WHAT, have you ever played games like CoD2 and R6-RS on a decent PC.

Nick you could have put your opinion across in a less retarded way though, true? Your post stank of stupid. Plus do you own GT4 nick? I sure as hell don't, yet you manage to compare the 2 games! AMAZING!

Majin, your missing out on the best games machine ever, the pc!! Lets be honest, the pc beats any console, ever, hands down. More games, cheaper games, better online gaming, better graphics, better sound, modding games (better community), and need I mention emulation! Pc's have the BIGGEST games catalog ever, THOUSANDS of free games, heck, theres are websites with FREE quality games, some brilliant point n clicks etc. Then back to emulation, play your ps, snes, megadrive, saturn, amiga, speccy, arcade, etc etc games on your fricking pc! Pc's rule :)

And the pc version of EVERY game is ALLWAYS the best version.

I'm about 4 hours into Front Missioin, one of the best snes games ever and almost 6 into Chrono Trigger. I was never a rpg guy until now. Emulation is just too much fun with these games. I'm up to about 120 snes games 150 arcade and 80 genisis games :)

At first, I'd say that "some game vs. another game" would be something I'd come up with. But instead of being taking one's side, I'd try and analyze the two by features and overall playability.

Now, here are the most expressed points: PGR2 is out. GT4 is still in production. PGR2 tries to stay away from the realism by making a game with "Kudos", rather than going up the ladder, so to speak. GT4 tries to stay away from the arcade style by making a realistic game. And the GT never defeated its purpose. For example, when you make a wedding vow, you vow to be with your lover and take care of him/her even if you were going to die the day you were married (I don't mean that James Bond movie where Bond married a girl and she died (or got shot?) during a getaway sequence).

Folks, I know this is going to get me rants, but, this isn't about PC games. Sure, I know as a PC veteran that consoles lack the programmability and configurability that PCs have. And I'm sure if Gran Turismo wanted to make a "homologation special" of its GT games for PC (reminiscent of Sega GT for PC), GT is still GT. I know I made a knock that XBOX is basically a "hyped-up PC gaming rig transformed into a console." If that knock held true, I'm sure converting it into a PC game would be very easy.

But anyhow, the PGR2 and GT4 comparison is basically already out vs. speculation. GT4 looks good, but does it play better than PGR2? Has PGR2 been more thought of and researched than GT4? Maybe later when GT4 ships and people have a chance to make some noise on the two games, then we will have all the info we need to convince that:

(A) PGR2 is better than GT4
or
(B) GT4 is better than PGR2

But for the most part, I've been a GT fan, and GT been around much longer, and the quality of RACING and not stylistic driving is still as impressive as the first. When Pole Position came out on the year I was born (1983, or was it Pole Position 2 at that time?), it was the most advanced racer of its day. Many years later, we come down to Gran Turismo and the Project Gotham series. Both of these games are good, but GT has so much more because so much more was put into the game, and the player of the game WANTS more out of the game. I mean, a person does not want to just pilot a pile of polygons to some fixed point in space. Instead, GT gives you challenge after challenge. GT is clearly the runaway favorite in my book. And I'm sorry I couldn't say this in fewer words... :)

One reason GT francise is so strong may be that it's developed by enthusiastic car lovers,i'm not so sure about PGR2.

Did some one say chrono trigger :D :D :D WHAT A GAME! Brilliant.
You should try earthbound too btw, thats ace!

John, while I disgree with most of the stuff you say, you've at least (i think) said why you prefer the other. Shame nick couldn't be arsed to do the same.

GT4 is obviously going to be better, but that doesn't make PGR2 badly made, or any less a labour of love for the dev team (bizarre). Btw pole position!! YEY!!! I had that on my atari 2600 :D :D, bbbbrrppppppppp *atari sounds*

As much as I know, the "Project Gotham Racing" series is basically the old game series Rush. The Rush games (S.F., "Rush the Rock", Extreme Racing USA, and 2049), have been about unrealistic, usually dangerous racing where you can go off a bump at 150mph and (singing) "Fly like an eagle... into the future." Anyhow, PGR is mostly an arcade racer where you take exotic and not so exotic cars and trucks onto the streets of many famous cities the world over. Give or take the insanity of the Rush series, PGR is mostly like Rush.
You obviously haven't played PGR1 or 2, they are NOTHING like Rush or NFS, give me a break. That comparison would be like saying the GT series is the same as Sega GT  The PGR series is based on the concept of Metropolis Street Racer, not Rush :banghead: MSR was on the Dreamcast, and when that died, Microsoft contracted the creator, Bizarre Creations, to do the same style series on the *then new* XBOX, and called it Project Gotham Racing. All of you PS2/GTx fanboys make me sick, just because a game isn't on the PS2, isn't developed by Polyphony Digital, and isn't a simulation type game, you immediately write it off as crap. Who cares if a game is fun right, just as long as it isn't made by PD, it must not be very good  Give me a ****ing break :irked:

Wow, someone needs some time out...

I played a little of PGR1 and haven't played PGR2. I mean, whichever game you like is based on what interests you. If driving a multitude of cars around real cities for style and coolness, PGR2 beats GT4. If you are into realism that isn't seriously serious (after all, some consider the GT series as a perfect balance of arcade and simulation), GT4 beats PGR2.

Maybe I never got into the XBOX. I will admit. But if you like PGR2 and think that PGR2 is better than GT4, then in the interest of humanity, that's fine. It makes you no less of a man (or a woman) to like one system over another. Now what we are basically doing is making a comparison by analyzing certain elements to develop a conclusion.

And the times I said "PGR2 is like Rush or NFS," that means I have played at least one of the two games I compared them to. Only one I never seriously got into was Rush 2049 at the arcades. I don't have the latest NFS (NFS Hot Pursuit 2), but I have played NFSHS and NFS3, to name a few. The Rush series is insane with all the midair tricks and rollovers and all the traditional goodies until Midway been slumping. I found NFS and Rush as arcade racers, and PGR2 was in that category. Flame me if you wish, but my opinion isn't as special as anyone else's. I'm kind of popular for long, drawn out points (like this one), but I'm only proving my points much like anyone would with their view of a topic. I'm not the final voice in any opinion no matter what it is.

I'm just suggesting...

By the way, congratulations to the New England Patriots on their Super Bowl win! (Houston Texans for 2004-05!)

Sorry that you felt I was personally attacking you JohnBM01, but I was rather attacking the whole atmosphere of this thread, particularly the people who simply shun anything that isn't Gran Turismo. I, personally, enjoy both games, and PGR2 is very fun if you just open yourself up to new things. Sure, it isn't a sim, but isn't that far away from it, it's nice combo of sim/arcade. The cars don't handle horribly unrealistic, but they don't exactly behave realistically either, it's a nice blend, and very addictive online.

Way to generalise the whole forum Majarvis *applauds sarcastically*

This IS a GT forum you know, so obviously the comments and opinions are going to be severely biased towards GT games.

If you don't like the "fan-boy" comments you know what you can do.

Looks to be that you're the only one whining and *****ing now ;)

Haha, people on this forum are so easy to upset, must be their adolescent minds in a jumble

Who gives a flying F#@$ if one game is better then the other. :banghead: GT4 will be the greatest simulation game ever. But while we wait (and wait and wait) for it, PGR2 is a great way to spend the time. IMO it has accomplished what it was made for, to sell a crap load and to be a freaking blast to play.  It is with out a doubt my favorite title today, especially the live aspect. Don't knock it till you try it.
Anyone up for a game of cat and mouse? :p :p :p

👍 Except for the C&M, that seems to be all people do on the 'Ring nowadays :banghead:

*nod*

pgr2 rules :)

had a great 4 player game yesterday with a friend and his bro, even if it was like playing pgr2 on a game gear :) (4 player split screen)

I won ofc as I'm so fricking skill!

whoever is trying to compare pgr2 with gt4 is a nutcase!! if your saying that pgr2 is similar to gt4 in gameplay should realise that they're talkn about usn gt4 as a simulator for drivers>Now lets see pgr2 achieve that kinda status!!

Let's Take a Look at the diffrences:
I'll try and keep it unbiased as I can. :D :trouble:

PGR2:
3D Alloys
Flat Textures
(Cars and Landscape)
Outdated Vehicles
e.g. EVO 7
Higher Polygons
(6,000 per car)
Poor Game title.

GT4:
3D Wheels (Partially)
Flat Textures (Photorealistic to look like 3D)
Up to Date Vehicles e.g. EVO 8 and Concept Cars
High Polygons (3 to 4,000 per car)
Well thought out game title.

EDIT: Pic supposed to say PROJECT GOTHAM 2!

Okay, so the last point was biased, but who cares. :D

And the Xbox is supposed to be higher power. I see only a little difference between the PS2 and the Xbox. Shows what the PS2 can really do

Nothing like judging 2 games on utter crap screenshots eh racing freak.

Sorry to burst your bubble peeps, but the evo on PGR2 really does look amazing, don't be ignorent and automatically assume it's not as good just because it's on a console u don't own.

Sony and Playstation programmers have always been very effecient in their work. The XBox is Microsoft ... what do you expect?

I believe you pronounced that wrong. . . Microshaft :D

Except your both wrong, bizarre made PGR2. Similar thing that Sega did with the original MSR.

I don't care who made the xbox, makes no diff to me, and why should it? If we are talking market dominating super powers of evil, I'm sure sony could rank pretty high too!
