I must say, that Beetle sounds spot on!!

but the others...not really THAT much better than GT3 IMO. The muscle cars need to be deeper...not as Asian.

I think they will sound better when hooked up to a DPLII sound system. The NSX-R really sounds like it was recorded under load.

I want this game more than anybody, but I have to say that NFSU2, yes, NFSU2 has better engine sounds. NFSU2 sound effects:

1) ...Better replicate the sounds of the exhausts.

2) ...Better replicate the sounds of the various forced induction systems. It's the only game with turbo and BOV sound effects that I find 100% satifactory.

3) ...Don't have any of the "videogamey" artificially high pitch problems of 99% of racing games. It sounds like a real car from idle to redline.

4) ...Have lots of "punch." NFSU2 is the only game to give me goosebumps taking a car through the revs for the first time. The first time I heard the turbo'ed 350Z that you run with in the beginning of the game, I was blown the eff away.

5) ...Perfectly emulate the imperfect-ness of the sound of a car going through the gears. Best simulation of the behavior of the revs during an up- or downshift EVER.

Again, GT4 is probably going to be a many times better game... but I can't let my fondness for GT blind me (or make me deaf, in this case ;)).

OMFG that Cobra 427 sounds so awesome! So does the 454 SS Chevelle. I love listening to the cam when they idle::drool:

Great Job!

I agree with the dude up there about NFSU2.

The 2005 Mustang on the dynometer OMG, it sounds amazing, and those big smokey donuts and burnouts woohoo!

Too bad the game sucks :yuck: 👎 :grumpy:

The VW Beetle was spot on as well. But that's not really hard to replicate. It has a distinct engine idle.

Would love to hear a stock wrx / sti. No game yet has captured the subaru boxer burble accurately .. underground 2 comes close but its still way off. I read in a car magazine that GT4 was supposed to have real engine recordings in it?

I agree. GT4 seems to have improved on it's predecesors in just about every aspect. Sonically speaking however, they do tend to sound just a tad bit too "synthesized" (IE: Record the engine at one pitch, then simply bend it electronically.) As a filmmaker and sound designer, I will agree that the sounds of NFSU2 do simulate the engine mechanics more authentically than in GT4. Hopefully PD will have studied EA's NFSU2 sound design techniques and utilize them in future sequels. While NFSU2 sounds great and is fun to play, it's still in a completely different league from GT4. Below I have provided a few links from NFSU2's engine sounds for those of you that wish to compare and contrast.

Pontiac GTO

Lancer EVO VIII

Nissan 350Z

Yep - would love to hear the Subaru Impreza WRX.

Holden Commodore SS...McLaren F1...Merc CLK GTR...Ruf 'Yellowbird' CTR...Honda City Turbo

Damn bro, it may not even be close

The GTO sounds ridiculous in the game. Everybody needs to download those...

To be completely fair to GT, the NFSU2 sounds like they were recorded from outside the car behind the exhaust, not inside the car which is closer to how GT sounds, in most V8's (that arn't 30 years old and have no rubber seals left : ) ) you can hear just as much the air induction and gear whine as you can the exhaust note

Oy, the Cuda sounded horrible(even if it was real) compared to the Cobra 427.

Ok, I'm doing some more recordings in the order they were requested. Check out for news in the first post in the next minutes.
