I think you'll find the problem is your using the samer pic which is perfect capture and the GT3 pics arn't perfect, everyone who's plaed GT3 knows it looks better than in thoes pics, I mean sure GT4P does look better, but the difference is small.

Am i the only who would be satisfied if GT4 looked just as good as GT3? I mean, just look at it. Its great! If it gets any better, hooray, but it dont have to get all that much better. Its nice as it is and since GT4:P looks even better then GT3, there are no doubts that GT4 will look better then GT3. The thing is, the feeling i get from reading this thread is that GT3 will look WORSE when GT4 arrives. I somehow find that impossible. GT3 is a betuiful game and thats it. GT4 will look (hopefully) even better. I dont think that the graphic will be the most attractive thing in GT4. Its a part of it, sure but not _THIS_ big.
My oppinions of course.

Is it just me or do the screenshots on this site make GT3 look like crap? i mean just look at this, it looks nothing like this while your playing.

No BAZZ your not the only one, I think GT3 looks fine, sure it' not the best but it's still way past the is it good enough line. As for the pics yeah the make the game look like crap, get some decent ones from IGN or anywhere with decent ones.

Most of the official GT3 pics are from different stages of the beta version, the only ones from the final game come from very badly captured pictures at different sites.

I remember this evo pic from the end of the Y2000 when GT2000 go to GT3, very early stage: inacurate enviroment mapping and materials, bland lighting, static weels(not blured), incomplete textures, etc (same as kev last pics).

May be some of the capture guys of GT4P can make a decent GT3-GT4P comparison with the same hardware and equal quality, but I think that's not necessary. Play GT3 and play GT4P, not the same... but GT3 still looks *very* nice today.

Even though GT3 still looks great, but of course GT4P will look a little better, PD is more skilled in useing the PS2 ahrdware and finding better ways to make textures better etc... But since I havent played GT4P I cant back it up 100% but by screen shots it does look better, but in the videos specially ffrom IGN I can tell GT4P looks better than GT3..IMO or course..

GT4 will probably look better...we all know that...just because the years have passed on in the series, and K.Y. is going to try and make it look the best that he can. But since the graphics are already sweet from GT3, the only huge difference I think there will be would be the backgrounds. Other than that, it's going to look similar, just with a few extra reflections and polygons.

Having played GTp and 3, I can say that the backgrounds in gtp are DEFF better, but not be the amount you imagine. They certainly arnt anything new or revelutionary (can't spell that, I'll correct it later, so sharrap).

I agree the backgrounds are amazing but after awhile you can care less about them. The track detail is what awes the mess out of me.

Track detail, do you mean track design, because the detail, although being better is hardly awe inspiring, the big plus is the increase in trackside objects and animations.

GT4s tracks are good looking, but I've seen better (in quite alot of games now). I think GT4p tracks are more aptmospheric then actually amazing looking. Most of them are bland race tracks anyway, where the only detail is the odd grandstand etc. The city tracks are ok, but certainly nothing new, nor amazing. The textures really need bumping up, and give it some bump mapping, and sort the pop up out. Meh, can't say it bothers me, but just making a point. The actual detail level is low.

(yes the car looks naff, but look at the scenery

see what I mean, this game is from like 4 years ago and on a dreamcast, yet the level of detail is still quite reasnable. OFC GT4 looks better, but the level of detail it self isn't really THAT much better on the city tracks.

Weird how this 4 year old game has a driver, skid marks, and reverse lights, yet gtp doesnt :( :( That bugs me more then any scenery worrys!

That track looks horrible and the tracks are amazing and awe inspiring and bump mapping isn't need imo, tracks already look detailed and realistic. I see a storm coming.

Bump mapping is ALLWAYS NEEDED. Bump mapping fricking rules, don't talk crap about it not needing it, EVERY GAME needs bump mapping.

What looks so awful about those tracks then? They have quite alot of detail, some textures arn't great (it is a dreamcast remember), but it looked pretty nice when running, and pretty authentic. I think you just can't accept that other games can look good too.

Nah, I know other games look better but who looks at textures when the game is in motion? It already looks realistic and that's enough, BM would just be a plus.

I wonder how good GT4 would look with PS1 quality textures...

Textures make a BIG difference in how a game looks. Bump mapping just makes the textures even better.

You made a point but I won't be less amazed or awed by gt4 for its, well, kind of bland textures. They look good, not amazing like pgr2's textures but they are good, superb but all I care about in its graphics and detail is the realism. I'm happy with gt4's ultra realistic look :D

I think this is the best post you've made, sure PGR2 has better textures, higher res ect, but the models arn't as good as good as GT's. As for the textures, they are what cover the polygons, you can't ever not notice them, but I know what you meant.

GT4's cars just have this certain quality about them. I'd say alot of PGR2s cars ARE better, like the ferraris, porsches, but some are lacking. GT4 is like, ummm constant in it's amazing quality of cars, from the bangers to the super cars, all have brilliant detail, and are super accurate, and have this certain "realistic" style about them. Which is why GT is ace. :D
