Can anybody w/ a NTSC disc confirm for me that both the CATERHAM FIREBLADE & the NIKE ONE can be raced against a single AI opponent
on the Nürburgring in Arcade Mode.
This is definitely possible on the PAL GT4 disc, or at least one example of the disc. Just trying to gauge any versioning differences.

I have a stupid question that definitely doesn't deserve it's own thread. When starting a race, or running tests such as 0-400m etc do you have your finger on the gas before START appears or as soon as it appears. I assume one way or the other you'll have a quicker acceleration at the start, which is it or does it vary by car?
I noticed when I was re-doing some of the License tests to achieve Silver that in one of the races at Trial Mountain you start on a uphill slope and the second time I tried to beat it I had my finger on the gas before START appeared and therefore was redlining the engine and it approved my lap time by about 2 seconds.

Almost any car in GT4 has the TCS active by default. This means that when you accelerate too hard the TCS makes adjustments in order to give the car maximum acceleration. If the license test has the TCS active then hold the gas down before the start, if the TCS is not active then hold the revs at a lower point. It takes practice but it will help with races that dont do a rolling start.

It needs to keep the enzo out as it is a waste of money, get the Maserati MC12 though.
I think also we would new car update pack you can put on your MaxDrive and update the cars on the game.

Auto Modellista,in my opinion,wasn't a waste of money.Although I did only pay €8.99 second-hand......
It was a fun game and you could make some nice looking cars too.Much too short though.I'd say a time of six hours is pushing it,you could probably get through it in three or less.

SEGA GT, the first one, it had the Carzorria, as you progressed through the game you unlocked new options, parts and body styles to use, it was limited and very expensive to build a car compared to buying one with similar performance.ultrabeat

I started playing Gran Turismo on my first second console (nes clone was first 
) I've loved it and all, but time goes by, i've only played GT2 little bit, as it was almost like first part. I totally missed GT3, only played it once on friend console.
Some mounths ago i bought DFP, mainly for PC simulations, but i had chance to test GT4 on friend ps2 with DFP have some thoughts about this great game, don't look at this as whining, rather things that bother me and haven't changed from first GT. Ok lets get to the point, there was so much hype how good the game is, its named Real Racing Simulator, so how the hell something named like this don't have:
- clutch
- cocpit view (it's more like Bumper or Hood Simulator)
- damage model (i know know thats because of car licenses but still, i miss more damage model then some cars)
- physics model - its all good to the moment when you crash on something, then it looks totally unreal.
- not sure about this one but i think there is no rubber paths on track, where you have better grip because of rubber left by cars (ok thats not most important, but its part of real life driving)
If you want to see how all this looks in action but without real cars and tracks, try Live for Speed.
I even think GT4 have better car handling then LFS, but lacks of these things spoil overall image of this almost perfect game

A lot of that is down to - yes - licences and the sheer stupidity of the PS2 (comparatively). The damage is a particular bone of contention - at first it wasn't included because Honda didn't want to have their cars being beaten up, and more recently it's not in because it just can't be simulated accurately enough. The lead programmer/creator of GT has been quoted as saying that the typical crash in Gran Turismo would result in the cars ending up in pieces maybe 2 inches big, and the PS2 just isn't bright enough to do this.
And, as you would expect, the PS3/GT5 should have all of these features and more, including things we've never even thought of. And probably have none of them and end up 17 months late.

yes, its very true indeed. the suzuki escudo could in GT3, be tunned to 1846 HP, but in GT4 it can only reach 1043 HP!! thats over 800 HP LESS than in GT3!!!

you could try to win the second rallyevent a couple of times, the pricecar is worth 265.000 cr. and it takes 5 minuts to complete the two races. speaking of wich, i did it 23 times in a row in a 2005 Subaru WRX Impreza, and earned me enough to buy the Audi R8, plus a fully tuned rally car, and it only took 2 houres...
