...okay, been out for a while, here it goes.

GTR isn't that great, not leaps and bounds better than GT4. If you talk about "balance" you can never know if you've never driven the car, so yea, keep speaking nonsense I suppose. How can you say a game is spot on when you've never driven one of the cars? All I said was that polyphony has worked their asses off, and that a professional driver from nissan got an extremely close time to his real life counterpart, that's pretty impressive to me, but to say something is "spot on" is a little...well biased.

How can you say GT might have flaws but make up for it in other areas, but assume that GTR does not? Again you would have to have driven the car to actually know. Some editor for a magazine who get's a playtest...knows not, he is doing his job, building hype and staying in good with the guys who keep him in work.

Forza is a GT clone, live with it. They took the idea, added some "visual" gimmicks, and then tried to run with it, the game will be a let down, I'm telling you this now, just because microsoft is doing what they always do, building way to much hype for something. This game is just a way to make money off you xbox owners who do not own a PS2 and have the opportunity to purchase a good racing sim...sucks to be you.

Not tryin' the make this into anything other than what it is (and some of you may and will criticize me on this, but, **** all that), but here it goes,......................

This whole GT4 vs. Forza thing sorta gives me a feeling that this is a U.S. games vs. Japanese games sorta thing. In fact, it sorta seems like a U.S. vs. Japan kinda thing, so here's my full take on it. Gaming is one of Japan's biggest things (second to anime), and it's the same here in the U.S. (second to cinema). However, in roughly five years, it's been said that gaming will become the biggest entertainment form in the U.S., surpassing cinema. Looking at the recession of the industry in Japan, it's probably still gonna play second-fiddle. That's one for the U.S. Now's let's look at the games in general being used in this battle. We've got Forza Motorsport for the U.S., and GT4 for Japan. They're BOTH racing games. They're both at the prime of they're genre type for their respective nation, and they're both trying to be THE best of racing games. Now let's throw some proven knowledge in the all this ****. Generally, unless it's a first-person-shooter or an RTS war game, the U.S. has ALWAYS lost to Japan in terms of having the best games, including racing. And gathering the word on both games from many a major gaming websites and gaming mags, it seems that GT4 will be the better game. That means GT4 takes the racing crown. That means Japan wins yet again. Keep in mind that I'm an American, not anti, just stating my opinion. So in reality, this whole GT4 vs. Forza **** is just one big ego trip. That's all.

umm yeah... sure. and if you put it that way with US vs. Japan then I and many will take Japan, they are reliable, well built and last. Maybe it's you who want's it to be an ego trip as that is THE biggest load of bull**** I've ever heard, seriously !!

PS Japans economy is rocketing so I don't think they're in any trouble in the slightest. Also you say the industry is flailing over there, umm no it's just you don't get any of the mad Japanese games that are way better than the US season sequels like FIFA, Madden, NHL, basically EA crap, Harvest Moon is quality, quirky but cool. Japan are the gaming industry professionals, they've grown up on it and even created it, the sooner EA goes down and people see the crap they put out the better, after all they always just publish games mainly yet you never see the developers mentioned unless you look at the damn box.

I guess I just hate EA is all not cause it's amercian but because it's ****.

that is a tremendous generalisation. I too was suspicious of the Xbox at first, but it has very good "in house" games, like Halo, PGR2, and other ports are excellent, like Toca 2, or Colin Mcrae Rally, etc, etc.

I have all three major systems, Game Cube, PS2, Xbox (plus a PC and a Game Boy Advance). It has no sense to hate any systems or games in particular, it only makes you appear as a silly fanboy.

This game is just a way to make money off you xbox owners who do not own a PS2 and have the opportunity to purchase a good racing sim...sucks to be you.

Congratulations, you just discovered for what are videogame companies in this market: to make money.

Get over it boys & girls: we are just consumers, let's get a real good time playing our preferred games, be in the PS2 or in the Xbox.

BTW, for me, the most interesting thing about Forza and GT4 is that they will be very different from each other.

Yes, but not to profit with half assed projects. The difference between Japanese and American Developers, is Japanese developers try their hardest to make something enjoyable and worth the money, while americans are more concerned with the quantity rather than the quality.

Look at it like this. Japan has DDR. USA Has what, britneys dance beat? Metal Gear Solid is to Japan as...Splinter Cell is to the US (although Splinter Cell is a good game, it's presentation and quality isn't as high as MGS IMO). Japanese. has GT4, and the US Developers are trying to capitilize on the popularity of the racing genre (import scene and exotic cars more or less) with PGR series, and now Forza. Forza will be a shiney new box with some bits and pieces, but I promise it will not have the quality and replay value of the GT series.

FYI Microsoft uses Japanese developers on just about every project they do, so I imagine the same will be true for Forza. Try pronounce some of the lead programmers names on any game!
Just because MS has its headquarters in US doesn't mean that everyone who works for them is American Same goes for Sony and PD!

oh...and is Rockstar Games an American company...I think they might be doing quite well at the moment...what was that title "Mice City" or something, with the cheese, you know.

I'm not having a go Marco, youve been fortunate enough to play Forza and make up your own mind, everyone else here hasn't got a clue and whats annoying me is that the second a GT chaalenger comes out they automatically bash it, check the last few pages and you'll see them saying crap like damage is a bad thing and not part of racing, yet GT4's photomode, what a marvelthat is. If I came across harsh sorry, I'm not in the best of moods today but I'll try and cheer up. Welcome to GTP by the way.

Damage is a part of racing...But when it comes to a game and it looks horrible , damit , do't even try to do damage effects into it. Forza has damage effcets but it doesn't look good enough. So that's why it sucks. If GT4 had damage effects and it looks like made by me I would say : Damit! This sucks!

Rockstar don't make GTA that's the job of Rockstar North who used to be DMA Design and are based in Edinburgh in Scotland. Rockstar saw how good GTA was and bought the publishing rights from Take 2 Interactive or they were renamed to Rockstar, I can't quite remember.

Damn that's a nice muscle car list, but I think GT will do fine with that. I also took a look at a few vids at IGN and here's what I think. Forza has a beautiful course and cars, but I don't like the physics so far because it's not done yet. Nice find Kinigitt. Check out the car going in the tunnel.

Actually, Japan's gaming industry is in recession as of now. People just aren't buying as many games over there as they used to.

EA is garbage, but that is a seriously harsh and ignorant generalisation about Western games.

Lots of fantastic games come out of the west, and lots of crappy , unoriginal games come out of Japan (you wouldn't want to see their top 50 sellers list, trust me ) and vice versa.

At E3 this year, almost all the big hitters from Japan had at least one action game with a random dude holding a big sword slashing stuff up. Likewise the Americans crank out FPS games like crazy (the FPS market is actually almost split 50/50 between US and UK). In between, there are a lot of innovative and well-made titles however. You just have to look instead of thoughtlessly dismissing American game developers.

The Sparco Evo VIII is a beast as well. I read a comparo in SCC and it is truly impressive. Somewhere between 400 and 500 whp and a wickedly tuned chassis.

anywaaaaaaaay... kinigitt I wasn't saying EA is the Western front for gaming what I meant is they are the biggest yet all they mostly do is publish and take all the credit and snap up any young and promising developers and make them part of the EA collective. Look at Burnout 3, I've heard the EA ads and 25ft Tiger Woods banners are irritating as hell and almost spoil the game had it not been for the amazing playability. Japan is a totally different market that's why you see some crazy titles but give them a chance and they can make you see what all the fuss is about.

First the EA banners make no difference to the game, NONE what so ever. Secondly about 80% of games from japan are crap, they are hardly kick ass as much as you make, the US, UK and other countries have games to rival and beat many games from japan. The only japanese games released here are USUALLY the good ones

I think Japan makes better games overall, but other countries make good games too. And EA doesn´t suck. Some games like Fifa Soccer do, but others like the NFS series are very good.

Its just you have some Japanese games that have no competition, like MGS, Silent Hill and others. The detail in those kind of games is something only Asians can do right now. But then again, Japan would never come up with a GTA kind of game, or a FPS as good as US does.

Listen man, if you like super turbo school girl fighter, you just keep saying it's not crap, thats fine, my point is that japan isn't any better then any other country when it comes too games. Games like doom 3, riddick, burn out 3, kotor, halo, half life, splinter cell, ut 2004, fable etc, stand up to anything from japan. OFC the good games from japan are superb, I'm not arguing that at all. Japanese companies produce some of the best games, but some also produce some scary scary wrong and crap games.

How do a few banners effect anything? Many games have em, no one moans that fifa or wipeout games have em When your doing 200+ mph sideways, you don't really notice.
