I posted this over at the PS.com forums (http://boardsus.playstation.com/playstation/board/message?board.id=granturismo&message.id=113066 )

I thought maybe some of you folks would know the answers:

Guess the cars on the covers. All the other covers are pretty easy to guess the car, I think.

And we should all know the GTConcept and GT4 cover cars...

Hmmm.. My guess for the GT1 cover is a '95 Camaro, and for GT3 is either a 987's or a 996's front headlight (or RUF's in this case).

GT2 is a Mclaren F1 I beleive.

The blue GT3 (sold in stores, not in the bundle pack) is a honda accord i beleive, if i heard correctly

and GT1 i would say a camaro

the cover of NAs GT3 was an acura cl (or tl?)

I think the GT1 is a Honda NSX.

The GT2 (NTSC) I think is a McLaren F1.

No clue on the PAL version.

The NTSC GT3 is some sort of Acura (I thought RSX), but JRizEj6 is probably right.

And the PAL version looks like it might be a RUF RGT.

Also, word is that Kaz actually owns each car that has been on the GT covers. If GT2's is a McLaren, I wonder why they put that on the cover, when it's not even in the game. :grumpy:

👍 This can be found on the back of the GT3 booklet:
"Thank you to American Honda Motor Co., Inc. for use of the Acura CL Type-S for the package front."

yes, GT2 is a mclaren. Center Seat (can tell from view) 240 MPH Speedo (not many cars with that!)

and you can tell by the steering wheel shape (what you can see of it.

Now .. where exactly do the lines of the Corvette match up?

Look at the nose of the car. On the GT1 cover, the nose of the car has a curve to it, which is not anything like the nose of the Corvette, which is flatter and more wedge-like. It is a Camaro on the GT1 cover.

*Apologies for the large picture*

I don't care what anybody says, that model Corvette (C4?) kicked ass. Espcially the ZR-1.

Whoops. Sorry for going off-topic.

SO, what's number 2? I know the menu for one the discs is a S2000 hood, but what's the cover? S2000 engine?

Yes, it most certainly did. My uncle has a C4 ZR-1 and, oh boy, does that thing fly. It won't hold a candle to the new C6 Z06 however.

Menu for one of the discs?

GT1 was without a doubt an NSX. just look at the notch in the rear end of the car. not even close to a camaro. its not like a camaro would ever make this games cover anyway.

The hood looks too long to be an NSX

The notch on the backend of the GT1 cover makes it either a vette or an NSX, add to that the long nose, its a Vette. It looks its curving down because loko at the cover in the front, its windblown outwards and doesn't match the lines of the vehicle.

The Us version of GT3 looked like a Honda Civic Hatchback

that is the stubbiest nose ive ever seen on a vette in my life. u can also see a slight crease where the rear wing of the nsx is along with the cover being blown into the scoops on the doors under the side mirror. american cars also have lips on the bottom of the front fenders because most of our cars are front engine. this car obviously does not since u can see the cover wrap all the way underneath it. ITS AN NSX. did we forget where this game was made. and this was before they cared what the US thought of them. this is the first one.

Check out the credits in your GT3 manual. It says clearly "thanks to Honda blah blah blah..."

Thats is a 2nd gen Acura CL.

To me it looks like a Skyline R34 GT-R on GT1. Makes the most sence to me, knowing the creator of GT is an avid GT-R fan. And what would you put on the cover of a (by origin) Japanese game: an American car or a Japanese one? :dopey:

The car headlight shown on the GT3 cover is a upside down Porsche 996 headlight. Or in GT's case: a RUF.

The engine shot is beyond me though... :odd: :boggled:
and the other shot can't be viewed...

More likey an RUF, since they're in the game. If PD didnt get the license to include the car, they're not gonna put the car on the front cover... also, its not a 996, its a 993. The 996 has the smaller side indicator part further up the nose, with a gentle S-shape curve along the bottom edge of the headlight unit. The key is to turn the case up-side down (or your head, but thats a lot harder  )

Further proof in that the RGT and 3400S in GT3 both have the 993 headlights... (it could even be the RUF 3400S on the cover then?)
