GT4 Engine sounds: downloadable samples

Why does the GTO soundclip I posted sound so good then, if its so impossible to get justice through clips? thats all -it- was. Sure with a good 5.1 setup and a sub it will sound decent. But its still gonna be that same sound just with more 'omp. *heads out to walmart to pickup NFSU2*

Sorry to correct you however I must point out that the Pontiac GTO is in a higher state of tune.

Its rated at 350hp and the Monaro CV8 Series 2 is 235kw which is roughly 320hp.

Is the exhaust responsible for the 30hp hike or are there any other differences?

Leo, I'm not sure if there are other slight modifications but the more free flowing exhaust should make make 30hp, it's just because Australia is more strict on the noise level laws and that's going to be even more strict next year? or at least soon

From what i have heard so far from these clips, they are about the same as before.
Underground 2 sound is awesome and very inspiring, and make you want to drive more and more and some more. Its very good earcandy, while all the GT games so far have had poor soundeffects. Maybe next time they should leave the soundengineering (and rally) to another team?!

And what about that new view? Hoodview finally? My god, that is just 3 games too late.
 
Im gona buy NFSU2 within this week, sound wise i personally dont think itll be better than gt4, you all might disagree, but we'll find out when we have both games,
i was wondering does any of the gt4 owner have a copy of NFSU2?if some one does, we can ask them how both games compare (sound effects wise).
 
Forza and NFSU2 have the upper hand in audio. It just feels much more lively in each game and really boosts the driving experience and gets the adrenaline going. GT just dosent have it. Feels weak. It is a Phenomenol (sp?) game otherwise. There is no thrill in downshifting from 4th to 3rd at the max. torque curve, I should be hearing some major "vromm" and roar, but instead its just the engine going to a higher rev. Its just too subtle.
 
play GT prologue, using DFP , hook it up to a good SOUND SYSTEM..and its amazing, THATS DRIVING EXPERIENCE. AND IT GETS THE ADRENALINE GOING.
and thats no lie.
 
Wow that Evo II with the racing exhaust sounds fantastic! Very realistic. I think all of these cars sound much more true to life when tuned up slightly. I love how much better it sounds with such a little change!
 
You can't get a good sound experience from a normal stereo setup! C'me on!

Buy yourself a 5.1 dolby surround system!

Now that I think about it, that SRT-4 clip sounds in-car. SHIRAKAWA Akira, is it possible to get a sound clip from the exterior of the car? Thanks!
 
Well the PS2 doesn't exactly have a lot of memory to throw at sounds.

16bit 44khtz sounds take quite a bit of memory, especially since you need 6 sets of sounds.

I'm sure PD had to make compromises etc. Wait till the PS3 hits me thinks :sly:

I wonder if The woodone supra has the same engine sound as it does it GT4P, i mean that engine sound is so damn Militant, ealier i was Ripping that Beast around Tsukuba and citta di aria without traction controle, with the DFP set on full force feedback,
at the end i was exausted!
 
i have to disagree on the thought of gt4 having crap sound

first of all, i have to admit that nfsu2 has amazing sounds; whines, gear changes and bassy engine noises come together perfectly.

however, look at the new lemans video and how can you say, with the sound of going 320mph+, wind rushing past at warp speed and the engine at breaking point, that gt4 itsnt realistic and amazing? it simply took me back and if you have a good setup, and the volume turned up, it is astonishing.

believe me, i have nfsu2, and imo, gt4 will be better. period.

It apparently is not a PS2 limitation ^ (nfsu2 GTO clip above from PS2) Just P.D either being lazy or simply there just is not enough space on the disc for all those files for real sound so they just use a synthesier (sp?). Its gotten better over GT3 of course, but it is still lacking quite a bit compared to the competiton.

I don't think most of you realize that these are compressed sounds, and that they probably don't do the game justice?

Come on.

I was so impressed with that Supra on my Japanese GTP but I don't know if I imagined it but when I got the PAL version it didnt' sound anywhere near as mean, I wonder if the GT4 one sounds like the GTP Japan or PAL, hmmm

Waow!the Volvo 240 really sounds like....crap(My 240 dosen´t sound like that)or any 240!
Why can´t PD get their enginesounds right?(Even the Corvette still sounds like a householdmachine)

"McLaren SLR", that picture's Audi is Quattro Sport S1 from Finland's rally 1985 drived by Hannu Mikkola...
