GT4 vs Forza [Let the battle begin]

Gran Turismo is a game. A video game. A video game that is balanced for playability above harsh realism to ensure sales and critical success. IT IS NOT ****ING REAL DRIVING. It is not a niche market hardcore sim either. Accept it, embrace it.

Indeed, it's all about the big $$, They have to be sure that it sells. Offcourse i'm not the only one who would like to see GT 4 become a hardcore sim........but it will never be "THE REAL DEAL" :grumpy:

Just saw the new vids for Forza on IGN 👎
It looked good in the "must see" video that Front posted...but it was hiding a lot cause it was dark. The IGN videos are clear and show the game as it supposed to be seen. It looks cartoonish and arcadey...the collision looks cheesy too. It's a good sim for Xbox w/ clean graphics but doesn't compare to GT.
As for the whole GT not been a real sim, everyone needs to get off it already. GT has the perfect medium that makes it fun and realistic at the same time. They know what they are doing...that's why they set the standard for racing games.

GT isn't known for its excellent collision...everyone knows this already. But right now everyone is hyping up Forza's damage and flipping and all that other crap...it doesn't look that great. Burnout looks good...$hit I like crashing in that game =) There's nothing exciting about the crashes in Forza...at least from what I have seen in vids.
 
the crashing is just an EXTRA gimmick. People really don't seem to want to know how this game handles. Scary.

burnout 3 is amazing. that is irrelevant, considering the damage isnt REALISTIC.

Neither is that game a SIMULATION GAME either.

Now, go play it, and reconsider your arguments.

Forza in my opinion will be better

"Forza you will have the OPTION of damage"

How doe's this effect you, well the damage in Forza ranges from ARCADE damage to FULL SIMULATION damage, not only being visually impressive it's a huge step forward for hardcore simulation's on console's.
It will make you concider braking late and coming out an apex early it should also make you a more considerate driver, not wanting to screw your car up on the first lap.

"Forza you will have Exotic car's [Ferrari, Porsche etc....]"

I'm not saying PD will never aquire the licence's for these great manufacturers i'm just saying they ARE in Forza they ARE NOT in GT4 at this moment in time.

"Forza you will have Dynamic Tracks"

Dynamic Tracks, includes oil spills and rubber the track the develop a racing groove over time just like real track's and will show you where you spun out last time etc..... so much potential.

"Forza you will have Driveatar [Learning AI]"

Driveatar is learning AI you can teach to drive just like you, so you can train it to be wicked smart or as dumb as a door knob..

"Forza you will have reverse light's"

I can already here you screaming "I'M SO 1337, I DON'T REVERSE MWAHAHAHA"

well mabye you don't but I bet you will race someone online who reverses let me give you this situation.

Yes I'll be buying GT4 not because anything PD has said but mainly because I already have my DFP and I love it...

Before you scream DFP it's NOT devloped by PD so give it a rest it should not be a main selling point of there game and the fact it is very sad....

Logitech made the perfect wheel not PD it just so happens it works on GT4 and has the GT Badge....

Wrong, Logitech made the wheel FOR GT4, it just so happens that it works on other racing games, but not as perfect as it is on GT4.

At 160mph I find judging things quite difficult a little white light at the back of the car is difficult to see but it's better than nothing.

I'm glad LOGITECH is keeping the GT series fresh, PD are not doing such a good job.. now are they....

Logitech collaborated with PD in the creation of this wheel why you think it's the only 900 degree wheel out right now cause PD wanted the sensation of driving a real car which mainly has 2.5 turns. SO the DFP was created by Logitech for PD and with PD's help, funny it turns out to be the best driving sim wheel around especially made for the Real Driving Simulator, each little addition is in the interest of realism for the player/driver of GT, sure there's no damage and - probably a trademark by now - no reverse lights but with every iteration of GT PD and KY is getting the driving experience as close to real as possible as hardware will allow.

Also I love the idea of photomode I know many people who take pics of their screens when something cool has happened - before anyone jumps in yes I know about printscreen on PC - and to be able to keep this in high res and maybe even print it out is a cool thing to be able to do especially for a car enthusiast.

As for Forza vs. GT, I'm old skool GT, bought the 1st, 2nd, 3rd and had Concept for a while before a mate umm borrowed it then went down south for umm ever. So GT4 is gonna be mine, if Forza is better then so be it but I can't see it happening personally as I have loved GT since GT, I ain't a fanboy I'll give Forza it's chance and I will admit if it's better but being diehard GT (different to a fanboy as I can see GT's faults) I'll stick to what I know until I personally see something better.

Just my 2p/cents/euros/whatever the hell else there is !

Just a note also I read that the car manufacturers are lightening up to damaging their models in games but PD apparantly can't do this due to contract clauses that were decided at the time of licencing. Don't know if it's true but it could be.
 
Front have you seen the latest vids? The game has to be at least 80% done and it hasn't demonstrated all that you say. The concept of Gran Turismo is based on JGTC, Best Motoring and just the love of cars. Forza is based on Gran Turismo but w/ a lil twist. When you see a RUF in GT it looks beautiful. Porche in Forza looks pathetic....again nothing to get excited about. Forza's exotics mean nothing. Your opinions right now only show how naive you are. Do you realize that everything you have said is based on assumtions? Watch the vids then come back w/ your debate.

If you love cars, you can appreciate it. I take hundreds of pics of my real car (you can see it in my icon). Don't get tired of doing it. Photomode is gonna be nice. They're are ignorant ppl out there who won't know how to appreciate it though.

I don't mean to answer for you Cosmic, just going w/ the debate.

Gran Turismo is the first game to give you the pleasure of driving cars that you could only imagine, not want to imagine, or not even know existed. As well as, let you tune your car's handling & power depending on where you race. Forza is just a clone w/ some twist. That is my opinion though which I base on pics, vids, and what I read.

This I don't agree with cause you don't buy GT4 just for photomode after all, it's about the cars and the pleasure of racing. Photomode is an extra not an essential.

Game's have been doing the above since before Gran Turismo doe's that mean Gran Turismo is a clone of all racing game's that came before it ?

The "twist" that you so eloquently put it, is what every "simulation" fan since before Gran Turismo, want's in there simulation.

When GT5 come's along with the "twist" Forza has already included in there simulation, doe's that make it a clone of Forza, your reasoning sure make's it sound that way....
 
I can't think of any actual race sims that dealt with everyday cars and allowed you to fully tune your car and have a sense of realism while driving these cars as they all handled differently, GT broke the usual mold that all racing games were using before it, such as sportscars only like F1, Touring, GT etc, no game used everyday cars and the extent of tuning and diversity that GT offered. GT created something new in the racing sim genre.
