GT4 Engine sounds: downloadable samples

You know in prologue, the Sl55 AMG have this automatic transmission sound when it changes gears....Why does't the RS6 have that? It had it in GT Consept...Wierd, cause it would have sounded so much better...

This is one thing Im hoping made it back to GT4. Even the SLR has a distinct auto shift that needs to be in the game.
 
i'm disappointed that the SVT Lightning doesn't have supercharger whine... If any of you have ever driven one or seen videos you should know what I am talking about.

Beetle sounds awsome,

M3 was VERY disapointing.

Sounded nothing like the real thing. Sounded more like a Skyline to be perfectly honest...

I hear straight 6s everyday (my dad has 2) and that M3 is way off 👎

I am extremely disapointed.

NSX-R was quite good and so was the S2000.

Maybe PD put in a bunch of new Euro cars into GT4 but didn't bother to do them right? :grumpy:

There's another person who said the car sounded dead-on to an M3.. isn't that odd now. And it does sound pretty close to a vid I have of an M3. The only difference was that it didn't rev all the way up to the redline before shifting like is common in the game.

I don't think all in-line 6's sound alike, either. Unless your dad owns an M3 specifically, that's really no indication of what it should sound like. I'm sure we could come up with dozens of different-sounding V8's and in-line 4's, all unique. The M3 is no doubt the same.
 
I think these are great sounds. Thuogh I haven't heard those in real life, but they are much better than in GT3 imo. In GT3 every car had very similar sound and that wasn't nice.

NFSU2 has way better sounds, but it's a rubbish game. I think the sounds in gt have improved pretty much, so I'm pleased with 'em

Yeah, I understand what you're saying, but I don't think they could have added it. If they were to add the charger whine, I don't think PD could have made the rumble so authentic. It sounded great! But, like you, I miss the charger whine.

Thanks for adding the GNX! Sounds great, and I can hear the turbo!
 
As much as I like these sounds, I do have to agree that NFSU sounds better (and I don't even have that game, although I may get it at some point).

PD needs to figure out what EA's doing with their sounds, maybe for GT5. Or, hire away some of EA's sound designers. That probably wouldn't be that hard, considering what we've heard about EA's treatment of it's employees. :)

I just watched an old Top Gear with Tiff driving the M3 and I listened to Shirakawa's mp3 side by side and it sounded nearly identical, the idle note and the entire rev range. I agree that some of the GT4 sounds are really good and others aren't nearly as accurate (from what I have heard, like the C5R)
 
at the lower end of the rev range on the M3, it sounds authentic but at higher revs it just dosnt seem to fit the bill.

Sorry I just have to disagree, the M3 dosn't sound authentic at top end.

Sorry, no Group B rally cars, no Audi quattro.
I do not have yet the Nike One car.

I've got a few videos with it in.

Theres the Tiff one I have, I just watched the listened to the roaring straight 6 several times with my eyes closed and its just not the same in the game.

I also have a motortrend video.

Its about 29 megs, is there a place where I can host?

Its of an E46 M3 Convertible, but they have the same engine and same exhaust system (i'm quite sure) so its comparable:)
 
That TOMs Surpa sounds like a monster. Great to see that it sounds slightly different from the Woodone Supra from Prologue. I wonder if after a turbo upgrade a car will have a BOV as loud as one the Delta Integrale had in Prologue.

The Mustang sounds great, the DB9 is sort of ok... but hofefully when you sit next to the tv a bit better.

SL55 (or 65) and RS4 would still be great to hear.

DB9 is average. I might be nit picking on a lot of the sounds by the DB9 only sounds ok.

Perhaps it may be different when we get the game and WE have control over the throttle, etc etc. :)

The SL500 sounds sound quite different to GT Concept 2002.
I've only heard the SL500 at low revs before in actual recording or real life so don't take my oppinion seriously on it.

But in Concept AND GT4 the SL500 sounds weird, maybe it just is :sly:

About the SL500... I hear one every day and this is totally not it! It rumbles and growls IRL!!?! This is a ***** sound?!
 
yeah I was thinking it sounded rather artificial in GT Concept at higher revs (but good at lower)

GT4's SL500 seems to have ruined it completely

(again, for those who actually have experience with it in videos or in real, ignore what I am saying if you believe I am speaking trash)

Btw, may I just add that with the sounds of the SL500 unveiled, it seems that the auto-shifting is back from GTC 2002
 
Indeed, that's a good thing... but then... why don't the CL600 or E55 have it?? Or the RS6?
IMO this is a huge error in the game!
