Damge is awesome, theres nothing like slamming your race car into a wall and watching it get torn to bits. And if you don't like it, turn it off. The fact that it's THERE is a plus point, which even you can't deny.

God knows....*imagines a PD meeting*

"well we could add reverse lights, a thing that just about every car has, or we can add some 3d spectators"

"WOWZ 3D SPECTATORZ"

Probably because you will spend .00000000001 of your time going n reverse in GT4

Ahh but Earth, it doesn't matter, the fact is they aint there, and it looks dumb when you do reverse.

lol code, you´ll get me in trouble man. My boss just looked angry at me when I started to laugh of your post here.

The fact that it is totally unrealistic, IMO, is a huge minus.

GT 'fans' can get excited about relatively minor additions to the game because the core game is already rock solid.

All of the 'gimicks' that we see in Forza will be for nothing if the core game is not upto scratch.

How do you know realistic it is? Oh wait, you don't.
Don't like it, turn it off, the option is there. I'll keep it on thank you, it adds a sense of danger too the race. And I guess bouncing off a wall Gt style is more realistic?

GT4

BOING !!!!!

FORZA

SMASH!!!!

I know which I prefer.

I wonder why don´t they put the reverse lights. There must be a reason for that.... right?

It is a mystery, I mean its got to be the same bit of code they use for brake lights, but, hmmm a different color, can't be hard

Having said that though, I've been to alot of Green Flag racing events in the UK, Formula Renault, Touring Cars, Clio Cup etc And whilst I've seen a lot of crashes and spins (Saw a formula Renault get airborne and spin in the air right in front of us...great :D and a huge Clio Pile up)...I have to admit, I have never seen a racing car go into reverse gear...it must be a pride thing, because even when it would have been the easiest way to get back on the track they still insisted on doing some strange manouveres

Thing is I can understand the race cars not having reverse lights, but alot of the cars on Gt4 are ROAD cars.

What we need is a banger racing sim :D, hope flatout can satisfy my hunger for destruction.

"WOWZ 3D SPECTATORZ"

That was quite a funny statement!

But to be honest code, I doubt that having reverse lights would be the same poly count as 3D spectators......although they would have to take some polys out from somwhere............

Maybe PD is taking out the reverse button.

It's all part of PD's "master plan" :D :D

That's my point!!! All it would take is a little light source on the back of the smegging car that turns on when the gear is reverse, it's so fricking simple, it boggels the mind why it's not in.

Oh for sure, but the Touring Cars and Clios have reverse lights, its just the drivers seem to refuse to use reverse gear (well when ever I've been watching) as if by using it is an admission that they screwed up

What about indicator lights!!!.......for when you are entering the pits or have some engine trouble!!

To be honest I use reverse a lot (hear me out) cause when me and my mates are up we try doing things we can't do in our own cars on many roads like reverse 180's or a reverse 180 and flip into 1st gear and power away at the quickest speed, or in 2 player do car tricks like reverse parking in front/behind the other car. Quality trying this after a few drinks also. :D

If you look at real racing lights are on when racing often, indicators are used usually to signal you are entering the pits or allowing someone to lap you by showing which side you're going to or you have a problem. Reverse lights are a major ommission from GT though and I would love to see this fixed as soon as. Please PD give us our reverse lights !!

They should honestly just give us all the lights.......I don't see what the problem...as code says......the detail and loss of poly's is minium...they bother to do the front lights, fog lamps (206 in paris).....back and brake lights!....why not reverse and indicators lights!.........the only reason I can think of is that PD are streching the PS2's graphical power further than we think.....you never know...they could be on the edge off 100% use.....watch your PS2 don't blow up when playing GT4

totally random question......why doesnt the PS2's graphics chip have a fan?.surely it needs one...there is only an exsaust fan.....but nothing else!!

Dirvers do actually use their indicators and hazzard lights in a race if the car they're in has them. They don't use them for corners obvoisely but in some series when a car is about to be lapped by another, one of the cars will use an indicator to signal which side of the track he will move over to. In other races drivers have used things like full beams to put other drivers off, it's all there and while I think indicators are one step too far since you have to activate them yourself, whereas the reverse light is automatic on every car, they are used in real racing.

Until we see the next gen machines, no console will be capable of producing truly realistic, dynamic crash damage. It will just be generic damage as seen in Burnout , Colin McRae etc. with the same old damage 'effects', i.e wonky steering etc.

Yes but even that is better than nothing, especially when it can be turned off if you wish.

I watched the vids for Forza...doesn't look as great as the pics. GT looks better. And from the vids you could tell the handling is arcadey. In the new GT4 vids, the handling has changed dramatically from Prologue. Forza will be a good game for XBox but stop trying to compare it GT4. It's not the same type of game...IGN says so :sly:

Both are sims, both involve buying a car, racing it wining money and either tuning it or saving for another one. They are both the same type of game, the both have a couple of features the other doesn't have thats all.

Every time I see a Forza pic/vid I get the feeling like it's an arcade. As mentioned before, the lighting is really nothing compared to GT4. Sure more polys, but they put them in the wrong places. The cars are ultra shiny, and that makes it arcady...and tacky...

Forza's graphics are great, its well thought out, well conceived and you just know MS are going to pour money into its development to get it just right.

But I'm a loyal kind of guy, and until GT lets me down I'll be sticking with her. I can only devote myself to one race game at a time :)
I can always go round my mates house and play Forza on his x-box, but I can imagine coming home and my PS2 is like..."let me see your hands...are those x-box controller marks...have you been playing Forza..sob sob, but you promised"

and I'd say "no way, I just fell onto the controller and it stuck to my hand thats all"

IMO it will probably be GT4 that will come out on top in the battle but only marginally depending on the handling of course but the next iterations is where the major fight will come into touch as the team will learn from the players of Forza and go about adding and improving areas and this will put pressure on PD to stay at the top as the console racer of choice. I don't care about either until they come out, even enthusia could surprise a lot of people, we just don't know but one thing's for sure as soon as the first is out and the dev's learn what people liked, hated and despised that's where the fun will start for us race sim'ers as they will be vying to be the best and will need to imitate the other to do it, either way we win.
