Ahh, another GPL addict. :) What a great game. My GPLRank handicap is -55 or so... hasn't been updated in a while. I race online with a group of fellas most weekends. So much fun!

Hello Cudaman,

excellent drift video...made me think that I was watching a real drift video. I have a 93 Nissan 240sx fastback and I do drift in real life and thats what makes it even more fun in GT3 =) But I was wondering what was your settings for the 240sx fastback in the game?

cool guide. I got a couple questions.
I got use to drifting in GT2 and just started drifting in GT3. did anyone else find it harder in GT3 or do i just need some more time?
CudaMan you are the drift king, any plans on making a gran dorifto III???
Last question whats GPL????? is it a game??? ya got a link????

thanks

Hey SQ_Xcon, nice choice of cars. :) I wouldn't mind having a 240sx, I think it'd make a great drift car near stock, all I'd need to add is some suspension and LSD.

In GT3, I have different settings for all my Silvias (two S13s, two S14s, and an S15). They all work well in their own ways. Something like the FC RX7 settings I have on the guide would be a good starting point.

wishendriften - I found GT3 harder to drift with at first too, but with some practice I got used to it and like it much better now. I think it's more realistic than GT2 drifting was.

I do plan on making a GD3 video, not sure when I'll be able to do that though as I work 45+ hours a week now. I have all the footage I need, I just have to put it all together.

BTW one favorite new drift car of mine is an MR-S with 276hp, sim tires, LSD, and stage 2 weight reduction. Everything else is stock. It's quite stable and easy to get really far sideways. Fun!

once again, you have simply amazed us all with your fabulous work Cudaman!you keep this up and I think Keiichi Tsuchiya himself will want to meet you =D

AE86Driver

P.S. those of you who don't know who Keiichi Tsuchiya is,he is known as the......DRIFT KING!!!!!!!!!!!!!

yea yea yea, i kno....seen some of his vid's ^_^
i have one where he shows all of the ways to start a drift....don't wanna list cuz i'm too lazy....
o, i also have a vid of him driftin in a stock S2K (S2000) and RX-7 FD

It is now! :)

Jordan!

You like totaly reek of awesomeness!
:)

Now hopefully our "drift related thread" problems should be solved.

Also I think we should start posting our drift settings in this thread!

You can see how odd my FT0 is set up.
Also it would be good to have all drift discussions in this bloomin thread.

well i've been giving drifting a go, read this guide - good work cuda :P but i'd like to know peoples sprinter setups, i assume its the easiest car to drift seeing as its in every drift video/drift thread and you can pretty much drift it with stock settings, but wahts the best for the job? mine atm are ride height up to full, acm - 5, tcs - 2, sim tires all round and then just playing with the gears, but that doesn't matter too much.. anyways, post yours, thanks

hmmm odd.. cause when u drift, u don't want traction or acm at all. since those things prevent u from losing traction. btw, how many hp is the Shingeno Ver 86? and u got anygood settings? (this includes Cudaman too)

On my 86 I use sport suspension, 1way LSD, sim tires and NA stage 2.

The RX-7 settings works well with the 86 also, but it'll be a little sluggish to control, imho.

Sorry fellas, I don't have any AE86 settings on me. They got erased when my card was overwritten months ago, and I haven't built a replacement Shigeno Version since. I remember basing the settings off my FC RX7 setup though, for a start.

Actually to me the AE86 is harder to drift smoothly than a lot of other cars. It's a challenge.

Mith - turn ASM and TCS off completely... those "aids" are evil. :) They prevent traction loss at the rear wheels.

Nice to see the thread has gone sticky. :)

Don't think I haven't dreamt of such things... :p

and also can u give me some feed back? thnx man

I have an almost stock AE86, with just weight reduction and simulation tyres. It seems to drift just fine in that form, a light car is a fast car.

I agree with cudaman that the 86 requires a more precise aceleration control than most cars do, but almost any setup should work decently with with. Basing the setup on the FC is a good idea, I've done that with almost all my cars(exept for the Nissans which I have a particular setup) and it works real fine.

I like to use sports suspensions on my 86 because you can really see the weight transfer on the braking and cornering. I know this isn't a good thing, but it looks specially cool on the 86. :)

You can always see the weight transfering during cornering on AE86`s even with the racing suspension, but probably not much as stock. Its odd though, my 150bhp AE86 is allot harder to control than my 270bhp fully drift configured altezza, although my altezza needs a bit more tweaking, maybe changing the toe of the car to help it oversteer a bit more might help it.
