But they do it in real life. They use the road course, you know. :)
I do know, but I really don't want the Daytona track to be a 24 hours race.

There is little to none elevation changes, and it's a short, very short track.

But if it's in GT6, that's fine. :)

Several hundred? No way. Only about 80-100 hours of A-Spec driving. And yes, fast forwarding would be an option for B-Spec.

How many times did people repeat the Indy 500 in GT5 to level up? I know I must have beat it 10 times to try and level up to unlock the Vettel challenge. Giving a larger variety of races is only ever good and helps prevent grinding

The idea is for the A-Spec mode to last a couple of years and not become dependent on stupid seasonals

THIS, PLEASE THIS. I completed GT5 GT Life in about six months, while I have still don't completed neither GT3 or GT4 GT modes.

Well, I really haven't completed GT5 yet, because I have only 34 level and I only wanna do the 24 Hours of Le Mans (I hate the seasonals to much so I'm to lazy to get experience) I think I'm going to win the Suzuka 1000km, but that's not the point.

Here is another design, much simpler than the current GT5 Design and my other design.

I love your concept and idea... the colors used are nice too, just don't remember me much about GT... but this can be good and refreshing after all those years.

I think a redesign must improve what we have from GT4 onwards... I would not want a NFS-a-like or Forza-a-like menu for GT. I don't like how PD haven't used a map this time like it was on GT4, GT2, etc... I miss it.

Definitely my favourite design so far, really simple, clean look and feel. Lets just say I wouldn't say no to that design concept for GT6.

It would be great if we could choose our own images for the background, or maybe have a slideshow of all our photo mode images.

Ill try get a few ideas of my own on here when I get a couple hours. But great work guys!👍

Thanks Brad.:)

I like this one also. Its easy to read and get around on but, being able to change the background is a must.

I like this one a lot.

I think a menù like the GT4 one with all the races will be perfect

Agreed, I loved the layout of GT4!

Agreed, I loved the layout of GT4!

I also liked the old map, it felt like really having a career. A little refreshment and I would also like to regionalise all tracks, but to which country original tracks would be aligned:

Deep Forest Raceway - United Kingdom
Apricot Hill - Australia
Trial Mountain - Canada
Grand Valley - Japan (?)

GT5 Prologue's menu was perfect. I'd love to see it return.

Less driving maybe but they would still take 24 hours to complete unless they allow fast forwarding as well. What is the total time for those races, must be several hundred.

Would be a 120 hours in total

I miss the road map menu's (not made by me)

One of my favourites so far. Very old school design, reminds me of the PS2 era of racing games. And in the community page, is that MGS art at the bottom right?

Thanks :D and yes that is Eva from MGS3 which is currently PSN avatar. Used it as an example for what the user profile button would look like.

*Uh...I don't like my own entry...that, and I have the worst design posted here so far*

Let's see...I guess it's my turn to submit something?

For the GT Life menu, I went for a bit of a nostalgic cross-PS1/PS2 feeling. I think I nailed it here.

picture.php
Ehh, did you randomly place them? Because I just can't get a proper overview. There's also no help in the background in form of a map or similar to make it easier to find something.

Do you have a GT4 copy? Please turn your PS2 or 60gig PS3 on and check how it was there.

That still looks like something designed for a mouse or touch screen. Icons all over the screen just doesn't make sense with a controller as input.

You didn't like GT4?

Visually it was a nice idea but navigation wise, not really. You have to aim the stick in the rough direction you want to go and hope for the best. I prefer something more precise.

I mean on that one above, say i'm on 'my courses' and press up. Do I get to 'USA' or 'Speed Test'? What about moving right from 'Polyphony', which of the three to the right do I actually land on? It's good for a mouse or touch input, not a d-pad or analog stick.

I always used the d-pad in GT4, wasn't too bad actually. But yes, I see your point, it was also a bit irritating sometimes.
However, I personally really loved it.

I find GT5's GT Life menu suffers from this problem, too.

That's where the analog stick comes into play. Instead of jumping from one icon to another, I would have had players move the stick in the direction they wanted the pointer to move. The pointer would move in that direction, and certain icons would light up when the pointer hovered over them. So the pointer would move to the left if I pressed left on the Analog stick, or the D-pad. Say you're at "Dirt & Snow" and you want to go Home. All you need to do is move the stick left, and your home should be highlighted. So in summary, I'd rather have a menu where, if there are lots of icons of the screen, you can move the pointer freely rather than jumping between icons and not knowing where you'll land.

Simon, I think this might help.

I regret deleting both the map and the psd of it from my computer now that I think about it...

I personally think a mouse pointer would be much worse.

I think the whole touch pad/mouse pointer thing is getting overblown. I could easily say these oversized icons look like they were designed for a touch pad or mouse pointer. As long as a menu screen has uniformity, I dont see how it couldn't work with digital left/right up/down controls.

console_004a_003.jpg

Not really because moving between those with a pad is very, very simple. Left or right. If you push left or right, you know where you're going to get to. There is no up and right a bit, no down to the left then down a bit more. When you start throwing icons all over the place it's a lottery of where you're going to get to.

They could just add an option so you could use it like a mouse or like how it is now.

To be fair, this is the main menu of Forza 4, not the career menu. As such it doesn't have to display nearly as many menu options or as much information.

The designs that were posted thus far are really good, and I'm gonna give it a shot myself. Bit of an odd hobby but I like to do this sort of thing in my free time :)
