If any of you are interested in some short video clips on gt4, check out http://www.gamespot.com/ps2/driving/granturismo4/media.html

or

http://games.kikizo.com/previews/ps2/granturismo4.asp

The first is a clip of the polyphony digital dudes wringing out some cars (all japanese sadly:() on the Twin Ring Motegi course in Japan. Worth seeing if you havent, and the second is a link to kikizo's latest preview of GT4, the most complete I've seen so far on game news sites. It also has some downloadable videos at the bottom including the offical trailer and a "warmup clip" from the conference in europe. The pit crew animations are AMAZING! And on a Fort GT40 no less! Anyway, bear in mind that kikizo's servers are pretty slow so be patient. They also have a 10 minute interview with series creator Kazunori Yamauchi posted somewhere on their site, with some tasty info. Namely: GT4 is the last Polyphony game on the ps2, and there will still be NO damage modelling whatsoever in the Gran Turismo series. Enjoy

Hey peoples,

You reckon there are gonna be aussie cars in gt4? Like Ford Falcons, Holend commodores etc. Wouldnt it be funny to see Geminies in the game?

Also , i wonder if anyone has heard or seen anything about Nitro being introduced in the game?? (like in fast and the furious..push a button and zooooom)

i hope there will be as many non-japanese cars as possible. there wont be any nitro though. so don't hold ur breath.

I love all cars, including the Evo, Subaru WRXs, and Skylines. ...that being said, I don't really see the need for 700 different versions of the damn things. Lol :) How about a few key representatives of each type, and then move on to the next type. :D

We need more "strange" cars. Old, strange cars.... like the Cosmo.

i saw a post up there, saying "i cannot wait for GTC to come to america"

thru im a yankie too i've got GTC from a friend in europe, and GTC isnt not that good;)
1. you cannot tune the cars, with all the exhaust and stuff, sports brakes, none of this can be done
2. you win cars (some 50) by completing Course licence, Single race and nothing more!! :banghead: boring!

And besides, GTC is not coming to north america anyway.

I have a question... since GT 4 is going to have so many cars, tracks and everything, won't the game have long slow downs since so much stuff is crammed into the DVD?

nope, don't worry about it. it wont have THAT many more cars than 3... so u shouldn't notice it. besides better programming may mean its faster.

compare the loading times of tekken 2 and tekken 3 on the ps1 and u'll see what i mean

The coders are very good at what they do, dont worry, they can get the job done with enough of an compromise...

 ???????????????
only 3 times as many and at least double the tracks.

Dont worry it shouldnt matter too much even if the disc is full, if its mapped out correctly, pulling stuff of the disc wont take any longer than usual.

I think u'll find its going to be a two DVD-ROM set like GT2 was anyway.
well i doubt that, dvd's can hold a LOT of info. and cars dont take up that much space to be honest. they could always remove the music, i have it all turned off. cause its crap! :( but thats another topic...

I thing GT3 took up over 90% of the DVD, the PS2 DVD's have around 4GB on them so it might be on 2 DVD's.

As for the music I think most people turn it off but PD will never take it out of a game.

He's right it is going to be a two-disc set, just like GT2. It's strange, but it seems like GT has come full circle: GT1, one disc, introduces the gran turismo series to ps1, less than 150 cars; GT2, bigger and better in every way, 2 discs, more than 500 cars; GT3, introduces gran turismo series to the playstation 2, one-disc, less than 150 cars; GT4, bigger and better in every way, 2- discs, over 500 cars. And about the whole taking-up-space-thing: the big issue is not the amount of cars, but the amount of huge, hi-res racetracks that really consumes all that dvd space, and the second disk is going to be an arcade disk separate from the simulation disk. Sound familiar?

somebody told me that gt4 is scraped for north america is this true.. it better not be thats not fair i just got to know that there are gonna be some sweet muscle cars in gt4. this is a huge damper if true.

You don't really have to disk swap, you have one disk with the sim mode on and the other has the Arcade mode, almost like 2 seperate games.

Too bad the upcoming PS2 Hardrive isnt going to support GT4 (which would have been awesome). I cant wait for GT4. There will be animated pit crews this time (which I thought was really cool), and special events (using historic and classic cars), there is going to be so much in GT4. Im going to play it all day ;). Too bad that the projected release date was winter 2004 (though that could change, as things can get ahead of schedule)...

HEHEHEHEHEHEHEHE!!!! I can't wait to Drive the 70 GTO Judge on Trial Moutain or Leugna Seca hehehe.. but then there is the front wheel drive 455 tornado.. hmm 70 formula 400 so much muscle to choose from now oh well i'll probably have em all the first couple of nights i have the game :D

hey thanks man... so i'm guessing that it'll be out over seas about a monte later or does it say anything about being ready for christmas? cuz i can't read that  sorry:D

i heard a rumor that there will be a playable preview of GT4 at the Tokyo Motor Show this weekend. I'll be there this Monday, and I'll be sure to post some stuff afterwards. I'm SO psyched!
