no. RUF is a company that modifies porsche's. like amg modifies mercedes, alpina and racing dynamics do bmw's, koenig do ferraris (and others), etc. ruf change the brakes, suspension, interior etc. in fact i think they just order the body panels from porsche and spray them themselves. so they offer total conversions. much more so than just sticking a spoiler on the back.

as for maserati. the same guy owns maserati, ferrari, fiat, lancia and alfa romeo. (actually the guy may be dead now, giovanni agnelli?) never mind. the point is that EA owns the right to use the ferrari name. it doesn't matter who owns the company. even if sony bought ferrari i doubt they could incorporate the ferrari name into a game before the contract with EA ran out.
 
I went into EB Games store and saw a box titled GT4 and sprinted to it. It said the release date was January 14, 2004. I'm happy it's not too long. And the GT4: Prologue Edition coming out December 4, 2003. I'm getting the Prologue Edition fa sure. Prologue Edition features 4 or 5 tracks and 50 cars. Hope to be of some help.

Don't get your hopes up, it will be more like summer 04 not January.
 
bad news, no prologue edition is coming to either europe or north america. sucks dont it? and all sources point to a january release, not summer. PD arent the type to delay multiple times.
 
PD have never announced a Jan reease date, they have hinted at spring - summer time release, it was the media and shops that created the Jan release date.
 
Sounds like another half life 2 situation, shops sticking to the september release date even when it was obvious it wasnt gonna make it! Stick in there peeps, we will get our GT4 fixes soon enough :)
 
actually it was valves fault for insisting like stubborn jackasses about the september release date. too bad for them though. and I'll put this clearly for those who dont believe: Polyphony was SPECIFIC about a "winter" release. They were hoping 2003 but they just didnt have the time. So its either jan or feb 2004, not summer. (although it's possible that it will get shoved into spring)
 
I know the last post on this was ages ago, but project gotham racing has porsche and ferrari signed onto it. So i douibt either will come to GT4 unless Sony is willing to pay (a rather large) contract penalty to the makers of project gotham racing
 
It's EA that own the licences, MS have paid EA to let them use thoes cars.
 
I hate this licencing issues, can all game companies can work each other out? In a fair manner. MS and EA are to insecured with themselves that they can't beat Sony-PD when it becomes to racing-sim games. Thats why they're keeping the 3 Exoticars selfishy so Sony-PD can't get their hands of it.
 
alot of companies do that, not just EA and MS. Would be nice if all games could use any cars they wanted ofc but that's not the way it is. It's called business, I'm sure sony and PD would do the same if they had the ferrari license, coz i certainly would.

About all that GTC talk, screw that game there not working on GT4 cause there working on GTC, IMHO GTC can kiss my a$$, I WANT MY GT4!!:mad: all i know is that i have Madden '04 and Socom 2 keeping me busy til GT4 comes out.
 
socom 2 kicks much ass. plus theres tokyo extreme racer 3 that just came out. i know its a hit or miss depending on your point of view, but i think it rocks.

GTC has been out well over a year, and if you mean GTP then thats not taking much time away from GT4 as it is GT4 just with less of everything.
 
Wal- Mart has gt4 in stock but cant sell it until the 7th of january my friend went to preorder it and he begged them to sell it to him but they said it was against store policy

Either wall mart is lying, his friend is lying or he is lying GT4 isn't even finnished yet. And it won't be out as early as 7th Jan.
 
Theyre liying if they said they already have the game in, cos GT4 is not finnished yet and that is a well known fact.
 
Or maybe its like how they sold the air jordan shoes. The send the shoes to all the stores in the entire world. The stores keep the shoes in their store room for a while and tell people they dont have it. Then on a set date, all the stores sell it to the public.
 
But whats the point in PD giving out unfinnished copies of GT4, thats what my point is, GT4 isn't even complete yet.
 
I can assure you guys that GT4 hasn't come in yet.....because I work in the electronics and games section of Toys R Us and quite often, we get games early with a specified release date on it

Like for PGR2.....we had that in our backroom for about......2 weeks before the release date

and GT4 for sure isn't in yet......but ppl are saying the tentative release date is Jan 2004....

hrmmm....I just checked the EBworld online store site, and they say that they're shipping in GT4 on April 30th, 2004!!

I dont' know if that's true or not.....but I sure hope that ain't true...
