KY's going to be losing fans if he keeps pulling this ****.

Did I miss the press release that said it was KY's fault, or even his idea? For all we know, it's a screw-up by Sony, that happened after Polyphony delivered the final product.

The idea came up in another thread that Sony, not knowing ahead of time the exact completion (gold) date of the game, neglected to make advanced bookings at the DVD-pressing facilities, and now they're scrambling trying to get the game manufactured.

If that's the case, I fail to see how it's KY's fault. Most of you guys are forgetting there are two companies involved here. Polyphony and Sony. Polyphony only programs the game, it's Sony's responsibility to manufacture and distribute it. If they dropped the ball on their end, it has nothing to do with Polyphony. While they did mention last-minute tweaks and fine-tuning, do you really think Sony would publically announce that they screwed the pooch on manufacturing? Or would they gloss it over a bit by claiming to make the game "better", when we all know the game was finished what.. two weeks ago?

So, since we simply DON'T KNOW the cause of the delay, it's hard to point fingers.

well said.

But it's easier for a lot of people to point fingers (myself included). We're only human, and whining on a message happens easily when you're upset.

Preordering GT4 August, 2003: $5
Purchasing the DFP for use with GT4 July, 2004: $150
Purchasing the game because it's comming out in less than a month November, 2004: $45

Investing $200 in a game that will probably support a different wheel on a different game system: Priceless.

I just hope people get fired for this.

I just cracked up reading that. You're joking right?

"Treason I say"?! Jeebus, some people are further gone than I've realised.

I am glad I was able to make some one laugh in between all the doom and gloom. It was meant to be funny.

I am pretty far gone when it comes to GT3.

I have seven PS1 & PS2 Games, GT1, GT2 and GT3 and the four Medal of Honour games.

I always go back to my GT games when I finish the latest MOH title.

I was supposed to get GT4 for my birthday present Feb 04. Looks like it may miss 05 birthday as well.

I think the phrase I'm looking for rhymes with 'clucking bell'!

Still, on the bright side it gives me a bit more time to save up for a US import PS2.

Well it was funny. You sounded like cobra there for a second. :dopey:

You should try out call of duty. it's better than that medal of honor business.

We all have to seriously accept the fact that this game might not come out till at least April----at the soonest!! The article said "first quarter" which means they will use all of those 3 or 4 months for sure like they have been.

I have an idea 💡
Why don't we all go to our local Sony store and......form a protest/picket line??
I'll handcuff myself to the pretty girl working there, untill GT4 is released..or ..longer!! :trouble:

<sarcasm>New GT4, a game with cars... cars? ah! those machines from 20 centuries ago....</sarcasm>

Release date: 4004 (after christmas, of course...) :D:D:D

Of course we could all just buy an X-Box and never buy any PS2 non exclusive titles again.

Funny you mention that. The release date of GT4 being pushed so much is the primary reason I decided to tell my girlfriend that I wanted an x-box. Now I have one. So I could at least play Forza since it will probably come out before GT4.

Im pissed with this but im not gonna go taking digs at PD, you gotta admit as annoying as this may be we're gonna get a more improved driving game than the one we were gonna get before the delay. And if it wasn't for PD gt would never have been made so there would be no gt2,3 or 4. I'm sure theres a very good reason for the delay and i think its still worth the wait for the biggest and most realistic and generally the best driving game ever made.

Well I hadnt raced online for quite sometime. my PC just wasnt upto the job anymore.
However having recently hooked The PS2 to the World Wide web, ive recently settled into TOCA2, and all the fun of Online racing has come flooding back to me and re awakened my desire.
So no matter what, if Forza turns out to be half descent game, Im going to be stumping up the cash, and taking to the world.
After that im sure ill abandon my Sony for anything other than PS2 exclusives.
Id never felt the need to do such a thing before, but all the delays and lack of Online really has pushed me over the limit.

Im not even convinced that it willll not be delayed again, already missing the Big sale period, and extra time to work on things, then they might just have the urge to do a bit more, and then some more, until the game fits the next huge selling opportunity.

I agree 100% I absolutely love Toca 2(well for the x-box) Thats the game that got me into the x-box. 12 cars online and all the other options that have been listed before including damage, full chat, adjustable cars just make that the best online car game right now IMO.

I think we'll all be dead by then.

J/p. I know what you really mean.

I think a lot of you guys are forgetting that the delay was only for three and a half weeks. They can't add **** in three and a half weeks. Whatever further delays after the 28th of December in North America will be only for localization, and will probably take the same two weeks it was originally going to.

There will be no new features, no online, no added "bonus" stuff from the delay. Get over it.

The delay adds 3 and 1/2 weeks to the "set date", but now it adds up to 6 weeks instead of 2 weeks for the Japanese! In 2 weeks from today the Japanese would have gotten this game. It's Nov 19. 2 weeks=Dec. 3.

I'm sorry, but there better be a better reason than just the area for a game that was gold and to be released in 2 weeks. 👎

I thought the exact releasedate in the US hasn't been made clear.

And if localisation isn't taking up much time, why is the European release in february?

To release it in the US, all they have to do is translate approximately half the game into English (since so much of it is already English), and change the region coding. For Europe, they have to recode from NTSC to PAL, as well as translate the entire game into thirteen different languages.

While it's true that the US release date hasn't been announced, I think it's safe to assume that it will follow closely behind the Japanese release, just as originally planned. It's possible that SCEA is simply being cautious, and waiting until the Japanese version is done and in stores before confirming the US release, simply to avoid any more so-called "delays". With a general "Q1 2005" release, the Japanese version could be delayed for a further two months without "delaying" the US release.

Just a question... Why they bother translating to 13 PAL languages? I know, not everybody speaks nor reads english natively, but it is a seconde language anywhere you go in the world. Is EVERY single game translated to all these languages when gone to PAL region?

Don't ask me, I don't work at Sony Computer Entertainment Europe, or whatever that branch of SCE is called. But that was the official reason for the PAL delay in the first place.. it could be some sort of local law, that states that games must be released in the native language of whatever country it is. I would imagine the same holds true for every game.. after all, there's nearly always a delay between NTSC and PAL, with only a few minor exceptions.

We know GTA:SA was released in England, but was it released elsewhere in Europe? France, Germany? And was it still in English if it was released there? Or is it pending translation, due out in a couple more months?

No, they're not.

Of all GT's, only GT Concept Tokyo Geneva had the option for Portuguese in game text, for example. But GT4 Prologue didn't (both PAL).

Normally you'll have a choice of about 5 languages.

Going OT, but anyway. I really don't know the answer to this, but I think that it would be ok for a game like GTA or RPGs of any kind to be translated, once they depend a lot on comunicating, chatting, getting info, bla bla bla. But that would not be a reason for a game like GT4.

Even it if is in Japanese, you you see a icon of a tire, a checkered flag, this kind of stuff, you know what it means, reagrdless of what those crazy symbols say! I live in Brazil, so we have to import PS games, once SCEA is not oficially in Brazil. And I remeber quite a big number of people playing GT2 in Japanese, and getting away with it =]
