keeping it in 4th gear through Stowe. Hard to get through there with the bumps without unsettling the car.

Edit: Great lap R1600Turbo! Just saw you choose different gears to alot of where I'm oversteering, interesting.. haha. That was a smooth, smooth lap.

EDIT: Just watched his lap, I don't think we will see much under that, whether a 2:16 is possible, I don't know but his lap looked very smooth and no missed apexes 👍

Yeah on 2nd gear corners I switched up to 3rd as quick as I could so minimize oversteer and wheel spin. It may be costing me some time, but I use a DFGT and it's hard to get those pedals to work properly. :crazy:

I won't be doing any of the sliding around like the top times, so my goal is to get the cleanest non-sliding lap possible.

Thanks for the tips! Im on a DFGT as well, and shifting early has been helping my laps be alot more consistent. I'll break the 19's in a few laps hopefully :dopey:

I thought the same earlier, but kept making mistakes and getting red laps. One of those laps was a 2.19.6 so I sort of got in the 19s but not really since I did cut one corner a bit after I got the red for barely anything. My current time is only a 2.20.5 too but a 2.19 is easily possible if I can get it right, I will try again tomorrow.:)

Not that I have a chance at getting in the academy or that I'm eligible in any case. :lol:

Have you watched Ti-tech's lap? He doesn't slide at all 👍

2.18.6xx at the minute, putting me at 21st place in the UK. Surprisingly competitive already considering it's day 2. Losing a lot of time on that slow left hander to Ti-tech though. I noticed you short shifted to 3rd on your lap Bandit, is that equally as quick as 2nd in your opinion?

If you take a shallow line through the corner then 3rd gear is quicker because you can get on the power earlier and the engine doesn't bog down, if you take a tighter line like Ti-tech then 2nd is quicker, I'm struggling to get the car to the apex though at the moment, I think I need a break from it, I keep messing up turn 3 and 4, I can beat Ti-tech through turn 1-2 by about a car length though 👍
 
I need help mad help with cornering I'm currently 93 in the uk and I seem to be stuck I have problem it's like the top drivers are almost sliding into the corner rather then straight it doesn't make sense help :'(
