Wouldn't it be cool if gt4 had a mode where you could trail through water and mud like you can with a normal 4x4 is real life? Although this would mean adding a selection of 4x4s like Landrovers and Jeeps.

If you bother checking the master car list thread and not spamming the forum with new threads, you'll find a selection of 4x4 vehicles being in the game.

The strange thing is that PD tested some jeeps and Land Rovers in Japan.......

If you bother checking the master car list thread you'll notice none of the 4x4's are either in screen shots or confirmed to be on the game.

Yes they are, for example, just the other day there was a picture of a Range Rover posted that was made on the test area of Polyphony Digital. Just take a good look, and use the search function.

And there also is an edit button, do you don't have to double post...

it'd be kinda cool to put 4X4s on those off road test courses that automotive magazines use. But acutall racing with 4X4s don't REALLY interest me

I was only only suggesting it would be cool, not that it's actually going to happen, nor that i need to be proved wrong!

And if you would actually READ before you open your mouth, you wouldn't sound as stupid as you probably look!

Read his first post over again..and ask yourself...'is he looking for pics of 4X4's or is he merely stating how COOL it would be to have a OFF ROAD COURSE TO DRIVE! and you just might find the answer!

But because you didn't read the post completely...or you did but you couldn't fathom what was being asked...I give to you the ID-10-T award....Sorry!

I would like to have a 4x4 course where you have to drive through rough terrain without knocking over some strategically placed poles. That's a really nice idea, although I'm not sure if you can manoeuver your vehicle as precisely as neccessary with the given hardware. And people with a big screen or even a video beamer would have a huge advantage over the ones with a tiny old tv.

Anyways, I really like that idea and would love to see that on GT5 rather than some other new stuff.

I think PD should keep GT the way it is. The game is about racing, not off-roading. And racing SUVs isn't my idea of fun.

I'd still like to see the game engine licensed to other developers for making alternative simulation games. 4x4 being one of them.

I did read his post. I replied to the fact he said "this would mean adding a selection of 4x4s like Landrovers and Jeeps." He would've known these kind of 4x4's are in the game by looking at the master car list thread.
I was also pointing at the search funtion, as there are a lot of other threads on off road races aswell. He could've posted this in one of those threads and we wouldn't have to look at yet another senseless thread.

Don't just go badmouthing people or you won't enjoy your stay here. Oh and the caps lock button is located at the left of your keyboard. I suggest you keep it turned off, stay away from those 2 vicious shift buttons aswell.

Sounds intresting. Does it come with a trophy? And I can I get one? ;)

Well, there are some off-road cars coming anyway, so why not put in an 4x4 obstacle course? PD constantly puts in new stuff (like B-Spec & photomode), so why not something like this?
(I'm not complaining about B-Spec or photomode, so please don't flame me about those.)

i mean, ofcource i want 4x4, but how big is the chance it will be in the game. I was supposed to hit "no" button, but after some thinking, why should i say that. its like saying "do you want 30 extra cars in game - answer "no" errr.

Have you paid attention to the colours? So far neither Land Rover nor Jeep have had any model spotted in screenshots, nor were they mentioned as being playable at TGS. You don't know if they're in the game or not. If we went by your logic, then since Porsche and Ferrari are also listed (in red), they must be in the game too.

As for SUVs being in the game... I'm kind of indifferent. I don't want them to be of great importance, but seeing as how lots of them, nowadays, are nothing more than raised 4wd wagons, I can't see a reason why we shouldn't include them. I wouldn't turn down an X5 4.6iS. I've had lots of fun with a hybrid Legacy wagon in GT3; big American V8, 4wd, soft suspension, and maximum ride height. Great car to toss around 👍

... And how would a 4x4 track be raced on against other cars? Or is this a rally?

Either way, count me out.

Well, I quite like rallying and would like to see more of it in the game. some rougher courses and a few 4x4's would be a nice addition to that mode. something like baja 1000 style events. Those vehicles are very rugged and have a lot of ground clearance, but there still designed to go fast. It'd be nice to have some of those and the trucks in the showrooms there based on, to race with as well. although there nothing alike. Take for instance the baja toyota tundra race truck and a stock tundra. (the tundra race truck is mid engined.)

Off-roading is a type of racing. Plus the world doesn't just consist of cars and sports cars. They need variety. I was starting to get bored of the game when they just totally excluded the SUVs, and trucks. I'm rather happy they're including some.

Is the rally section not "off road"?? Hello?
We're talking about off-roading, which differs greatly from rally.

I'm fine with the inclusion of SUVs, but against the inclusion of obstacle courses and such. Instead of those, PD could spend the time making the tarmac physics more realistic, and including more real life race tracks such as Le Mans. After all, this is Gran Turismo, not 4x4 Evo.

P.S. You're complaing about variety? Have you played Gran Turismo? I haven't found a racing game with this much variety in a while. Before GT, racing games were based on a particular type of racing, now you have games like TOCA 2, Enthusia, etc.

Please stop creating all these pointless spam-like posts and polls.

Maybe you should look up the term "Gran Turismo"...

So please stop...

Variety in my opinion is all cars. Of course not something like a 1940 Ford but I mean as in types of cars. Unless PD has changed it I do believe it says "The Real Driving Simulator". Driving includes trucks and SUVs. Also practical cars not limos. But trucks and SUVs are practical vehicles as are cars.

Exactly my point.

And the last time I checked, the name's game was Gran Turismo, which means Grand Touring.

I wouldn't mind seeing a few trucks and suvs and some sort of obstacle course with the same great graphics and physics of GT4, but maybe in another game. What I would like to see are some 2wd trucks that I could do up pro-touring style, LS6's, sachel link suspensions, and the like, but lets save all of this dreaming for gt5 or some other future game.

Did I say anything about the name of the game? No. I said the slogan.

Umm, what you did, is say the slogan out of context. It says Gran Turismo: The Real Driving Simulator. Which means it's a real driving simulator of the grand touring scene. The more types of cars PD puts in, the less of a simulator it becomes, because PD has less and less time to spend on perfecting a certain type of driving.

At the rate they are going next game if there is one im sure there will they will have plenty of time to add and improve.
