You guys should had played Project Torque from 2007 till 2009, then you would realize what updates are about.

This brand new "2.0" isn´t even a fart of what a true update should be. Plus i had been gifted by some weird bugs, like rain in Toscana (ok, i confess it was interesting) and instead the well known rpm noise on online, now i hear weird rpm notes.

The worst feature is the standard cockpit view for the standard cars, "a-la" GT PSP. I never saw so many wasted effort in something useless and ugly.

And the DLCs... cmon... the car pack is a joke, 2 tracks are so few (no true touge, like many asked), and the rest is just waste of time and effort...

Resuming:
Waiting for the 3.0, sooner as possible.

It was a free update.. and that was seriously alot of free content that PD have given us since the games release.. how can you complain when it's free..?

Also in the DLC Touring car Prius and CR-Z hell YES!! :p :D

Crazy how fast people are to complaining about something that was given for free.... Grow up or move on to forza or NFS. We didn't have to get this update y'know.

I'm totally looking forward to a prius/crz race series.

Hold on...
One of the most expensive PS3 games, also one of the most sold titles in PS3... and i should be thinking if this "2.0" is free or not?

Lets face it, its an unfinished product with several flaws of sharp and content. The last update looks more a "wip beta" than a revamp evolution or something. Plus, the DLC is not even close from amusing, maybe the only amused here is the Microsoft, witch is probably laughing right now.

some of our readers would like to know about in-game weather changes and skidmarks. Will they be included?

i'm hoping our players won't be caught up with minor details. If they pick at every little thing, nobody will be satisfied. It's the overall evolution that will impress. Skidmarks should be of no concern. (he says with a laugh).
qft

skidmarks? check
overall evolution (thus far)? check
players caught up with minor details? check (digital trees)

Computer Bild Spiele (English:Computer Picture Games): Right now some 150 people are working on Gran Turismo 5 and still it isn't finished, why?

Kazunori Yamauchi: GT5 is simply very difficult to develop.

CBS: Why?

KY: The dimensions of this game are huge, it really is simply too big. It is so complex, so enormous in it's scale.

CBS: Is GT5 too "ambitious"? Are you too ambitious?

KY: We gotta meet a certain standard. The bar for a "Gran Turismo", is as known, very high.

CBS: Isn't there a real danger that players will get too tired of waiting and just buy another racing game instead.?

KY: That very well may be but there is nothing that will let us develop the game any faster. It's not that we get slower during the process. We give our best. I didn't have a single day off this year and still the game isn't finished.

CBS: Gran Turismo is one the biggest franchises for the PlayStation. Does not Kaz Hirai often knock on the door and asks you to get the game done already, so more PS3 consoles can be sold?

KY: Well, he's not all too often here but we definatly are under some certain pressure. And we're not doing this for him really, it's more an obligation towards the firm Sony, which backed me up and is making my life, as it is, possible.

CBS: Is it true that you do not play any other racing games but rather let yourself inspire by real motorsport?

KY: Basically this is true. But our people here buy all those new games, test them, discuss the features and differences compared to our game. And as much as I know, the others let themselfes inspire by our work, not the other way around. So that is why I believe that most of our inspiration does not come from others work. I believe, the most important thing is, to drive the cars in real life and to participate in real races-that is where I get much of my inspiration from.

Interviewer asked the questions back then what we've been wondering this whole time. The guy sounded impatient :)

CBS: The demaga model seems not to be very real, why is that?

KY: The main reason is that it is not finished yet, we are still working on it.

CBS: So can we expect true-to-life crashes?

KY: That depends on how far you want to go with it. I've seen real crashes, where cars were compressed to a hight of 30 centimeters, we can not go that far. But we want to do it as realistic as possbile.

CBS: While we're talking about new features-how does it look with weather and daytime changes?

KY: If you look back at the history of racing games, you will find out that already in the 80's there were some, which had these features. But when we developped GT in 1997, we didn't really care about such features. We experiment on a daily bases with lighting and weather conditions and such. When we had to, we probably would be able to implement them already tomorrow. But if these features are included or not, is not the important here. The question is, wether this feature highers or lowers the overall quality of the game. Exactely this is what we're looking at, before we decide to implement something new.

CBS: In other words, you do not really want to say wether these features are in the game or not?

KY: We experiment with it. I want to emphasise again, that the quality of a game does not depend on the amount of features that are included.
We rather concentrate on the overall quality of our games, we are very carefull, when it comes to that.

CBS: When you would not have been such a motorhead, which game-genre would you then design?

KY: Before I made the first Gran Turismo, I sent in some 100 concepts for various videogames, from adventures, to RPG's, to puzzle games, pretty much all genres were represented. But when I had to choose...recently I thought about making a game, which is about life, death and the general being of the human, with it's meanings.
This answers a bit too.

This is for disappointment in GT5 Spec II, not how much people like it.
If you wish to talk about what you like/enjoy, there is a thread for that.

Seems a bit combative to run into any thread negative about GT5 just to defend it, borderline augmentative.
Notice you won't find me in the "appreciation thread" talking about how everything sucks?

I'm not disappointed in Spec II at all really though. :)

Slipstream could be weaker on "weak", Kaz's car is mildly glitched, and that's about it, for me so far.
Of course I'm disappointed in the DLC pricing, and yet again a bulk of Japanese cars, 1 American and no European cars, but Kaz is biased that way, it is what it is. "shrug" :irked:

The only thing I was hoping to get with this update was one or two more themes for the track creator.
The rest is all good... :)

The interview quoting is for the people that don't know that they're disappointment is in itself disappointing.

"Manufacturers are now coming to us, asking us to add their cars to the game, so we're seeing less resistance to in-game damage from the manufacturers," he answers diplomatically. He hesitates. "I'm still not sure they'll be too keen on seeing their cars roll over, though."

Most people that share your views believed this to be false. They only thought that because they seriously underestimate Kaz.

There also a difference between being a flame troll and an "apologist" troll. I'd rather be the troll that annoys the people that call me an "apologist" troll, or in other words, a fan of Kaz's work.

GameBlog Fr] You mentioned the concept of premium cars. can you tell us more?

[KY] Standard cars are actually cars from previous games in the series.
We had less work to convert them to the PS3. They were included to provide a greater variety in the cars.
Premium cars however, are like a glimpse of the future of the GT series.
Moreover, and we have mentioned before, we may have gone too far into detail on PS3
What we have done is perhaps more appropriate for a future console.

AutoBlog UK: Can you explain more about the difference between premium and standard cars in the new GT5?

Yamauchi: Standard models won’t have an interior view, less detailing and no crash model. The problem is that premium models take a lot of time to create and we wanted to include many more vehicles than before. To make premium versions of all the cars we want to put in would take ten years or more and I don’t think people are prepared to wait long!
People said the standard cars are there just for quantity. Well, it looks like shooting to far was the problem for the over-abundance of appreciated (I appreciate them) standard cars.
I hated them for the first 4 months. I didn't touch a single standard, besides for the Truck racing A-Spec event and the Jaguar E-Type. I remember using two because they were the only ones I used when all I used were Premiums. Am I biased? nahhhh

How many times have you seen someone post this as a general example of standard cars?
5927902-2_0.jpg

How many of those people believe that to be the case? All of them, because they're ignorant and just want to hate Forza's competition.

NOW, the new thing to say is, "GT5 standard models don't even have DETAILED interiors with cockpit view."

what could be better?

why the premium interior of Mazda MX5 was not used on all MX5, Miatas and Roadsters standard 50 versions? and the same for the Hondas S200, Mazdas RX7 and all standard cars who have equivalente in premium models?

if they take so many photos of each car why don't use a simple 2D picture view?

why don't make the standard steerwheel more visible?

another option was make a same/generic standard cockpit modeled like a premium for all standard cars :(

best interior view for starndard car is Crysler Prowler with a "like a premium interior" is great ;)

and the Phizis online and offline still diferents, a can't still drive in two wheels in the online :(

but i'm amazed with this update, make me come back to GT5 ;)
Thanks Kaz ;)

Waiting for the 3.0, sooner as possible.

The way I see it, every update is gonna go further in the wrong direction. Whenever I start GT5, the first thing I do is wade through the archaic menu system to find a car and then search for that one event I can actually use the car in. The last thing on my mind is: I need more Skylines and some paintball suits! Yet that seems to be exactly what Kaz is thinking. He has totally lost it. 3.0 will be again a collection of half-assed implemented ideas like the standard interior view. I don't think there will ever be a GT6, at least not by PD anymore.

I disagree. The updates are going in teh right direction.

The issue is that theyre not including the right things..... I fear the next playstation will be out before this game reaches perfection!

I was disappointed that the new opening movie was not Moon Over The Castle, since I thought it would be.

I'm also disappointed that there was no HSV-010 GT in the race car pack since I thought it would be.

I'm disappointed that the racing gear pack didn't have a Daft Punk suit. It's a helmet and suit, so...I mean, come on, think about driving around the new Kart track in a Daft Punk racing gear:dopey:

So my disappointments are minor, and Spec 2.0 and DLC is still great. I give it an A+ despite the little stuff I'm not happy about.

Besides, I'm looking forward to DLC like the R32 GTR touring car and RX7 touring car. Mmmm, Group A and Bathurst:tup: PD could have premiumed the Calsonic Skyline, but I'll settle with the R32 GTR fantasy touring car.

Oh and I'll paint my Honda Fit W with pink chrome since it was pink to begin with. It's going to be FABULOUS

Lets face it, now game has a interior view for ALL cars, imagine how much closer they are to make those interiors better looking ?
But as I read your post, I hope you do enjoy MW3 Elite services more, pay money for more info :)

The DLC doesnt need more Skylines.... Some premium race spec Zondas, Lambos and Astons would have been great.... Instead we're gifted with more Skylines. I love them but come on lol.... Enough is enough!

Hmmmmmm You could say that but lets be real........ They've pretty much had since PS3 was announced to get things right.. To have the game upto a premium standard. And they still fall short.

To think... This game was going to be released on the same day the PS3 was released.... One can only imagine what the game wouldve looked like back then. Perhaps all the cars wouldve been standard.

Cool, I'll check my garage if I have one, if not -> marketplace. :)
Guys what about a list of all the non default black interior views of the "new" standard cars? Just throwing some ideas but it could be very useful. 💡

the only way to fighting this is, dont buy it...

if you want racing suits for your viritual driver for real money its your own fault, also the "racing car pac" as touring cars (the cars was allready in game only moded a bit) if this is enough for someone, just grap it

the only good deal is spa

You do realise buying the complete pack is cheaper than buying Spa and the Touring car individually PLUS paints and suits get thrown in for free.

Some people.

Good point, I could buy the pack 12€ is a low price, but at the same time I wonna say them I don't care about new helmets, racing suits, I really don't care about paints (omg paints for money) and I'm not so hyped by the RM'd cars either. They aren't bad but I was waiting for some DTM, FIA-GT or new Supercars. So I guess the best way to tell them is to buy only Spa.

PS. found the standard interiors thread. https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?t=226660

do YOU complain about anything at all?

Roads?.....well design a road networks yourself then
football?.....well join a club yourself then?
politics?.....well become leader of your country then

if you DO complain about something but cannot fix it yourself then you are a complete and utter hypocrite.

JUST because you can't design/code a game does NOT mean you cannot complain about it.

U mad bro?
The problem is not the complain, is how people complain and some stuff that they complain.

The problem is the apologists and how they excuse everything GT5 does bad.

Some complaints are not what I'd personally complain about, but I understand that everyone is unique and like different things to me....something 99.9% of apologist do not understand.....apologist are happy with the game and cannot understand or empathise with someone who does not. So the aplogist instead of being sympathetic to someone else thoughts are utterly selfish and slag off most complainers.

Too much fail in this post.

Most people wanted interior view even if it was like PSP version and some cockpit look great like formula GT. The loading time is now more cleverly managed and UI in menu seems faster along with various other improvements. There may be more updates and DLC but dev for new game is a better thing to do and some members of team have already started working on GT6 ;)

No, that's not the problem. The problem is the lack of consistence and education. We have the right to give feedback (positive or negative) , not to bash and flame :yuck:

People are fed up. GTs problem is that it was TOO good in the past (hardware limitations taken into account)....for MANY GT5 has gone backwards and BADLY backwards.

There's a definite immature attitude here that complaining about GT5 is not to be permitted and anyone who does complain get's severely bashed and flamed. From my personal experience the apologists were nasty from the get go, and that further inflamed an already volatile discussion.

The apologist should just try and emphathise with the complainers and realise that most (I admit, not all) complaints if rectified would only make GT5 a MUCH better game and more in line with the previous great GTs.

I like the new interior view in general, for all road car it gets the job done. For some race cars like V12 LMR it is actually quite nice, and pretty comparable to interior view from games like GTR with the exception of working gauges. But for cars like GT-One or Speed 8 or something while the windscreen shape and location did much to put you "in the seat", the fact that the fenders are not visible for the front wheels is a big minus. As those cars you have really bad visibility to start as the driver sits pretty much at fender height(see 908 view, for example). That takes away the immersion factor on those cars...

Other than that though, massively happy with this feature. I spend quite a bit of time browsing through my Standard car collection as now I have more of a reason to drive them....and might wound up getting more of them...Time and weather setting for those track with it is great. I don't understand how it was missed first time around...

I like the new setup area layout and the setup sheet, have yet to check out the mid-race save feature. Somewhat indifferent on the physics(mainly just can't seem to notice any big difference, which in a way is good I guess). New GTR is a cool ride. And personally can't wait for the DLC to come to drive Spa in Gran Turismo, and some of those new touring cars.

And the new opening movie is nice.
