Our very own GTP_Sphinx has posted a lap time of 1:21.278 and remains TOP of the GB/IE leaderboard, congratulations to him and all other GTP members in the top 20 representing, and of course all other GTP members from other regions.
I myself have just been pushed out of the TOP 20, as I'm typing
I'm not sure I've got much else to give, but as a true racer ,I'll keep trying.

Wow, those germans are flying!
I was in 6th at the end of Tuesday night with a 1.22.9, went to bed and didn't check till late on Wednesday night when I found I'd dropped to 40th! Unbelievable how fast people are going already. I can see all top 20 times being in the 1.20's by the end of the 7 weeks.
Those with a pad, I would seriously advise the purchase of a steering wheel - even a 2nd hand DFP off ebay or something. Can't imagine how hard it must be driving the car with no pedals.

ive just signed up but dont get anything when i go online i have a uk i.d but a japanese game. do u think this will cause any problems?

I'd be very surprised to see this. Check any of the current and former road course time trials, and you'll notice a pattern: The top 10 times have a half second spread. The next hundred have a one second spread. For each country, I'm guessing you'll see the top 5 or 10 somewhere in the 1:20's, with the rest of the list in the 1:21's.

Hmm, perhaps. But bare in mind that in one day the 20th place is half a second lower than Tuesday's 4th place. I think people are really trying for this, whereas before it was a select few who did the online time trials (at least to the extent most will be competing in this).

Can I suggest this thread gets moved into the GT5P Race events section and an extra thread is created purely with the purpose of showing the running leaderboards from all regions viewable to all? I think we have players from most regions and someone could maybe compile all the top times for everyone to keep track of whats happening and where

Agreed, the thread is 12 pages long already and we're only 2 days into the competition.
Um, what is the point in that? Is it possible to get a lower than showroom tyre? Which GT tyre represents the showroom tyre?

Think of it like this.
s1 would be a 350z stock tire, which is a F 225/40?/18 R 245/40?/18 potenza.
These are a summer tires which provide good traction in the warm weather. If you were to put on a cheaper tire maybe you would fall into an N3 (I imagine N is any tire below a performance tire) and N1 being a really cheap economy tire, and perhaps having a smaller width.
One problem, though, is that real life drift cars use much better and usually wider tires than what the Z comes with stock (so I would imagine s2's SHOULD be one of the best for drifting if this is the case), yet n2/n1's are still the choice for drifting in game, the physics can't be right if this is the case.
(The one thing I hate about GT Is you cant actually buy different tires with different widths and aspect ratios, that would make a big difference as tires are one of the more important parts on a car..)

Right, I'm down to a 1:22.3 lap now and around two hours ago that was good enough for only 26th! The top 20 barrier is roughly 1:22.1 at the moment. I'm not doing badly to say I'm using a pad but at the end of seven weeks it may not be good enough...
I've found the best tecnique for me is to download the ghost of the 10th placed driver (no use downloading Sphinx's time as he'd be too far in the distance to follow
) and get as close to that as I can, allowed me to knock another three tenths off my previous best today.
Well done to all GTP'ers so far, there are some awesome times in that top 20!

Took another tenth off my best following Sphinx's ghost (nice lap by the way) but no improvement - still third. I'm usually up 1 or 2 tenths after the first half of the lap but always seem to lose it in the second half. I think it's just a matter of putting the laps in until a good one happens but I think it's going to be tough (for me) to go much faster than 1:21.150. Getting better with the wheel now though so you never know.
Agree it would be good to get the top tens up somewhere so I can check whether I'm getting sniped while at work!

what a struggle this is..... 1'24.136! that's all I can do using my controller, graping 14th in my region 
seems like there's two types of racing going here, the G5 racers and the controller (pads) racers... apparently it's a G5 racer who will win this
